What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Robocraft has been built with a dedicated community of Robocrafters from the very beginning. It's first release was in April 2013 and had no multiplayer and no combat. From that point and to now the game has grown to it's full MMO state and whilst we still call it a 'Live Alpha' you will find it a very polished and fully featured experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to remain in Early Access for at least the next 6 months after it's initial release on Steam. This way the Steam community can help to shape the game as the rest of the Robocraft community has so far.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“When Clan Battles, Tournaments, Megabots (players as bosses in Boss Battles vs. other users), plus integration of Steam Leaderboards and Steam Achievements.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We call it 'Early Alpha' but we expect you to find it as polished and fully featured as most 'Beta' releases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Robocraft will always be Free-to-play and our prices won't change as a result of shifting from Early Access to a full release in future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Freejam (the developer of Robocraft) has community in it's blood. The work Freejam is a combination of 'Free' and 'Jam' where 'Free' shows our dedication to keeping Robocraft always Free and 'Jam' stands for 'Jamming'. We like to think of Robocraft as a game that has been built from the ground up with the community and 'Jamming' with the community is ingrained in everything we do.”

I first played this many months ago and decided to give it a try tonight, only to find they have added "EasyAntiCheat" as a requirement. While I get that client side anti-cheat software can be useful and seems to have been needed based on forum posts, I have considerable privacy concerns based on what EAC is requesting it be allowed to do on my computer.

The software itself has full access to screenshot, keylog and google searches have shown the results are publicly available for all to see. The only limiting factor is their word that it only operates while the game is running. While I'm sure there is other anti-cheat software running on my computer (ie steam), the data it returns to any third party servers has never been Google searchable.

I recommend the developers for Robocraft force a migration of their users to Steam and use Steam's built in anti-cheat instead of using a third party app developer who obviously has zero clue on how to secure data being returned to their servers. There's no excuse for that to be Google searchable.

I had this game laying around for a bit, was bored and started it up. I havn't been much of a minecraft type of player, but i must say the block building style seems to work. I was able to create something I liked before even trying to drive it. I hoped that after spending over 1hr making and re making and re making something i wanted to drive the game was as decent as the builder.

Success I loaded in fast with a similar group of newbie players. After inspecting some units i guess not so novice. I noticed a few vets that had aquired larger weapons and scaled thier vehicles down to be in the bracket so I tried to avoid the high flying snipers which actually helped me get better.

I spent a whole day playing and by the end was pleasantly addicted to building and destroying. I enjoyed the battles which mostly left me 1 shotted :/ or rolling around with 1 tire , or better yet upside down un able to move.

Every battle I wanted to change my vehicle, fine tune it, use what i was seeing otehrs kill me with and so on.

Anyways I am only on day 3 and really enjoying the game as simple as it seems the game modes are they work for now. The BOSS mode will be exciting when I am able to level that high.

The free to play seems to work. I REALLY hope they keep it so people that do not pay do not need to grind. I have not paid a dime and I feel like the grind is comfertable and satisfying enough.

Paying does give you an edge obviously. You get your Armor and weapon blocks faster and so on as expected. I hope they Keep the model letting free players have equal access to all game content levels and equipment at the same speed since I felt rewarded when winning.

Sucks a bit if you dont get a Hit on the enemy, you dont get much points at the end of the match so you really want to be part of the battles.

Anyways my opinion is the game is a decently fun builder. It has made me giggle a few times rolling around 80% wrecked killing off whoever got in range of my last weapon.

The bads that the game might have is the overpowered weapons in certain brackets. Being fully armored with that tiers armor and getting 1 shotted from accross the map might be fun for the shooter, but i think can hinder the old school feel of original arcade Tank shooters were you r skill manuvering your vehicle and getting a good shot on a target was key game play. Some weapons are so strong you get as high as you can and just 1 shot sniper whoever comes in view :/

This game needs guilds int he future, platoonsa re ok but seems shallow.

Bottome line: I like the game as a FREE player. So I plan to spend some cash on this game and see how the higher levels play out. Hopefully they nerf the overall weapon damage in lower tiers with higher tier weapons but other than that try it if you like to build.

i'm gonna go ahead and say that 95% of the negative responses have yet to read this..

http://robocraftgame.com/roboshield-and-eac-privacy-details/

.. in addition I'm willing to believe that a similar percent of negative responses are only upset because they are the hackers/cheaters that they're trying to keep out in the first place. All the talk about unsigned drivers and running windows in test mode.. think about it guys.

Really cool game that lets you build any war machine that you want !

Want to make a mech with railguns ? GO AHEAD !
Want to make a bird shaped plane with plasma launchers ? GO AHEAD !
Want to make a medic hover ? GO AHEAD !

Also pay2win is never to be seen since in every match you are put up against enemies in your own tier ( classification of how powerful your robot is ) so even if you pay and make it to tier 10 ( max ) you will be put up against tier 10 players

Also strategy IS a thing and consider flanking your enemies or using run and gun tactics !

Really good game overall with updates all the time , friendly devs , just play it ... Oh ! did i mention its F2P ?!

Fun game, easy to get into. Would definately reccomend for the $0 price tag.

For those of you that dont know, this is how the game goes:
You start out with the default robot, its not great, but it works. You mess around in battle, maybe get a kill here or there, flip over most games. You gather up tech points and money and eventually use the techpoints to unlock better blocks and some blocks with cool functions (like the alignment recitifier so youre not stuck upsidedown anymore). Eventually you tier up to tier 2, and by this point you have the hang of the game. Your robot gets better, you keep battling and upgrading it. You might buy premium to get more money from the battles.
Next thing you know, 100 hours later youre in a higher tier with a advanced robot.

10/10 good enough I would buy it if for some reason they started charging for it.

This game is definitely a lot of fun. Think of Roblox. Now think of World of Tanks. Now think of Besiege. Combine all of those with some Call of Duty gamemodes, and you get Robocraft! Build your own tanks however you can imagine, then put them into the battlefield with other tanks to fight to the death! Physics are amazing in this game, as your tank actually falls apart as you loose health! The graphics are simply gorgeous, and the mechanics work very nicely. Good control scheme, all in all a great game. 8/10, would play again.

This game is entertaining and especially addictive as you climb your way to tier 10. Once you get there you can still have fun making different robots that make the game play different and interesting for awhile longer. The developers are activly improving the game and release new content periodically which is nice. There are lots of people in the Robocraft community which means getting a game normally doesn't take very long (around 11 to 20 seconds). There are a good amount of Youtube videos out there too should one be looking for a good build idea without spending money in the roboshop.

This isn't a pay to win game. You can get everything you need without spending a penny. You may find yourself enjoying the game enough that you want to support the developers (and get some extra garages). That was what happened to me at least.

A word of warning however, this game will be frustrating if you have a slow or shared internet connection that bogs down at peak hours. The game has a tendancy to freeze all players for people with a slow connection. This will essential end your game the moment it happens versus lagging the game in a way you may be use to in other online PVP titles. This game has also had servers issues on many occasions. That being said the developers do a good job of address the issues that spring up.

If you are a person who has a creative streak and also likes online PVP games I would highly recommend Robocraft. 8.5/10 (deductions for the issues in the paragraph above)

Robocraft...........I can only say that it is among the single most fun mmo I have ever played. I have played alot of mmo's and they all suffer from the same thing.....Best Builds. A build or a set of builds that can beat all others in pvp and pve.

Robocraft does not have this. Some builds are better then others in one thing and crappy in another. It is very much up to the player to decide how they want to play and while you can grab a tutorial or buy a bot (the pay to get bots are usually really crappy and serve mostly as a fun cosmetic thing rather than a viable build to play) there is trillions of ways to build a bot. I am almost in tier 10 myself and i have seen planes with wheels or cruisers that can hover. Tanks with legs and so much more.

While there aren't many play modes each battle is different. One battle you will get utterly crushed and the next the timer click to 0 because you were too evenly matched and got a long battle. The variations in bots and tactics make it very fun. The devs are polite kind and helpful. Ususally offering a day of free premium every once in awhile. If the servers crash they work tirelessly to get them back up. They care about the players and seem pretty determined to avoid a pay 2 win model.

But don't take my word for it, go in there and play fr yourself.......be warned though you will probably get addicted to it.

Just any other Free to Play game, you should pick this up for an hour and give it an open-minded go.

In this game you build a tiny vehicle (I say vehicle, because robots do not require a pilot, because it is esstentially it's own pilot, but vehiclecraft doesn't sound as good, so I'll call it a robo) and then fight using it against other players who have built their own robot.

You can build whatever you want. If you have the parts, it can be made. I've seen people make literal spider walkers (are usually seen in challenge mode or late into the game, like 80% into it), an smg car shaped like a person, a heavily armored box car, a car only describable as a quad from dune 2000, even a flying ♥♥♥♥♥ that one time.

You can make jets, hovercrafts, "drones", actual drones, helicopters, tanks, cars, and you can get to the end of the game's current progression to make gigantic versions of these where you can either pit it against tons of smaller, weaker enemies, or fight in a battle filled with giant robos!

I have only gotten 27% into the game, Tier 3, but already I can make hovercraft, cars, tanks, hybrids of either of those and stuff.

There are indeed weapons, and they all have their own uses and strengths and ways of using them. Indeed, this isn't call of Duty where tons of weapons exist, but all of them in a category all work basically the same.

You've got 4 weapons. SMGs, Plasma Cannons, Railguns, and Nanotech Disruptor which heal allies and deals damage to enemies in a straight beam.

The game abides by physics most of the time, so if your robo is not properly made, then you can expect to find problems, luckily there IS a practice mode that has no penalty or reward, filled with enemies you can test your robo against, some of them potentially player-made (THAT NEEDS TO BE A THING IF NOT! <3)

This game is fun, just... don't get discouraged if some turd with a railgun goes into Tiers 1, 2 or 3. It happens a decent amount even though Tier 5 really should be a cut-off point for tech being below the tier it was meant for (Aka railguns below Tier 4 battles, or Helicopters below Tier 5. Walkers below Tier 7 isn't much of a big deal honestly because they're cool to the point I wished there was a Tier 4 version of them).

you won't be able to make the robo you want to from the get-go (I personally have an obsession for walkers, sometimes bordering on fetish-territory if you throw on some missile launchers and beam cannons onto it xD).

The only real downside to the game is the inability to mix and match weapon types. I suppose it helps for balance reasons, but it'd be cool if you could have two weapons at a time. Though then you could have medic guns on railgun planes, which would be a tad unfair.

Each different item has its purpose and use, th only thing that is really much of an exception are the blocks, but they are instrumental in being tough to destroy as without them... well you're not tough to destroy as the original blocks are free for a reason.

Spoiler: They're garbage above Tier 1.

There's also Electro plates, which are indeed shield technology, but the precursor to it.

Feel free to download this game and give it a try, it's really quite fun! Personally building the robo is my favorite part, let alone actually using it, which is even better.

It's really fun.

I also give this game a 6/10, which says alot for it's current state. There's not alot of bugs left and the devs have taken time and actually tried in their endeavor to make a great game which has probably very little content in comparison to the finished result, and 0 bugs or glitches pretty much.

PS: This game has support for us OCD buggers who have to symmetry everything in the mirror mode. Press X or map the key in the controls menu under "Build"

Happy Building, and Merry Killing!
