Patch 1.0!

Greetings, Heroes!

We've finally hit the 1.0 mark!

Introducing Transcendence, a whole new way to play Clicker Heroes. Get ready to unlock ridiculous power, and bigger numbers than ever!

We've also made a ton of quality of life changes, bug fixes, and a lot more improvements. Check out the in-game patch notes and forums for details.

Thanks for your continued support, and keep on clicking!

1.0 Patch Notes

- Transcendence: If you have reached zone 300 or later, you will be able to sacrifice your ancients, hero souls, relics, forge cores and gilds* to appease the Outsiders and gain previously unheard of levels of power. The more hero souls a player has sacrificed to transcend, total, over the entire life of the game (including those which had been spent on ancients who are sacrificed) the more Ancient Souls and Transcendent Power they will have.
* Gilds purchased with rubies will be restored gradually as regular gilds are unlocked in the new transcension.

- Ancient Souls: Feed these to the Outsiders to gain new upgrades, such as greatly improved effectiveness of idle bonuses or stronger Solomon effects.

- Transcendent Power: With this, every primal boss drops exponentially more hero souls than the boss before it.

- New Big Number System: Faster and more precise calculations for the very large numbers. Ridiculously large numbers are now supported, which can only really be attained through multiple Transcensions.

- Rebalanced Ancients: All Ancients which previously had a maximum level are no longer capped and can be upgraded indefinitely. Note: If you previously had any levels of these ancients, you will see your current ancient levels adjusted to match your previous values. However, when sacrificing your ancients for Transcension, the game will only consider the pre-patch amount of Hero Souls you spent on them.

- Ancient Leveling Improvements: Quantities of ancient level purchases now dynamically adapt to the current level of the ancient. No longer limited to purchasing a maximum of 10k levels at a time for very high level ancients. Additionally, players can now hold 'v' when leveling ancients to be given the option to type in the exact number of levels they wish to purchase.

- Non-Transcendent Ancients: Iris, Khrysos, Pluto and Thusia do not exist for players who have transcended. Transcendent players are much more powerful than non-Transcendent players, and these ancients needed to be removed either because they would be too powerful when combined with Transcendent Power or because they would be worth very little without the other removed ancients.

This game has been changing a lot rather quickly. First, you had the Dread Knight, which was the point where lots of players just gave up and stopped trying, like I did. Back then, you had to ascend (Pretty much like prestige, wiping your progress just to get a tiny bonus that keeps stacking the more you keep doing it) over and over again a few times before you were able to get past zone 140 or so, because the price of the Dread Knight was astronomically insane. Lots of us, who hate doing the equivalent of rolling heavy rocks up a hill just to watch them roll down again, just stopped playing here.

After that, they decided to add mercenaries, and my god, this change was amazing. Now, you didn't had to ascend anymore, you could simply send your mercenaries to farm Hero Souls and money, and getting through the zones was pretty much a breeze now. You could also farm those random fish drops in hopes of getting rubies, and you could also send your mercenaries for rubies, too. So, you could skip ascending altogether, just gather enough rubies for a quick ascension, and there you go! I got through zone 200-1800 that way, and it seems like the game was getting a bit too easy, but still, you could finally feel some kind of ♥♥♥♥ing progress.

Then, update 1.0 came. They nerfed lots of ancients, for example, it was quite easy to get Chronos stupidly OP, giving you like an extra 300 seconds for your boss timer if you were an idler like me. They nerfed it so it only gives you around 16 extra seconds or so. But hey! You can level Chronos up now! It's just going to cost you 5 quadrillion souls! For a whooping .22 seconds. So, idling now like in the old days was out of the question. But hey, you could still gather rubies to get another quick ascension, right? Well, yes, but now, there's super ancients basically, that look like Lovecraftian old ones. What's the catch? You HAVE to trASScend to get these, which means you have to wipe your progress. Just ♥♥♥♥ you, you have to wipe your progress if you wanna get far now. And nope, there's nothing you can do to avoid said wipe. So, unless you've got an awful lot of time to spend in this game, getting far is now pretty much a pain in the ♥♥♥.

This is where I call quits, they just nerfed everything that exists to give you an excuse to grind harder. I know lots of you will love it, and I know I might get lots of hate for my point of view, but that's how I feel at the moment.

I thoroughly enjoy Clicker Heroes and reccommend it, despite it being the equivalent of legal crack. Let me tell you my story of how I became a Clicker Addict and then to a Clicker Pimp all in the process of two weeks.

Having gotten this when it first came out and forcing myself to stop playing it after realizing how I was neglecting my family and friends after I invested about 100+ hours into it, I foolishly decided to get back into this years later.

There were times I forgot to eat... sleep... and forgot to feed the dog. I remember when I had to do things... terrible things just to get by to pay for my internet connection to get that one more click in.... Maybe if I used that next clicker ability I'll be able to get passed the next boss... Or if I pay for that upgrade I'll be able to prevent my hand from being amputated...

When I finally found the willpower to stop playing, there was that nagging sensation in my head to check back and click some more.

But then, I started to think and change the game. To make the game get my own gold for me instead of me having to get on my knees and click for it. So I changed my strategy and decided to take the risks I needed to in order to get my life back in order. I bought all of those nifty ancients and abilities to farm FOR me while I was away and while the game was off, instead of having me to click and click like the drug addicted me wanted me to be. Yeah, that was made this game great, that it had all kinds of ways for you to farm money in it. You could sit there and click or turn it off and have the game farm it for you... Of course it was faster to click for it and get all dirty for it like I was, but you can change it up and make things easier on ya as well by going a different build as well.

I needed my life back, so I paid my heroes and had them working with the idle ancients. I needed to make sure that this could work so I waited a bit and I ended up getting my money. From my heroes who were throwing themselves into the dangerous world, risking their lives to kill all those monsters so I can get my stuff as I relaxed again... I smiled to myself.

I had my life again.

I only had to check back in every now and then, pay them some cash and send them off to do their dirty business again. I was free to live my life again. I was free from clicking while my heroes were off getting me achievements, a steady amount of gold, and souls, Yeah, that's right, SOULS.

It then donned on me what I was; I was no longer some clicker addict hooker striving for that 'one more click', but instead I was a clicker pimp. And my heroes were always wanting me to come back for their next payday and for me to praise them.

10/10 Would waste hours of my life and become a clicker addict and then a pimp all over again.

This Game is very constant and boring if you like to get up around and explore or you like FPS games like CSGO and TF2 then it might not be for you but if not, it may be for you. I can only provide one point of veiw since I like action games. I don't really like it but others might love it.

I'm Posting Negitive because it's just not for me but other people might love it.

For starters, I would highly recommend this game. As far as idle/incremental games it's one of the better ones I've seen. The devs interact with players, updates are done relatively frequently, and the game is very bright and cheerful. It even has some (minor) lore aspects, a bit of story is told, though if you're looking for a game centered around story, this is probably not it.

Recently, patch 1.0 came out bringing Clicker Heroes into its first full version. There's been a lot of knee-jerk reactions with a new system (transcendence) that came out with 1.0, in which you trade in most of what you have for some mechanics that greatly speed up your game. Because the very first run after this "transcending" is very slow, there has been some negative reactions towards the game. Most people who have spent the couple hours that it takes to get back into the soul gain levels have found the update very enjoyable, whereas those who quit tend to not spend those couple hours. Please take those reviews with a grain of salt! The game does have its problems, but transcendence is not one of them.

Edit: For anyone wondering, I have a large amount of time spent on this game because it's an idle game. I leave it open full time to idle through it.

People giving negative reviews because of the new update when they didn't even READ the patch notes.

Transcendence IS worth it and it will make you much more powerful in very little time, just do yourself a favor and read the patch notes and pinned threads on the forum/reddit.

Remember your first ascension? Was it worth it? Then transcend, it's the same feeling. After the first ascension in transcendence you will be drowning in HS, it's amazing.

So CH finally hit 1.0 and it caused bit of a storm to everyone... Transcendence.

This is my take on it so far:
  • Transcendence can be triggered after zone level 300 (and can be triggered again at any time after your first Transcendence).
  • It's similar to a hard-reset, clean slate, however it affects more towards Ancients and Hero Souls, while Ancension affects heros and dps.
  • Hero souls are gone (but do not affect your immortal damage for the clan), gildes are gone (however after every 10 levels starting at level 100, any spent gildes come back with a free one gradually; just be patient, you didn't waste money), Ancients are gone (however 4 will no longer be used after transcendening: Iris, Khrysos, Pluto and Thusia)
  • Your stats and achievements stay. (However boosts from achievements were removed from this update)
  • If you're in a clan, you're still in it. You'll see the tab again once you hit zone level 51 after transcendening.
  • You'll see benefits, on your first tran., at zone level 105+, but guarantee at zone's 110, 120, and 130. (It will be bit of a grind though, sadly, everytime you transcend).
That's my initial take on it for now. I didn't like the update at first because when I tried to make a manual save .txt file, transcended, didn't like it, and went to get the code from the .txt file, it was blank. Apparently it was a rare occurance, and it happened to me at a worse time... so I'm I have no choice but to go through with it.

Yes, I felt all my progress was gone after playing this off and on for over a year and I was angry... but I calmed down since then and looked further into it. There does seem to be some benefits into this, but unlike Ascending, it won't be instantly show; have to be patient.

This was a surprise to all, and not everyone is level headed to look further into it than just the surface. I'm just now starting to see the benefits of it, and hopefully I can get back to where I was in short time compared to the year I spent.

I still recommend this game though.

I strongly suggest you give this topic a read, it'll explain what you need to know: Why Transendence is Good for Your Game

Prior to 1.0 update
This is similar to Cookie Clicker, except that it progress when you don't have the game running. It's more of a satire-ish way about RPGs. Kill monster, get gold, hire help for DPS, rinse repeat.

They seem to add new features, just when you think you're almost done, boom more stuff.

At first it's best to check on it every hour or so to progress, as it doesn't progress in levels but farm gold in the highest level you've reached in your current session.

Keep an eye out for small images that pop-up as they drop gold (amount depends on level) and sometimes 1-2 rubies to help buy boosts. Rubies do cost real money, but at this time it can be easy to farm up to 50 in a few days (once you get to a certain point with the ancients and mercenaries) to get Hero Souls to boost your DPS (Think Cookie Clicker's Heavenly Chips).

It's best to ascend when things start to slow down, or if you're farming hero souls get to a point that's good to ascend. The rule of "wait till you can double before resetting" does not apply here as you won't be able to double the amount of your here souls in one ascend.

I suggest you clear level 100 before you do your first ascension.

It's basically the ultimate clicker-type game that is on Steam.
There's nothing else to say about it, really. If you're uncertain if you wanna invest time and effort into it, I'd suggest to just download it. As with every clicker game, it's small, it's easy to understand, and it is addictive if you're into this type of genre.
What sets this game apart from many of the other Clicker games on Steam is the fact that it simply offers more content.

How to sum up clicker heroes:
*Beginning*: Oh boy these bosses are so hard
*A lot of hero souls later*: Oh boy that boss almost lasted a few seconds

This game gave me a crippling addiction. If you value your social life, don't download it.
