Eorzea. A Land embraced by Gods and forged by Heroes. Seeking control of this realm and its abundant crystal resources, the Garlean Empire sends forth a massive host on a campaign to conquer its southern neighbor. Driven by madness, the commander of the invading forces silently plots to tear the moon from the heavens and hurl it down upon the land. The people of the realm soon learn of this foul scheme, and join their hands in prayer in an eleventh-hour attempt to entreat the aid of the gods, only to see their endeavors fail. From within the moon emerges Bahamut, an ancient terror seething with rage fueled by countless generations of imprisonment. Sensing the tug of Fate, a powerful magus channels the last of his strength to send Eorzea’s heroes into a temporal rift. There they wait, untouched by the flames of destruction, until they are needed again. Those heroes are you, and the hour of awakening is now. Come and witness a realm reborn.

Final Fantasy XIV, the original one, was a mess. The servers were terrible, payments were unfair and confusing, and the game just made it so difficult for you to enjoy. Square Enix realised, "holy hell, this is bad" and revamped the game, leading to the release of A Realm Reborn. And boy did they do good.

A Realm Reborn is not only a more polished FF XIV, it is a new game. It offers so much more than the original. Better service, better gameplay, more engrossing quests, everything an MMO can offer is in this game. A Realm Reborn is by far the best Final Fantasy of the last console generation, and it is perhaps the best FF I have ever played. It stays true to it's roots, but still manages to not be a total copy cat of previous FF games. It borrows alot from the orginal series, when Final Fantasy was at it's best, but adds a sense of freshness so that FF new-comers could pick up the game and play it as their first FF and still have a wonderful experience.

Detail is where this game excells. The amount of effort into making this as refined as possible is staggering. You could honestly sit at the character creation screen for an hour, picking the tiniest things about your hero. The environments are fantastic, and it's hard to believe that an MMO looks this good.

As well as being the best Final Fantasy in years, it is also groundbreaking in the MMO genre. It offers so much to the genre as a whole, it has made a name for it's self as one of the greatest MMOs in recent years. It is addicting. It is enchanting. It is simply bliss.

Square Enix have really made me regain my faith in them, and I hope that they let future Final Fantasies learn from A Realm Reborn. I cannot wait until more content is added into the game, and clock in a few more hours. Get yourself this game now, even just for the free trial, it's worth it. Even if you're a hardcore FF fan, or a newcomer looking for a game to start with. This is the one.

+ Essentially has it all. Near enough limitless gameplay hours

+ Environments look stunning, attention to detail is incredible

+ Smooth gameplay, easy to learn mechanics

+ Makes great homage to previous Final Fantasy games

- A lot of fetch quests

- Occasional bug here and there

10/10. This is a fantastic game. Get it. Now.

Warning: Very addictive, beautiful, cute, detailed, supple, (user)friendly game :D

I played wow, guildwars 2, lotro for example and they used the good parts out of these games combined with their own great new ideas.

Have lot's of fun !

I'm a longtime World of Warcraft player, but even longer Final Fantasy fan, so trying this game for me was an interesting amount of mixed feelings. Being tired and bored with Mists of Pandaria, having completed much of the endgame, Dranor was too far away, I ended it.
(I've played since Vanilla age, so it's been a long ride of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ if you know what I mean. Especially with raiding guilds now a days.)

One of my old friends had been telling me about this game for a while, and claimed it was amazing, the usual generic shpeal.

I figured, why not, what's the harm?
First night playing the game, I took a good ten minutes just staring at the starting screen and character creation, it's quite nice with the amount of options we get. While I wouldn't say it could be as godtier as EvE or Conan, it's still better than "Pick from 4 hairstyles and ♥♥♥♥ty colors" While creating a character I noticed just how clean and fluid the animations where, the character really seemed.. alive.

Entering the first town, I watched the environment shift from an awesome sunset with shadows being cast over the hills and valley's this town sat in, and fireflies slowly sparkle with the dusk and night to follow. Players ran from here to there, I roamed around doing starter quests and discovered the first market area, an actual market with actual trading and people being "Kind" to one another, shocking for an MMO right?

Every quest character gives full dialogue and reason, it isn't just a slab of text and it sends you off to do X or kill X, even though every quest is such. While fighting I enjoyed many of the animations for skills, I chose Archer as my class, I'm still enjoying my pick.
Then I found out I can multi-split into several jobs to create a super class, this made me even more excited. You can be everything and anything if you spend the time, gear is another story entirely, but I do look forward to my quest on becoming a Bard.

I'm still new to this game, but only a few hours of it and I'm hooked, it just has a nice relaxing feeling with that real dark forshadowing of a Final Fantasy game to it, I look forward to the possibility. I don't care if anybody reads this review, likes it or not, I mainly have it for friends of mine to follow if they so choose.
If you want a colorful beautiful vivid MMO to play and not want to play the creepyness of Tera, this is it for you.
(By creepyness, I mean the little loli's that run about. In this game, you get posh british lepers)

I would trade my years of WoW for all the Gil, and gear of this game, it holds the charms and feeling of a community that WoW once did, and I've tried on plenty of the servers.
FF14ARR seems to have gained a lot of players from all sorts of old and outdated MMO's, perhaps this is the next hotspot? Who knows.
Enjoy it either way.

In addition.
Do you like Cat girls?
Do you? Do you? Do you? Are you ready? Are you READY?
Good, there's a ♥♥♥♥ton of them.

If you loved the Burning Crusade expansion you should pick this game up now, it's moments away from that awesome World of Warcraft captured.

Join me (In Game: Maison Looi) and my Free Company (Guild) on the Sargatanas server under the Aether data centre or add me to Steam.

After putting many, many, many hours into this game and not even have finished it as of yet this game is outstanding, I am a huge fan of all the FF's this is absolutely amazing, this is the most i've spent on a game within the past 4 days because it's simply addicting and keeps me up all night, Squire Enix have out done themselves and i honestly can't wait for more content on this. I personally advise anyone to get this if you love MMO's or even RPG's.

Also you should realize that in this game there's already ALOT and i mean ALOT to do even though there's not that much ''new'' content. This game will suck up time and it'll be worth it if you enjoy games and love to get into it, I'm just going to simply say that this game is worth it and that if you enjoy taking your time in games and exploring the different crafting options and classes then you'll love this game with a passion. In my eyes i think Square Enix did an ppretty much perfect on this game.. Since i'm a huge FF fanboy i'd rate this 10/10 however i think MOST people would say 8.5/10 or even a 9/10.. but all in all i think it's a amazing MMO.
