What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Robocraft has been built with a dedicated community of Robocrafters from the very beginning. It's first release was in April 2013 and had no multiplayer and no combat. From that point and to now the game has grown to it's full MMO state and whilst we still call it a 'Live Alpha' you will find it a very polished and fully featured experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Freejam are now plotting a path to Full Release with an aim to be fully release by early 2016.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Whilst users accounts will never be reset - so what you earn in game now you will always keep - the Full Release of Robocraft will contain a number of additional key core features, specifically Clans (inc. Clan Battles), Rank (inc. Ranked Battles), more game modes, Coloring your Robot, a PVE mode and translation into many languages.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We call it 'Early Alpha' but we expect you to find it as polished and fully featured as most 'Beta' releases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Robocraft will always be Free-to-play and our prices won't change as a result of shifting from Early Access to a full release in future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Freejam (the developer of Robocraft) has community in it's blood. The word Freejam is a combination of 'Free' and 'Jam' where 'Free' shows our dedication to keeping Robocraft always Free and 'Jam' stands for 'Jamming'. We like to think of Robocraft as a game that has been built from the ground up with the community and 'Jamming' with the community is ingrained in everything we do.”

Was a really good game until the "Unleashed" update.

Actually : full of bugs, completly unbalanced, broken leagues, broken match making, long waiting time, almost 0 social, and is about to destroy the game for redo from scratch...

The worst : the staff (admins and mods) who cries against competitives bots just plays uber competitive bots, exploit match making and make lose and block their players. If you try to talk, they ban you.

Robocrafts fun, well use to be in 2014 before the game breaking updates came, its even worse now- singleplayer for me either ends in a sent back to mothership, or robocraft.exe not responding. also lag in both single, multiplayer causing me to die as it just stops for a few seconds.

On the otherside it is kinda fun, not as good as it use to be but creating bots is ok, either being scrap junk or op gunbeds.
Also- does anyone know what tier is in-between each ranking range? its also unbalanced for example early on, 50% of people have shields when you dont even have tier 2, play if you want but its a broken, glitchy game that was less glitchy ages ago.
I'd say 6/10, above average as it IS actually fun but not excellent, it's just barely managed the 6/10- back in 2014 aka the prime days i'd say it was around 7.5-8, maybe even 8.5/10- Also whats the point of multiplayer apart from rp (the currency) as singleplayer gives alot of easy experience and rp aswell.

I'm mean, don't get me wrong, this game is an amazing concept and MOST of it is well executed. I remember back before this recent patch that there was a tier system and depending what guns and armor and things you had put on your robot, would determine your rank and that would allow you to play with similarly ranked players. Now with a slightly uncomprehensible ranking system and no way to play any other game mode besides TDM without grinding for months, I see no point to this game. You're better off spending about 60$ for a premade mech that can work for a specific level and never remake that mech because no matter what you do, there will always be the turd that builds a flying plasma bomber.

This game is hard to pick up now because of all the overleveled people in low ranked matches.

This game is becoming utter crap. I used to love this game, and was absolutely thrilled when the death match became optional. But now, after being in school for 3 months, it looks terrible. Now I can't do that matches with bases, leaving me, once again, with the death match. Such modes shouldn't be blocked. And why not integrate the test mode with the single player mode? Like many other reviewers before me, this game leaves the gamer scratching their head and wondering if thedevelopers actually look at reviews and feedback, and if they're just TRYING to make it bad.

At the time of writing, Robocraft is in the middle of a long, slow death.

This game had a lot of potential, and still might be great game in the future. I might check back in 2020 when the devs put a bit more thought and care into what they do. Here we have an "early access game" that probably already has a pretty steady revenue stream. So, let's all stop calling it "alpha" or "early access" or whatever else and just admit that it is in a strange game limbo.

The gamelpay is fun enough, but doesn't hold the attention for the casual player for too long. This has partly to do with the lack of great content one would expect on a regular basis from an alpha game. The other major factor is the terrible playerbase. Due to the game having no tutorial whatsoever, it can be incredibly punishing to new players. The high skill ceiling and steep learning curve make this a perfect gave for min/max tryhards who have put 2000+ hours into the game. They are currently working on matchmaking, but the poor in-game commincation makes dedicated teams called "platoons" far more powerful than they should be.

Constant disconnects, glitches, and poorly made matches have inevitably ruined this one for me. I might check back next year to see how things are going, but I don't know if it will be around that long.

It isn't pay-to-win, by any means, but it will take you a long time to get to any sense of completion with what you have.
