The TL;DR is that the game is good if you like the LEGO game style, but it's going to take you a long time to 100% the game. Controls aren't perfect. All in all, it's what you'd expect - this is the first major "franchise" LEGO game that was released.

I played this when it came out on PS2 in two separate iterations, and if I remember correctly, this is ported off one of the other console versions, so there are some minor differences, especially if you get stuck and try to find a walkthrough. If you're familiar with the LEGO game formula and like it, you'll like this. The controls aren't tight, but as I recall, they weren't all that tight on the console in the first place.

Nothing is exceedingly difficult, but it can take some time to 100% the game. You do not need to do the blue canister challenges to get 100%, so if you don't like time attack stuff and are still a completist, you'll be fine. The AI can do strange things, but that also seems to be a LEGO quirk - I don't think I've played one game yet in the series where the AI second player doesn't get stuck or killed repeatedly at one point.

The gameplay is fun, but it can get tedious trying to 100% - it requires playing 36 levels twice *at minimum*, and you'll need to grind studs at some point, so I'd recommend playing the levels that wil let you unlock the stud multiplier red bricks first (all in the "Original Trilogy" levels - SW, ESB, RotJ). Once you activate all of them, your multiplier is something like 4860x, and ity makes that particular aspect of the game much easier.

I'm pretty sure the 40 hours of playtime I have is from one playthrough. Once you've completed it, there's almost no replay value - my playthrough here was pretty much because I wanted to take a shot at it because I hadn't played the console version in years, and as I mentioned, there were some differences, so there was some "new" stuff for me.

The story is good, unless you're a Star Wars purist and can't take a joke; it's not original to the game or true to the films, and it isn't supposed to be.

LEGO Star Wars: Prepare to Die (and again and again) Edition.

TL; DR – If you are in doubt which Lego Star Wars game to buy, buy The Clone Wars. It‘s shorter (18 vs 36 story levels) but vastly superior game.

I am huge Lego and Star Wars fan. This game is a big disappointment and very frustrating. I will talk about NEGATIVES.

1) Driving and flying is f.cking dogs.it! You read it right. There is no difference between gamepad and keyboard controls. Both are utterly terrible and almost broken. I hated every mission with it.

2) Who the f.ck thought that putting unskipable videos is great design?! Watching the same scene again and again… The main problem is some of them are just too long and you can‘t skip it. If you Alt-Tab it just pause and continues when you come back.

3) This game is ment to be played in co-op mode! Single player experience is terrible and very frustrating in the some half of missions. Let me explain. Your co-op AI is just useless and brain dead. They can only help you when you both need to push lever or jump on platforms to move. Full stop. Yes, they suck up blasters, but they can‘t kill anybody and they aren‘t even that good at sucking up blasters because you are going to die a lot. Again, a lot of dying. You want to construct something from blocks? Too bad you just died from blasters. "But just kill enemies." No you can‘t if they are on another platform and they just spawn again even when you kill them. Beyond terrible. That‘s why you need real co-op partner to shield you so you can do stuff.
This game is aimed to children and yet you constantly die! It‘s very hard to collect studs for True Jedi because when you die you lose them. F.ck you from the bottom of my heart!

OK I get it, in the past Lego games mostly sold in Nintendo systems, so it‘s logical that father and son played co-op, but please, this disaster could be mitigated if co-op AI wasn‘t passive! And guess what, co-op AI in Batman The Videogame is not passive.

4) I really don‘t like Ep I-III movies, and yet in game those episodes are vastly superior gameplay wise. I even replayed them for additional mini kits. There are no words which can describe how much I hated most of missions in Ep V and especially VI! I replayed none of EP V and VI missions.

There are positives:
1) humor is absolutely fantastic (see my screenshots) and
2) music is great but what SW game doesn‘t have it?

All in all, bad game :-/.

EDIT
Fanboy brigade downvoting like cra.y and yet nobody challenged facts.

Very fun game, it's everything that you would expect out of any LEGO game. The only complaint I have is that there are no achievements.

There is so much stuff packed into this game it's ridiculous. To complete the game to %100 will take you a while. Very much worth the money.
