What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Robocraft has been built with a dedicated community of Robocrafters from the very beginning. The game's first release was in April 2013 and that buildhad no multiplayer and no combat. From that point to today, the game has grown exponentially to its full MMO state and whilst we still call it a 'Live Alpha' you will find it a very polished and fully featured experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Freejam are now plotting a path to full release with an aim to be out of Early Access by the end of 2016.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“While users accounts will never be reset - so what you earn in game now you will always keep - the full release of Robocraft will contain a number of additional key core features, many more social features, Clans, more game modes, many more functional components and weapons, a tutorial and PVE mode and full game localisation into many different languages.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“We call it 'Early Alpha' but we expect you to find it as polished and fully featured as most 'Beta' releases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No, Robocraft will always be free-to-play and our prices won't change as a result of shifting from Early Access to a full release in future.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Freejam (the developer of Robocraft) has community in its blood. The word Freejam is a combination of 'free' and 'jam', where 'free' shows our dedication to keeping Robocraft always free, and 'jam' stands for jamming with our community to determine how our game continues to evolve. We like to think of Robocraft as a game that has been built from the ground up in collaboration with the community.”

This was a really good game, however it just got ruined with all the updates. Won't go in full detail cause there's allot of stuff that just make this game absolutely atrocious, but I just gonna go over some. Before the crates came in the game was still fun, even with all the unbalanced guns and match making. But now, you could be playing for hours and get nothing. The items you get from crates at the end of a game are just complete useless, so useless that selling them for money is not even worth it. They are more useful as a "dust collector" then anything else. There is no more skill involved anymore as the devs also took that away. Brining in lock on missle launchers, and making that if you shoot your self you dont lose energy, which takes away from the entire point of being strategic with your shots and conserving energy. The distinction in classes which were; medic, sniper, support (plasma, laser) are just gone. Anyone can be eveything, which just takes away the fun of using strategy and working together to defeat the enemy. The 10 second heal which is that if your not shot with-in 10 seconds your robot heals. This just makes everyone go rambo cause they pretty much charge in, shoot, then heal, needing no medic or team-mates to help them defeat the enemy. And lastly, the pay-to-win aspect of the game (buying crates to get items, being able to buy legendary guns, buying items to boost heal regen, etc...) are just so damn gamebreaking that even with hundred of hours of grinding (which I have done in this game) someone spending money on the game could match you and destroy you with no problem. Overall, I woudn't recommend this game as there's too many things that just take away from the gameplay being fun.

Well, where to start?

i played robocraft from before these massive updates.
and i quit the game for now.

from the start:
Before all the massive updates, the colours decided the level...
now you spam the same blocks and add a colour.
before it all there was great creativity.
get hard thingstogether and make it actually look very great.
now you can also make it look much better.
BUT!
to me as a player who takes ''free to play'' serious as games say themselves free to play.
now here comes one thing i hate most of all of what the developers did.
creativity is msotly ♥♥♥♥♥.. i mean just ♥♥♥♥ed.
yes i use the vulgar words due to i am pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it.

before it all as i said colour blocks decided the level.
now you colour it and spam your vehicle full to get some where.
but.. colouring..
developers want CREATIVITY.. not?
if you want creativity of ppl.
DONT BLOODY MAKE IT PAY TO GET COLOURS!
one of the biggest hate of all.
BUY premium to unlock colours.
you now as a starter is stuck with 4 colours.. and they are actually pretty discusting.
i cant seems to have good creativity with just 4 colours!

listen here, if you want creativity, get rid of the colour lock.
thats 1.

also before it all credits was the one you buy blocks with and get them.
your level ups decided when you unlock something.
which is pretty nice, and satisfying when you unlock that gun you grinded for.

now?
you just recycle blocks and other things to get stupid dust.
with dust you forge blocks, guns, radars, etc.
you know what? i ran out of the damn dust.
i have nothing left.
i am down to a single creation and it sucks ♥♥♥.
bought the damn gatling gun at which i thought it would be kick ♥♥♥!
nope.. horrible mistake.
a rookie mistake.
i dislike this game soo much now.

the colours, the forge, dust, no level unlocks..

Developers, you will never read it but ill say it anyway.
You made.. the biggest... ♥♥♥ move ever!

before these huge updates, the game was soo much fun!
now it seems its a kids game, and for kids its waay too complicated.
the game became more cartoony, more flashy lights.
dumb developer pictures.
come on.. YARRRR... its not funny.. the pic you used ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ soo cringy.
just.. UGH!
i am soo ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at this game.

PPL! who actually read this all?
i have a applause for you.
i mean it, andif you gonna install this game and think this is good?
prepare for a bad time...
you want a creative game?
you better off BUYING minecraft or something...
minecraft is about creativity.
and robocraft WAS a creative game.
now its only yelling and frustration.

the fun is gone!

soo..
yeah.. there you have it..

now.. to be ''reasonable''
good parts of the game.

-they did improved with the engine.
-guns feel very diffirent and soemtimes very good.
the plasma guns are cool, artillery.
- the.. well f*ck it.
i cant do this.

YOU REMOVED THE ♥♥♥♥ING MEGA'S!!!
YOU REMOVED IT WHEN I FINNALLY UNLOCKED
THE DAMN PARTSAND BOUGHT THE PARTS TO BE A ♥♥♥♥ING MEGA!!!

i am not happy right now..
i am going to uninstall this game.
ppl dont play it. wait till the developers actually get their minds back to change the game back to creativity.
for now. a bad game.

done..
thank you for reading.
to whoever actually read it.
and ppl who defend this game?
goodluck chaps, but you aint gonna win me back to accept this game.

Okay, let's face it,this game has gone to crap. I know that freejam has done way better than they currently are. But one thing the community needs to know by now is that developers of free to play games need to have in game purchases. To ensure people buy this the developers make the ways to collect the currency extremely repetitive and tedious. People start to be worn down by the offers for things they don't have yet. No game is free from a development stand point so the premium is a way to make the money to cover it and make profit. Money is one of the things that is the problem with these types of games and that's why it is early access,to help fund the development of the game. But do the ends meet the means? To change the way the game's main objective so often is really bad for a game. The way they changed some things just mess up everything. When adding in a new weapon,it seems they don't play test to see how it balances out with existing ones. It would also really help this game if there was a way to create a community server so people don't fear how long their money will last. If freejam stops making money, they may shut down the servers like many other multiplayer only games. So,if you don't mind losing a few bucks on a game, this is a good game.

Used to be good. Now it's watered down to build a block and strap your best equipment on it. But wait! You can only do that if you managed to get any from that flawed (un)Epic Loot drop. How fun!

There once was a time when this game was simple, had a simple matchmaking system, and a simple ship building concept. It was a game where you battled to get more stuff for your ship, used the stuff to battle and get more stuff, and eventually unlock cool items to put on your ship. Players were sorted into "tiers", which were general leagues of power for a ship. You simply could not place powerful items on your ship and expect to keep facing noob players. The tier concept allowed good players to maximize ships for specific laugues of players, and for less skilled players to know that, once they place enough items on their ship to go into a new tier, they will be at a slight dissadvantage unless they prepare right.

It made the concept of unbalanced gameplay less unbalanced. Now, unfortunately, you know absolutely nothing about your opponents, or whether specific items will be overspending for your level and land you in a new group of opponents, or if your weapons aren't quite powerful enough to face off with the people at your level. You go in blind, and can't even leave the damn match with any means other than the task manager when you screw up your build. This could mean a solid ten minutes of gameplay in which you are simply wasting your time.

If it's really a concern about unbalanced teams after someone leaves, then just throw in one of those pre-made ships piloted by an AI or something. Or better yet, don't make it a damn trial and error session just to make a ship for a specific group. I couldn't even make a ship with nothing but cubes and a few smg's without getting blasted apart by people outside my preparation.

Seriously, I don't know what to use and what not to use. Do I grab some shielding, or does it raise my ranking a ♥♥♥♥ ton so I don't know? What guns are people using at my level? Are cubes good armor, or do they even HAVE armor in this game?

This game was once simple, and it was good. Maybe people like what they have now, but I wouldn't know since I have no F-ing clue what they'd be talking about.

Fun game to play on equal grounds BUT new people going against veterans is highly unfair. Match making is totally useless where your oppositions already have legendary or better weapons than you do. Editing your robot and doing the final testing is also a total lie. Runs perfect on the testing but in actual game play, your unit screws around either the robot is slower, hover gets unbalanced/to much lift.

The 2 BIGGEST CHEAT of all is....most weapons cannot do much damage on high altitude planes or hiding in the centre building where NO ONE can touch them. Tesla weapons do damage on you BEFORE they even make contact.

Overall opinion that this game and the idiot developers really messed it up and WILL NOT recommend any friends or people to play this half ♥♥♥ game to anyone.

I used to play robocraft when tiers existed. There was a clear game progression and you could build a bot to play at specific levels.

I recently returned to the game and I am extremely dissapointed in the path the developers have taken the game.

I tried playing my old bots which used to be very good at their tier and they are now useless, not because they are badly designed, but because the game has turned into a massive P2W scheme.

For example: To maximize damage on my SMG bot, I need 8 uncommon SMG weapons giving 60k dps for 80 CPU.
To maximuse damage with epics, I need 4 epic SMG weapons giving 80k dps for 104 CPU.
That is a 33% increase in DPS that I can do nothing about to compete with and the CPU difference is so small that I will always be paired against those superior bots.

The reason overall reviews are positive is because players, including me loved an amazing game

Its simply not that game anymore with which i fell in love a long time ago

Robocraft was an amazing game, it had potential, dedicated playerbase, progression, rewards and much more but update after update it kept on getting worse. They removed mega bots which were great as end game builds and kept you playing, they removed tier cubes which actually showed people that you spent time playing the game, then they removed tiers themselves which used to ensure that you cant take a giant bed of mega weapons into a game with others who just started playing
Oh and the final nail in the coffin was dont with the "epic loot" which literally removed THE BASIC PROGRESSION SYSTEM IN THE GAME
You know every two months or so I launch the game to see if there is any improvements and its the same thing every time

New OP part gets added and the only resonable way to get it is to sell stuff
But the "stuff" you get is worth NOTHING at all

They say that the game is now flat and all weapons are viable, what a nice joke
If everything is balanced then why the ♥♥♥♥ is there still color coded weapons WHICH CLEARLY SHOW THE RARITY AND POWER
Legendary parts are better than uncommons in EVERY SINGLE WAY and guess what if you want ONE LEGENDARY PART its going to take you a whole year

Most people with legendary parts either paid real money or used to play before this game became hell
You know what p2w is right? everyone does really, well this game has become that
Simply put if you need 4 legendary parts for a good bot yes you may grind for a long time but if it takes FOUR ♥♥♥♥ING YEARS TO DO SO ITS NOT ACTUALLY FAIR
Paying players with legendary parts are STILL put up aganist new players with only uncommons giving them a huge advantage
I myself have a bunch of legendary parts and can easily dominate in the lower ranking with time like taking candy from a baby but i dont as I dont want to feel like a p2w scrub
It is pretty clear that paying players have such a huge advantage that it is clearly a p2w economy

People give an excuse of this being in alpha
Well it isnt "alpha" if its pretty much just a ready game for what? i dont remember 3-4 years?
The developers and people who still play this even though its keeps getting more p2w in front of their eyes use the term "alpha" as if it deserves it anymore
Guess what? it isnt ♥♥♥♥ing alpha if the game has full blown micro transaction progression in it

I still come back in hopes to see this game become lke it was again but that has not happened for almost a year now and its clearly not happening in the future

tldr: p2w keep away

The game was good. Prior to this big update. The items are now gotten by chance in crates. They used to be obtained by getting lots of credit by doing good in a match. Now, its simply enough to be in the match. You can also pay for better crates that yield better items. This game was great a few months ago, but now it is pay to win.

game = bad

Before Giant UI and game mechics update:
-Im tier 10
-pretty op
-lost of those blue credits
-super fun

Newest Updates:
-Rip blue credits for *drumroll* 2 protonium crates -_-
-back to square one
-new pay to win parts added
-pretty much require premium

Its still a good a game and I reccomned to new players but for me who been here the entire journey and got to the top of the ranks to be deprived of everything is a horrible experience.
