Very Short point and click hidden object. As in I beat this in under 5 hours and I spent half that time doing real life stuff and not playing short. Simple plot. But the puzzels are good, midlevel difficulty. The voice acting isn't unpleasent. The graphics are good. It's just really short and there's no replayability.

I got it on holiday sale for less than a buck, and that's what it was worth.

A decent HOG in my opinion.

I wouldn’t say that this is the most popular of genres when it comes to games and I would say they are usually rated pretty low because of that fact.
The genre within itself is pretty cheesy. The stories are usually quite silly, making excuses as to why you have to find a load of junk amongst more junk and generally being pretty lame. But I amongst a lot of other people actually enjoy these games. They are a guilty pleasure for me I must admit. I used to sit and play them with my mum, seeing as they really are the middle aged woman’s kind of game.

With all that said when it comes to playing and rating hidden object games, I usually tend to just rate them by how bearably cheesy they are. This one being pretty bearable.

The story is interesting and compared to what I have seen of other HOGs, is a bit more logical.
I guess?
Most HOGs, you’re a detective or investigator of some sort looking for clues to solve a case, at least that’s a popular one, but even then in those cases you are just collecting random bits of crap. You know, a tooth brush, some hamster hair, a spade and a packet of hobnobs, calling them “clues” and wah-la! We’ve found the killer!
No, no. In Mirror Mysteries you’re searching for pieces of a mirror, scattered through different worlds and realms. There is of course the obligatory point and click “I’m not going to just straight up give you what you are looking for, first YOU need to do something for ME” so you end up solving a lot of other people’s problems to. But still, as far as HOGs go… at least it makes more sense. Which was nice!

The whole find/place mechanic in this game is something I liked also. You can jump in and out of scenes easily and in some cases need to jump back and forth to proceed. It’s not at all tedious, it’s actually a bit of fresh air. HOGs usually have a set screen, you solve that screen entirely before moving on. This at least gives you a bit of freedom to do more than one thing at once. Or at least, it feels that way. It’s nice this genre of game not being so linear for once! I like it!

Like many HOGs the resolution for this game is a bit low. It’s never been an issue for me, the genre itself just looks old and dated so low res has never bothered me. But I have noticed in reviews that a lot of other people take this very seriously! So just to warn ya!

Apart from that and the game being fairly short (which I sometimes, especially with HOGs, I actually like) all in all I would say this is a decent game. If you are a fan of the genre I would say definitely give this a try. Although I haven’t played the second one yet. Should be interesting!

TL;DR: As far as HOGs go, decent story, nice mechanics, bit short (I completed it in an hour), low res but generally a good game. Go for it.

For anyone interested, My Review for Mirror Mysteries 2:

This game should be reclassified as a 'tidying up simulator'. The narrative feels as if written by an 8 year old... Lady with two children park outside abandoned house (I don't know why, they just like the look of it). Lady wakes up to find kids have disappeared into house. Turns out a talking mirror has somehow trapped them in his 'mirror world'.

To save your idiot children, you have to visit several different 'mirror worlds' (I don't know the exact terminology) and tidy up random junk. Each room is a still image - most items you can find without even knowing what it is you're looking for because they stand out like a sore testicle. Others are more difficult just because they're in a dark corner on the very edge of the screen. So you'll want to straighten back up to avoid unfavorable glare during your physical slump into boredom.

The 'puzzles' are equally as basic. You just need to click everything the game tells you. Even if you can't find them, the Hint button will glow every now and then, pointing out the exact location of an unfound item. Expect weak dialogue, for example: "I should've been a plumber, these pipes are broken" (even though she fixes several pipes and alike throughout the prior chapters). Most of the 'interactive' parts will be: find a locked box in area 1, you have no key. Go to area 2 - sure enough you will find the key - treat yourself to the previous area's elusive items.

You fix the broken mirror (did I mention the your children broke the mirror?... Mirror's crime was justified) and then (SPOILERS)... In the end, it was all a dream... Honest truth. Shocking.

I've played a few dire creations by this point, but I did complete this one, though I'm not sure why.

Short, simplistic, not always intuitive, and has no story as such. Although if you get it at a bargain price, it's still a decent amusement.

It's a fun enough Hidden Object Game, but lasts only two hours. It has a slightly irritating feature of making you traipse around different screens, and even with this time wasting aspect, you can complete it in two hours.

As such I can't really recommend the game, but it does have positives hence the thumbs up, especially if you get it for 39p like I did. Full price it's not worth it, but at a discount it can be put on swiftly for a coffee break. In that respect it's okay.

Reasons for positive vote: it's stable, it doesn't crash at all, saves every time, fun to dip in and out of. Don't expect much from a H.O.G, and there are far better out there. But for the price I paid, I can't complain.

Negatives: the cheesiest intro and story section going. The graphics are grim, and the plot threadbare. Come for the object finding only, and a rather pleasant boogly-eyed goldish in the later worlds.

Mirror Myteries is a typical hidden object point and click adventure game. The core of gameplay is finding objects in different locations to solve the mystery and complete the game.

It's a game that tests your observation and memory skills.

The storyline is based around a mother and her children. The children go missing in an big old house they had gone to "adventure" in. The break a mirror, and it's your job to retrieve the pieces and repair the mirror - the rest I'll leave for you to find out.

The graphics are decent - and present well. Don't expect any flashy cut scenes, or mind bending music, or out of this world rendering. It's simply simple. MM can be completed in an evening.

I find playing games such as this in between more had core gaming, a great way to "have a break".

At a couple of bucks to buy, it's worth it if you link hidden object mysteries.

Short but fun Hidden Object game. I finished it in about 2 hours in one sitting. It's got surprisingly good voice acting for the most part too.

This is 99% hidden objects with 1 puzzle per world and the puzzles are super easy (and you can even skip them). But the hidden object part was challenging without being frustrating. Fun times.

  • This is a good introduction for people looking for: "My first hidden object game"
  • This game is not hard, nor too long; I'd estimate around 2~3 hours using no hints.
  • This game has a horrible story and voice acting; but that's par for the course for hidden object games.
  • Buy this game when it goes on sale.

This was a fun way to waste some time, and you can't ask for more than that from a hidden object game. It's short, and easy, so get it cheap. Probably not worth $5 because you can find these kinds of games free all over the net, but it's worth a few coins in the cup of the developer, for sure. I liked it enough to buy the sequel, too.

I'm a sucker for hidden object games. My naughty children broke a magic mirror, which then stole them. I had to piece the mirror back together by helping the many characters who had found the shards. Took a couple of pleasant hours. No real puzzles, and very simple finding the various objects. But that's what I wanted from a game like this.

Just finished it on the first go. Less then 2 hours and not very challenging. The plot is a bit thin and I never felt like I had something to gain from completing it. It has nice visuals for the puzzle parts mostly. It was dirt cheap, so I don't feel like I have been cheated, but I would have liked to play a longer game with a more rewarding story.

Only for die-hard fanatics of the HOG type of games.

As far as hidden object games go, this one definitely cuts back on the "find random, unrelated things for no reason" aspect, and is not overly easy or difficult. My largest complaint is the ending. The game is creepy and suspenseful and completely let me down. Hard. I streamed this blind and my viewers were also taken aback by the sheer lameness of the ending, both in concept and script. Bottom line: playing through the game is engaging and enjoyable but do it for the sake of doing it, not for any merit in the storyline.

This is a nice, fairly short hidden object game. Nothing particularly special IMO, but not a bad way to kill a few hours (it took me about 3 hours, in one sitting). There are seven levels to clear, each with a few rooms, and you'll sometimes need to go back and forth between them to get everything you need and place objects where they belong. For the most part, it wasn't too difficult to do this, but there were times when objects were particularly well hidden and I used the built-in hint system to help me get them. There's a short delay between using hints, so you can't use them in a row quickly, and clicking on wrong objects a number of times in a row (semi-quickly) seems to active a similar cool-down period. There's also a magnifying glass available to zoom in on the scenes, but that didn't seem helpful to me. Besides simply finding objects and placing them, there are also a few puzzles to solve, which is nice because it adds some variety to the game play. Only one of these puzzles stumped me: the safe in the forest area, the 5th level, I think. Rather than brute-force it, I went to a walkthrough for the solution. The puzzle was to turn the dials on the safe until the symbols lined up correctly, but I didn't notice any clue to help me figure out what the correct symbol order was. I did see clues for other puzzles though, so maybe I just missed them here, but this stood out to me as probably the main negative point. Overall the game is generally fun and not too long, but there doesn't seem to be much replay value, since there are no achievements or anything. And once you've seen the story (which is relatively basic, but helps move things along), I don't think there's anything really new to see in the game. Given that and that it's $5 for ~3 hours of game play, maybe less because I wasn't fully concentrating on playing the whole time, I might suggest waiting for a sale, but if you like games of this type, you'll probably enjoy this one.
