Version 1.1997

Creeping up to version 1.2...slooowly.

So in this patch the following has been fixed:

  • Added a Power booster building that will currently give you +10 energy per booster, it can be found at the end of the power capacitor upgrades in the research tree.
  • Can no longer fly a fighter into the office and shoot the CEO as aircraft will now explode on the first contact.
  • Asteroid nudge has gone from 3 minutes to 5 minutes
  • Power Reflector has gone from 5 minutes to 6 minutes.
  • Thorium crystals now only gives 15 power.
  • Only one CEO will now appear at the end of the game.
  • The flag on the back of the Gigantilator is now facing the right way.
  • When the CEO dies in a self destructed base the game will no longer crash if you keep watching for long enough.
  • The Desk forcefield button should appear now when researched.
  • The game has been made a bit more stable.

The reason for adding the power booster was to try and rebalance the game if someone has taken more crystals than you. The basic premise is that its better to get crystals, but if you cant then power boosters are your next option. Please let me know if this helps or if you feel the numbers need balancing a bit more.

Other News
I have always believed in open and honesty about the development of Executive Assault (something that seems to be some what of a rarity on Steam) so would like to use this opportunity to explain why patch releases have been a little slow lately.

I basically want staff and grow my company so that I can produce higher quality games.

However company expansion takes a lot of time and effort so I have been spending a large portion of my time doing this. I am still however dedicated to fixing issues that some of you find in Executive Assault but overall the game is in a very good state.

Hope you understand and realise that Hesketh Studios expanding is a good thing for everyone :) Think of it as long term plans that will eventually most likely lead to an upgrade of Executive Assault and the production of more great games for you to enjoy, it had to happen at some point.

“it’s playable, it’s fun, and I feel like it’s tugging on the bits of my brain I’d expect a good RTS to tug.”
Rock, Paper, Shotgun

“extensive research tree allowing you to create gigantic robots piloted by Martini drinking pilots, orbital strikes that obliterate the whole map, direct control of any unit you choose, cooperative or adversarial multiplayer and continuing updates from the developer all combine to make this one to buy”

About This Game

Executive Assault is an indie real-time strategy/first-person shooter where you can not only build your base and create armies, but also take control of your units and fight as one of them.

RTS mode

As the CEO put in charge of taking over the planet, it is your job to build large base complexes containing all the facilities you need, construct factories to produce robotic troops, research high technology to give you an edge over the competition and of course direct your army to annihilate the opposing company.

Each facility is designed to snap easily together to create a seamless complex, which can then be upgraded with defence turrets, doors, forcefields and many other exciting technologies to help defend you from attack.

As well as building your base, you will also need to control your armies to attack, defend and conquer new ground using high tech weaponry and cunning strategies to defeat your opponent. From nimble robots who are the backbone to your army, to heavy tanks and walkers to crush all who oppose you. Along side your troops you will have access to long range artillery and missiles to take out unsuspecting units from afar.

Scattered across the map are various resources to help you improve and build your operation, from Thorium crystals to help boost power, to random meteorite impacts to give you rare resources for constructing the most powerful of units.

FPS Mode

Have you ever played your favourite RTS game and wished you were down there with your troops? In Executive Assault you can be!

Take control of any of your units from down on the ground as a robot or tank, or take to the skies and bomb from your fighter jets or huge shielded hover cruisers, it’s completely up to you!

Unlike most RTS games with FPS elements, in Executive Assault you will be able to enter the buildings that have been constructed and fight from inside, adding a whole new dimension to the RTS genre. Be down there in your robot factory defending it from the oncoming hordes, or assault the opposing power station by breaking in and sabotaging their power grid.

Each unit in Executive Assault can be designed and customised to meet the needs of the battle. So if you find you’re being attacked by heavy walkers, then counter with heavy beam lasers to slice them down to size. Or if you find hordes of little bots are your problem, then upgrade your turrets with machine guns to rip them to shreds. In Executive Assault the decision is yours.

  • Command armies and build bases from above.
  • Take control of tanks, robots and aircraft to fully immerse yourself in the combat.
  • Multiplayer, as there’s nothing more satisfying than blowing up your friends with cruise missiles.
  • Co-op multiplayer game play where you can build a base in RTS and your friends can play as your robots in a pure FPS mode.
  • Design and construct bases which you can then walk and fight inside.
  • Control doors, turrets, alarms and forcefields to defend against attack.
  • An extensive technology tree featuring over 140 technologies ranging from lasers to Quantum Gateways.
  • Sneak into the enemy base and detonate their power station.

Well, the games low graphic quality brings a different kind of perspective, but the making of this game really was one of a kind. The mix of a FPS and a RTS really made me exited for this game. The best part of the game is when the enemy is trying to kill your CEO. While your friends are playing as your executrons and your enemy is going into your tower. Your rush to the other elevater and your friends see the enemy in the other. You all suddenly start to yell "The Britsh Are Coming".

This game is amazing. You really feel the intensity while you march your troops into battle. But the real reason this game is amazing is because you get to hold a martini while piloting a giant mech the size of your base that shoots lasers, lighting, and missiles.

This game is amazing, both in the RTS and FPS mode. With the price being that low, I am glad I bought this.

Great concept, a sci-fi RTS with the option to go into first person mode with almost every unit you command. It sometimes gets a little glitchy, and every now and then has an occasional crash, but so long as you're not running the game on a potato, you should be fine.

Despite the promise shown, this is released as a finished product. As it currently is, I cannot recommend this game.

The FPS side is pretty alright. Being able to take control over any unit gives you a breadth-over-depth, so any lack of sophistication in any single unit's controls is more than made up for by swapping over. The issues I have are mostly with the RTS side, since this is primarily an RTS game.

Unit and gameplay balance is currently significantly skewed - one research path is always, always better than others, leading to lack of variety in play. The FPS mode is fiddly, and is difficult to keep in - staying in FPS mode too long will cause you to fall behind on research.

The AI is very lackluster. "Pylon spam" is an AI exploit, by which you build a free building repeatedly. This will consume AI forces, as they attack the building you built for free, allowing you to destroy their units. They will continue attacking the pylon, even while under attack! The differences between AI tiers are done alright, but they all work off the same basic script - and it's a script. Early scout, two bots left iron, three bots right iron, vehicle, lasers, upgraded lasers, assault with tanks, holding pattern, cluster rocket infantry to take out CEO. You can do the same thing, of course - this is the most effective strategy, in fact! So it's down to how fast you can execute this.

Graphics and sound should be evident from the above videos and screenshots - with one addition, being that units are in-scale to the surrounding buildings. Usually, FPS units are significantly out of scale - this is so that they are visible and selectable. You'll be constantly changing your zoom level.

Options are fairly bare-bones, without in-game rebindable controls. The control scheme evokes a much-earlier populus-style or Citizen Kabuto-style controls, rather than a more recent title. It's surprising to see that this title was released in 2015.

While the RTS/FPS concept is very cool, and done fairly well, as it currently stands I do not recommend this game.

After some time playing around with it, I realized that it's a more modern and slightly scaled back version of the older Warzone 2100. Research, research, upgrades, and more research in leu of a race for who can stall out more time to get their army in full force faster. So much fun all around, just wish there was more of a playerbase to run mp with...

This game is extremely fun and an amazing concept (RTS/FPS). If you like a challenge and want a game that will give a unique experience I highly recoimmend it. There are some minor flaws like the AI being too dificult, not enough upgrades for the CEO ( like armor upgrade and assault rifle upgrade to give a fighting chance against the robot invaders) and narrow hall ways lead some units to just stand around as you storm the oposing base, but these will most likely be fixed in future updates! Awesome game!

This game has a long way to go and for the one man that made it he did a great job
The game has a few bugs, the AI needs to be tweaked, a more than a few weapons need a nerf but other than those the game is great with the combination of RTS and FPS and the tech tree, power management and unit caps make the combat very balanced and to anyone who hasn't bought the game I reccomend you do to help out this guy so he can improve the game and he has hinted that he might make more and I would love to see more games made by this guy who seems to have a great mind for creativity
