Eversion is difficult to review without spoiling it, but I'll try.

Eversion is, at it's core, an indie platformer/puzzle game. You play as Zee-Tee the Astrik (*), who is on a quest to save Princess Nehema, who has been captured by things that look a lot like Goombas. Along the way, Zee-Tee can evert to different "layers" of the world by pressing SPACE in certain areas, Things are quite different in each eversion layer, so everting is often required to progress.

Along the way, Zee-Tee can challenge himself by trying to collect all 240 gems, which will often require backtracking at certain eversion layers. Thankfully, your gems save even if you quit the level or die within, which is great for some of the harder levels.

The only real complaint I have about this game is how short it is. The game can easily be 100%ed in an hour, but if it is your first time playing, it'll probably take 2 hours or so to collect all of the gems and rescue the Princess.

All in all, Eversion is a very interesting platformer that is worth taking a look at. If you want to try the game out before you spend 5 dollars on it, the creator has a freeware version on his website. It doesn't have achievements and it's missing a handful of time attack levels, but it should get you used to the game.

This game has been made by Satan himself.

Yeah, sure, the game starts out normally - happy, colourful and full of joy. When you actually learn to use your Evert -ability it gets a little tougher.

BUT WAIT! There's more to it!

This game does get some random satanic attributes out of nowhere as you get further in the worlds and find out about their secrets!

A neat idea but the thin experience doesn't merit a $5 investment. At 0.8 hours of playtime I've already reached the regular ending and I'm close to reaching the secret ending. Not only is the short length, well, short, it forces the game to expand on it's premise too quickly to be fully effective. Bought this because I had a 66% off coupon and I don't think I'd pay any more than that. There's a free version of this on the internet which I would recommend instead.

I hope the developers take this idea much further with a new, longer game. I enjoy it but at the moment it's just not substantial enough

PS: In case you didn't know, this game is not what it seems

This game is Nintendo hard in all the right ways. You require practice, patience, and strategic thinking to reach the gems scattered throughout the levels. Most importantly, however, you'll need a strong heart; this game is unforgiving with both its difficulty and its scares. Certainly a fun time-spender, but be prepared to repeat yourself over and over and over if you want all the gems. This is a game that does not take kindly to laziness, even if you're one gem short. 9/10.

The f#ck have I just played?!

A friend gave me this game a long time ago, and asked me to review it. I'm gonna do a longer review on a video later on, but I feel like it deserves a review on Steam as well.

So, what is Eversion?

It's a platorm game, a bit similar in the basic mechanics as the classic Super Mario: Running arround to finish a level while destroying blocks to get coins gems, while jumping arround on enemies....With a twist. In some places, you can change how the world works. In every stage up until the 7º one, there's a new kind of world. And here is where things get messed up.

You see, the first worls are happy as f#ck. Even the enemies you're annihilating smile! And then...Well, things get dark. I won't say more, I don't want to spoil you the fun. All I will say, is that I wasn't expecting such a happy game to turn like that.

The soundtrack and graphics of the game are quite good, it feels like I'm playing a good NES game (seriously, that console had a TON of ♥♥♥♥ty games), the controls are fluid (I used a keyboard, I don't know if using a controller is better or not), And even though there's not much story, what there is, is...Well, you'll see.

The best part about this, is that you can download the free version of the game, if you want, instead of playing the steam one and supporting the devs. Of course, playing the Free version makes you an #sshole, SPECIALLY WHEN THE GAME IS THIS CHEAP, but hey, there's all kinds of people out there.

Just be aware: You might need to have some balls to finish the game. It has some difficulty spikes, and some parts can be a bit disturbing, to say the least.

Oh, and the video review might take a while. It will be on Spanish, though.

Just remember, the Princess is in another castle.

I'm not going to review the game directly - plenty of people have already done that. It's a brilliant take on an old formula and to say much more would spoil it. If you're familiar with the old-school platform games and are after something which plays with the associated tropes and expectations, this will probably appeal to you. I would like however to address the issue which keeps coming up - "This is based on a free Flash game - why should I buy it on Steam?"

Well, I came at it from a different point of view. I'd never heard of the game, but when I saw it on Steam with a coupon, I thought it looked interesting and so bought it. Don't regret it in the slightest.

Yes, there are many good free Flash games out there. There are many expensive abysmal games out there, including on Steam.

Whether it was a free Flash game before or not is irrelevent to me - I feel it is well worth the asking price.

An excellent, simple platformer with a remarkably creative setting. I saw a playthrough months ago and spent several days hunting it down because I couldn't remember the title and it was that good. Definitely worth $5.

I've played eversion for about 7 hours and im probably not going to play it anymore because I beat all the lvls and such. If you're looking for a unique indie game this is probably it.( Or i completly missed out on what indie means) It doesn't take alot to MAKE the game; it's the IDEA thas hard to come by. This game has a good story and a GREAT ending. You can find games like this for free on the enternett, but this one is unique, and if you love good indie games this one's worth it.

PS: If you're the CS GO, type or not into games that end quickly (you might not even finish it) you shuldn't purchase this game.

9/10 I loved it!

To be fair, I've been playing the free version for years on and off due to how fun it is, and god has the steam version improved in so many aspects. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is amazing, and it's really an improvement on the freeware version in every way. Either way, this is a fun game to recommend to friends without telling them about certain things that happen at certain points and seeing how they react to said things. yes, that is the perfect thing to do. please do that.

10/10 would evert again

Chances are if you've scrolled down this far in the reviews section, you've probably already figured out what the main gimmick of Eversion is. That's the sad reality about games like Eversion - reading any publicity on it is gonna hinder your enjoyment of it.

That said, Eversion is still a pretty solid puzzle platformer on its own. The updated artwork is cute n' clean, the mechanic of switching between fabrics of reality to bypass obsticles is fun, and this version also allows you to press the "x" button to search for Evert points. That last part might not sound like much, but it's something that takes a lot of unneccessary backtracking out of the quest for 100% completion.

It also adds a new ending and a few easter eggs. Nothing you'd really miss if you just got the free version, though.
TL;DR: Possibly a little pricey considering its length, but definitely worth checking out in one form or another.

Eversion is the kind of cutesy little platformer anyone would wanna sit down and have a nice and lovely little evening with. Gorgeous and vibrant retro-styled pixel art, an uplifting set of chiptunes, and a breezy little platforming adventure through a magical world. It's a simple little game for simple little times. Jump. Collect some crystals. Save the princess!

If you're in need of a happy and refreshing little adventure, Eversion is the ride for you.

{SPOILERS AHEAD}

I went into this expecting a super cute platformer game, and my god, never judge any more books by the cover. About half way into the game, it started going to hell, and I mean litterally, there were black arms with red clawed hands shooting up out of the water!!
Backgrounds get gnarled and twisted, death screens give you occaisonal messages such as "Ready! To die", "Stop", "Give up", and "Mother", it truley turns into something you'd see in an internet creepypasta.

It's very short, I was able to complete it in under an hour, but very entertaining. I'm not sure if I would call it worth $4.99, so maybe wait for a sale to get this odd little gem of a game.

Moral of this story, book covers can troll you.

It's really hard to talk about this game without ruining some of the surprise, so I'll just say that appearances can be very deceiving, and I feel like I absolutely got my $5 worth.
