Awesome folks,

Update FaceRig now to get more props ^.^

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-Bp3GgCTMw&feature=youtu.be

Are you a sports fan?
We've added the football helmet, the bullhorn, the glove and the warning light. Doge seems to have an affinity towards that bullhorn.
We've also included a lovely rose which can be used as a hair accessory (hint try it on Midori).
The story book is another prop added, now Granny Hazel's stories can come to life.

Have a lovely day,

About This Software

FaceRig is a program enabling anyone with a webcam to digitally embody awesome characters. It is meant to be an open creation platform so everybody can make their own characters, backgrounds or props and import them into FaceRig.

FaceRig is being developed by Holotech Studios and the image-based face tracking SDK being used is provided by ULSee Inc. To find out more about ULSee Inc., visit http://ulsee.com or email them at info@ulsee.com. Our previous tracking technology was provided by Visage Technologies.

FaceRig has three versions:
  • FaceRig Classic is the base version of FaceRig, which allows for home non-profit use and even limited monetization on YouTube/Twitch or similar as long as the commercial aspect of it is not significant. We consider commercially significant using it on any avenue (channel) that produces you more than $500 monthly revenue. This includes ad-based revenue and voluntary donations (one time or recurrent such as a Patreon). If you are under this threshold you can use Classic, if you are above you need to upgrade to Pro or Studio.
  • the FaceRig Pro DLC, which allows you to monetize videos on YouTube/Twitch regardless of the monthly revenue, but not for content exclusive to paid/subscription based services, such as the new YouTube Red (for content that is exclusive to YouTube Red or similar you will need FaceRig Studio).
FaceRig Pro does not bring new assets, technical features or improvements to FaceRig Classic. For more details, take a look at the Pro DLC description
  • the Studio Version, which is not yet publicly released and will allow for unlimited commercial use, as well as access to the expression mo-cap data. For more details about this version, contact Holotech Studios.

We believe that FaceRig will entertain many gamers, modelling and animation artists, members of various fandoms, streamers, web casters, YouTubers and their audiences.
For now we're focusing on just tracking and rendering the portrait with its expressions, but we aim to do more in the future. The FaceRig end goal is to provide a full featured real time digital actor set for home use.

Key Features:
  • Real time head and expression tracking in an input video stream, (also with audio analysis).
  • Combining tracked data with additional virtual puppeteering input.
  • On-the-fly animation re-targeting for the tracked data and applying the animation on a user selected 3d model, with audio processing (voice alteration)
  • Rendering and lighting the animated model in real time, in a user selected background.
  • Encoding the rendered video and sending it further as output from a virtual webcam (it basically intercepts webcam input, and swaps the images captured by your real webcam with the fantastic content before sending it further).
  • Provide the interface for tuning the parameters of all operations above.
  • Customizable avatars
  • Open creation platform: you can make your own models (outside of FaceRig), import and use them as your avatars. The models need to be created according to a set of published specs.

Notes:
Numeric export of the tracked expression data (exporting the motion capture data to use in other applications) will be a feature reserved for the Studio version. FaceRig Classic and Pro only output already rendered video and audio.

FaceRig is an indie initiative, and its development so far has been successfully crowd-funded through Indiegogo. A warm thank you goes to our amazing backers for their support and enthusiasm.

I don't like to give bad reviews on a product. Facerig is a god send for a person that wants to keep their real life self hidden from the internet using a mask of a character. The problem is that making your own 3D character to work with this software is a pain and have a high risk of failure. It is a shame. I had high hopes for this software.

I commissioned somebody to design a 3D model for facerig and he soon run into trouble. He tried to get support to get it working, but support ended up turning their back on him. I tried to see that facerig devs can expand their rigging services, but instead I was told to throw the person that commissioned back into the lion's den. He soon came back telling me that it didn't work out as once again they became quiet. He told me that we may not be the target audience for this software and I agreed with him. They did turn their back on us twice.

I wanted it do a youtube video on my channel to complain about facerig, but I couldn't figure out how to do it without breaking my character and going OOC. Right now the only thing I can do is warn people that making avatar for this software is a high risk thing and the community is slowly disappearing. I wish you luck if you continue.

I wanted to be a Hamburger all my life. My teacher asked what I wanted to be I then replied "a hamburger" she turned around, laughing, she then turns around saying that i should choose a more realistic thing. Every now and then i put tomato's, mustard, onions and more and then look into the mirror thinking when i can become one then this came out and finally now i am a hamburger :D

Great, except for one problem. The rig system keeps picking up the frame of my glasses. It always thinks I"m either squinting or my eyebrows are down, and has a tendency to blip between the two. Unfortunately, I am too nearsighted to see my screen without them, so I can't use it until that either gets fixed, or I find contacts to which I am not allergic, but I would love it if this software were commonly used. Makes online life more interesting.

Saying this first, don't buy this if your only purpose for this purchase is messing with it, there's not much fun outside of having some cartoon character doing funky faces. No, this product is more for content creators, who either want to display their reactions without showing their real face, being displayed as an actual living avatar, or just as some roundabout joke thing.

Even with Ubisoft's Your Shape's crappy webcam that I always use for this, FaceRig reproduces my facial expressions well enough, and there are a lot of in-depth option settings to fine-tuning the avatar's reactions, such as eyebrows, lower lip, etc.

There already exists many avatars to choose from in the main build, which you can customize to an extent, and there's also Steam Workshop where you can also use user-made models (most of which is for the Live2D DLC though).

I mean sure, go for it if you think that'd be funny, it sure was when I included it in some of my videos.

It works surprisingly well! I wasn't sure how good it would be, but it captures both facial expressions and head movement very well.

Pros:
- Accurate head+face tracking. They seem to have nailed this technology.
- 21 different models (some with alternative skins), from humans to orcs to raccoons and even dragons. Some of them are a little creepy but there's enough variety and colour to keep it interesting, and they all work well. (Also different backgrounds)
- You can stream it to Skype/Twitch: one click of the Toggle Streaming button and everything your webcam usually sees will be replaced by the animation.

Cons:
- If you haven't got your webcam positioned quite right then it can lose track of you and the animation resets, which is *really* annoying.
- Not always very obvious how to use it. I can't figure out how to save the movies as a regular format (it has its own custom filetype). That might just be me, but there's no instruction manual of any sort.
- Price. $15 for what is essentially a gimmick, might not be worth it to you.
- IT USES COMIC SANS. I wish I was joking.

These are only minor problems. In conclusion, it's a good, fun piece of software.
Score: 10/10 would facerig again
