The Escapists: The Walking Dead is Coming!

IT'S TIME TO ESCAPE THE WALKING DEAD

PRISONERS,

You've escaped from our best efforts to keep you locked up, you've broken free from America's most notorious prison, you've even built a tank to bust out of a military POW camp. You think you're hot stuff. But it's not over yet. Today, we unveiled The Escapists The Walking Dead - a new game in The Escapists series developed by Team17 in partnership with Skybound Entertainment, creators of The Walking Dead comic book series.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXN9ivXHdAk
The Escapists The Walking Dead sees you wake up in Harrison Memorial Hospital as Rick Grimes. You'll escape the horror unfolding there using familiar methods - craft gear to create escape routes and construct weapons to defend yourself from the flesh-eating horde. You'll also need to learn some new tricks, including the use of ranged weapons for the first time in The Escapists!

Later, Rick will take charge of a band of survivors featuring many of the original The Walking Dead comic book cast. He must secure the safety of the group by seeking out an escape route in each of the game's areas and manage several dangerous tasks to keep as many of the group alive as possible. The Escapists The Walking Dead faithfully matches the timeline of the comics and so, as you make progress in the game, you play through locations that mirror the progress of the band of survivors taken from the award winning comic's epic story.

The Escapists The Walking Dead is coming soon to PC and Xbox One. To keep up with all the latest news, follow Zombie Jimmy Locke on Twitter. Be sure to check out InTheLittlewood's first playthrough of the Tutorial level too:

About This Game

The Escapists provides the opportunity of experiencing a light-hearted insight into everyday prison life and, as is the case with all inmates, the main objective is escape! While under the careful watch of the guards, players will need to go about their daily duties clandestinely secreting useful objects from under their captors’ noses. Potential escapees will learn how to craft seemingly innocuous items into useful tools and even weapons as well as using them to execute cunning diversionary tactics.

Players will need to learn when to keep in line, utilising their time sensibly as they develop their own personal plans of escape. Learning the prison’s daily routines and spotting opportunities are all part of life behind bars. Working out potential routes and even misdirecting guards soon become second nature.

Whilst remembering to attend roll-call, holding down their job and keeping their fellow inmates on side, players are can also benefit from advancing their character's statistics through various means including boosting their intellect and exercising regularly. Balance mundane routine with careful planning to attain your ultimate goal - escape and freedom!

  • 8 Fully operational prisons complete with routines to give you a flavour of how it *really* is inside!
  • 10 Separate job opportunities for you to sink your teeth into… If you have the knowledge to earn and hold down these employment paths of course!
  • 185+ Unique Items for you to seek out and perhaps even craft useful items with. (Team17 fully endorse the use of various weapons such as ‘shivs’, ‘nunchucks’ and ‘maces’ – within a fictional setting of course!).
  • Various Favour types for you to tackle offered up by inmates – You wouldn't want to go upsetting them now, would you?
  • Highly opinionated and incredibly funny inmates and guards to keep you on your toes as well as providing entertainment!
  • Multiple escape routes for you to work out and achieve the title of ‘The Escapist’!
  • Multiple save slots so you can have more than one escape attempt on the go!
  • Steam Achievements to strive for.
  • Steam Leaderboards – Once you have escaped see how you fared against other successfully escaped players!
  • Prison Editor – Create from scratch your very own confinement masterpiece and share it with the community!

Awesome game!

I play this game all the time (still stuck on Shankton State Pen though D:<) and I'm amazed by the amount of mechanics and items in the game!

When I first saw the game, I glossed over it as "just another prison escape game." Then I learned about jobs, storing items in a vent, prison takeovers, wrapping people in a rope so you can steal their job, and things like that!

I think something that should be added is more abilities for NPCs. As of now, if an NPC has contraband in their desk, and they are called for a cell search, nothing happens. Something else I would love to see added is multiplayer, perhaps you could make a local game where two people can try to escape a prison, or there can be minigames which players from around the world can play!

All in all, this is a very fun game and I think you should play it!

I love this game so much. I saw Jacksepticeye playing this and after 2 episodes i was determined to play it. I am so happy I bought it, I escaped from 4 prisons and I still love it. The only con I have is that you need to save on the end of a gameday so you need at least half an hour to do something and I don't always have that much time.
