This game is a great game, just fair warning

All the Fate Games + New content are bundled into this game. If you like everything Fate, buy this, but make sure to buy ONLY THIS. It's a really good game though, and I wholeheartly love it.

Oh, FATE: The Traitor Soul! Fun, delightful, charming. It's a magnificent game, and there's so much to do! One of the best and most enjoyable games I've ever played. It was an instant buy when I saw it here again, even though I already have an official copy from WildTangent's own service.

The music, the graphics, the's all wonderful. I can't say enough about how much I love it. Plus you get to choose various races and animal companions, including a fox! They make authentic noises and the companion really adds a tremendous amount to the game. It is generally a very accessible game, not overcomplicated, but you can get into really exciting complexity with gear, magic, and the stats that suit your play preferences.

The Traitor Soul is a game I have literally played for years, and I've never grown tired of it. It's easy to pick up, play a bit, and put down...or play for hours and lose yourself in its absorbing adventures. There is literally limitless appeal and lasting gameplay value! At this price it's a steal, so please do yourself a favour and pick up FATE: The Traitor Soul today. It will be a faithful companion to you forever.

Absolutely a classic game. I loved playing through this when I was younger and it's still great now. Be warned that this is the only version of Fate you need to buy because it has all the other stuff from Fate and Fate: Undiscovered Realms. Check out the subreddit for discussions and news!

Just stumbled upon it. Way back when Torchlight 2 was developed I kept on hearing that it borrowed some things like pets and fishing from this series. I don't look at this game with Nostalgia glasses as I just recently discovered it and though you will want some modern conveniences brought by the newer ARPGs, this game is pretty addictive. The game does not force you to go through Acts and you could just play it your own way. The way to describe it is like how the Supernatural TV show describes purgatory "you fight for the sake of fighting, loot for the sake of looting, play for the sake of having fun and everything felt so pure." The game just feels so pure, pure that it only focuses on what makes these type of games fun. I really wish I stumbled upon this series when I was younger. At the price it is selling it is highly recommended.

My only concern though is I don't know if its possible to access the grove main quest in this game. If only the developers would enable you to access all the main quest and all the dungeons and wrap the series up in to one neat package containing the contents from Fate, Undiscovered Realms, Traitors soul, and Cursed King.

"Wow! you caught a fish and found a DOGFISH in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a SMALL TROUT in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a FINGERLING BLACK JACKFISH in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a TYPHON PORTAL MEDALION in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a TRAVELERS BACKPACK in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a AMETHYST in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a CLEVE'S CLOVEN CLEAVER OF CLEAVING in it!"
"Wow! you caught a fish and found a PERONTO'S CHEESEHEAD OF THE EMERALD BAY in it!"

All of these items are things that I have found while fishing in the game. when you catch an actual fish in the game, you don't actually catch that fish. You catch an fish, and then find a fish inside of it, and keep THAT fish. (then for some reason you let the other one go.) You can find an item that takes up 8 inventory spaces inside of a fish (which only takes up 1 inventory space). This is a great dungeon-crawling game. I owned this game a while ago and then lost it. I got it on steam, and it is just as magnificant as I remember it. You can play for hours and hours on end; completeing quests, diving deep, and coming face-to-face with your greatest nemisis; yourself. Here are some of the ups and downs of the game:

The ups,
+Play for hours, you can play up to level 2,305 if you wish. There is no limit to how powerfull you can become.
+customize your character from a variety of races, each with it's own buffs
+choose a pet companion from a bizzare selection of animals
+go fishing and laugh at the hilarious things you catch (The majority of this games humor is in it's fishing and the references scattered throughout the world. For example, I once came across a semi-boss named Baron the Red, I also found a glowing red sword called the LITE SABRE, and another glowing blue sword called the LIGHT SWORD)
+customize your charcter with skills, abilities, armor, and magic that suits your playstyle.
+excellent replay value, when you tire of one character, you can retire and choose an heirloom from your inventory to pass down to you heir.

The downs,
-very repetitive
-You have to choose a specific path very early on in the game (Sword, hammer, shield battle, attack magic, charm magic, etc.) you can't really switch between paths later in the game, as you are almost forced to stick with one weapon the whole way through, otherwise your charcter will be ineffective.
-not much of a story, there is an interesting narration followed by concept art in the begining, but from there on out, it's just run through the dungeon, complete quests, and level up.
-The enchanters, (The NPC's who add buffs to weapons) are absolute jerks in this game. The money they charge for enchantment is outragous, and if they fail to enchant something the first time, (or accidentily drain all of the powers from your item) they simply keep your money and leave you with squat. So if you get the game, take my advice: If you choose to enchant something, make sure it is something you can possibly afford to part with. Enchanters can drain you more than the gamblers in this game. But at least with gambling you have something relativly valuable to walk away with when you lose.

All and all, I would give this game an 8/10. It is certainly a must-have for fans of dungeon-crawling or Role-playing games. NOTE: If you want this game, get ONLY this game, and not the first two FATE's because this game is all those games combined into one, so getting them all would bbe a waste of money.

I only played the first FATE game as a kid, but when I started this game the nostalgia was intense. One or some of the devs who worked on FATE later formed Runic Games, who brought us the Torchlight series, with the similarities between the two games being exremely evident. So Torchlight is the sexy game you wanna play, and FATE is the MILF. Old but gold!

By far this is the best fishing simulator i have ever played, at first you have to buy your fishing rod from a merchant. Then you work your way to better, and better fishing grounds via a dungeon. to help protect you while fishing you may purchase armor from merchants (with money you get from fishing!) or use the fish you catch to put a spell on your dog/cat to turn it into a more powerful creature to protect you from those who want to steal your fish.

10/10 would fish again.

Game is awesome but not at all the final game I have it on CD but lost it but I have played it many times before steam got it but still a great game brings back memories from only a few years ago and giving it the best rating of 10/10 cause it deserves it :)!
Great game and now instead of grabbing the first 2 games just grab this one cause you can play both the fates in this 1 game so don't bother with the others this covers those plus more dungeons addon mainly for traitor soul and higher levels :)!

Astranon's Rating of FATE: The Traitor Soul:
Gameplay (Is it fun?): 4/4
Visuals (Does it look good?): 4/4
Originality (Is it one of a kind?): 4/4
Playability (Is it free of errors and other issues?): 4/4
Overall Rating: 100% out of 100%

Astranon's Review of FATE: The Traitor Soul:
FATE: The Traitor Soul is an Action RPG that stands out among newer games of the same genre. How so? There is nothing pretentious about it. It stays true to form without attempting to introduce elements from other genres. Gameplay is simple and straightforward. Before the game begins, there is an intro sequence that establishes a storyline along with a character creation process that allows the player to customize appearance and choose a pet. After that, the player is transported to the Temple of Fate to set off. It acts as a central hub from which four different realms can be accessed, each with its own randomly generated dungeon.

FATE: The Traitor Soul allows the player to choose what order in which to explore the realms, which quests to accept from townsfolk, and how a character develops (based on a point allocation system). The dungeons themselves are quite challenging, even when the game is set to average difficulty. Each level is fairly large and wide open with no locked doors or puzzles to solve. Even so, passing from one level to the next does require strategy. Why? Well, the wide variety of monsters in the game are apparently so well programmed that they can and will do the following: stalk the player, flee when near death, heal themselves, team up with other monsters, and more. Should the player end up knocked to the floor in a lifeless heap (like me, being the reckless adventurer that I am), Fate itself will kindly appear to offer the player three different options in order to continue playing.

Because FATE: The Traitor Soul is not multiplayer, the player will have to rely on his or her pet for support in combat. I know what you're thinking. "Who cares if my pet can earn experience and gain levels? It probably isn't gonna make that much difference in a fight." At least that was my mindset when first exploring the dungeon with a cat (on whom I dumped all of my random items that I didn't want to carry). That was before I purchased a fishing rod and went fishing. It was then that I learned the following fact: pets in the world of FATE are able to shapeshift into more powerful creatures (sometimes permanently), depending on which type of fish they are fed. This, in my opinion, is one of the most unique and entertaining aspects of the game. Of course, I ended up collecting all kinds of fish to feed to my cat just to watch it transform and massacre any nearby monsters!

FATE: The Traitor Soul is a great game for gamers who are looking for something more traditional that is easy to learn, difficult to master, and fun to play. I recommend this game.

I bought this for the nostalgia, its a great game though people need to understand, this isn't a new game, its not going to look extremely pretty and its a dungeon crawler, the mobs are meant to be repetitive, so I warn people now that don't like doing the same thing over and over, this game isn't for you, but that being said who knows, I got 2 friends into Diablo 3 who didn't like the idea of it but now they love it, so if you think its worth a shot, then by all means go ahead.

I wouldn't ever dare say this game is perfect, but its a great little game for passing time and playing when you're bored, I'm just glad I could purchase it on steam. :)

Been playing for 4.4 Hours at the time of this review and I just have to say that I LOVE this game. It's a lot like Diablo 2 or Dungeon Siege 2 but it's still purely brilliant!

Some of the pros (as some already mentioned) :
+You can play this game for hours as you can play up to level 2,305 if you wish. There is no limit to how powerfull you can become.
+Customize your character from a variety of races, each with it's own buffs
+Pet system.
+Fishing is amazing in this game + a great way to earn fast gold.
+Customize your charcter with TONS of skills, abilities, armor, and magic that suits your playstyle.

Some downs :
- A bit repetitive for some (not for me though, I love grinding).
- You'll have to deciede which weapon and so forth you want early on otherwise you'll end up with a useless character.
- Enhancing costs A LOT of gold.

Im going to give this game 10/10 cause it have all that I want in an RPG and Hack-n-slach/dungeon crawler title.
Just pick this one up and play for hours. See you, reality! Im going to next level of the dungeon!

I love this game! I use to play the demo over and over again of the orginal FATE. When I got the full game I spent hours and hours exploring through the dungeons. This is packed with so much content compared to the others(cause its most of the games). I Really love this game(made by Travis Baldree) Which went on to make torchlight, but sometimes you just go down memory lane.

As Getts says "at these prices it's practically stealing"

Great game for a low price. It's an ARPG, so it plays like Torchlight or Diablo etc. If you like those kinds of games and are looking for something else, it's worth trying this out.

Fate : The Traitor Soul

(Update 2014-11-12 - based only on few hours of play reaching dungeon floor 26 char level 18)

My first start was only pain because i meet mobs higher level than me, hard to kill in melee with starting gear. And got killed many times by quest monsters in team.
Today i decided to start another party, always at lower difficulty level. I started ranger & i succeded for 1st time to reach underground floor 6 without problem.

+ Musics : nice
+ Class system : 4 classes with specific starting advantages (Mage, Ranged bow, Warrior & Tech)
+ Socket & Gem system : all gear can be socketed with many gem choices
+ Free evolution level up : you are free to allocate as you want points to share in melee, magic or ranged. That mean any class can use magic (for protections, buff or summons), ranged (bow) or lot of melee weapons.
+ Pet system : 5 pets to help fighting & selling in dungeons, number of equiped items increased then previous Fate. Pet have his own xp.
+ Gambling system : when you'll become rich, gambler in city will offer you items with lot of enchantments
+ Random enchantment system : npc in cimetery will enchant randomly all your gear (basic/epic echantment, sockets add, unenchantment or negative sometimes)
+ Fame system : npc give additional quests to increase faster your fame, money, xp. You'll get faster lot of points to allocate in skills.
+ Fishing system : random loots when fishing (city/dungeons), fishes can boost pets
+ Random shrine in dungeons : enchant once, recover mana/hp, random stats bonus/malus
+ Mimic : be carefull all chests isn't lootable ^^
+ Retirement & rebirth system : once you end game, you can decide to retire. You'll char won't be able to fight but you'll be able to rebirth passing powers/item to your new char for new playthrougth.
+ Fate is THE game who inspired Torchlight serie (Thx to (Drez) to report me Torchlight was clone)

- Gameplay badder than Torchlight
- Graphics badder than Torchlight
- Unbalanced difficulty : even if you start as "page" you can meet early higher level team monsters to kill you before you earn money to be well equiped
- Map : city & underground only, chained maps without open world
- No respec
- Solo game
- No shared stash

For those who played Torchlight first, Fate will perhaps decieve you because gameplay & graphics badder. Historical, Fate concept was created before than Torchlight. This 2nd sequel suffer with no multi options.

I need more practice & investigation to recommend this game. At this time, even if game unbalanced, there is no reason to boycott Fate. Stay one best choice when discounted.

This is a Diablo Style action RPG. if youve played torchlight and liked that then you'll like this. pretty much the same interface but the game is alot more free. if you want to be a wizard who uses enchanted swords then you can do that. but ONLY BUY THIS GAME if you are thinking of buying the 1st and 2nd ones, those come in this game. would definitly reccomend this game to all RPG fans and dungeon crawler fans. 10/10 best 5 dollars ive spent in my life.
