"Suguri looks very much like earlier doujinsoft titles in appearance. If you can find charm in that, this game offers an exceptional adrenaline rush."

Reviews

“Suguri takes a different approach and provides a means for the player to fly past bullet patterns, making it more accessible to casual and newer players. Suguri's defining feature is its dash ability; with it, players can go through beam projectiles without taking damage and charge up their super meter for explosive attacks. If you try to dash through solid projectiles like missiles and bombs, however, you would be stopped dead in your tracks and take damage. This, in addition to a heat gauge that will overheat when the player dashes too much, prevents players from abusing the feature and go through the game dashing nonstop.”

“And as you make progress with Suguri, you’ll find yourself unlocking many weapons to choose from. Suguri can equip two weapons, and you can set them as Weapon A and Weapon B. The main difference between A and B is that A can be used for normal attack as well as the Hyper attack; and B can only be used for normal attacks.” ... ” A good combinations of weapon equipment which complements the player’s skills will be the key to beating the levels. It almost feels like a puzzle, which is a plus for a shooter game.”

“The original Suguri serves as a primer to the gameplay of Acceleration of Suguri in many ways.”

Although simple and fun, this game is sort of fast paced and can be confusing once there are multiple enemies on the screen firing at you at the same time making it hard for you to dodge as well as focus. But if you like a game where enjoy moving at high speed and dodging lasers and projectiles while landing hits with 2 of your weapons from an arsenal of weapons then this is the game for you. This game is very much a bullet hell.

Note That:

This game has bosses

This game has sort of a mini bosses

This game has difficult settings that really give you somewhat a challenge. It ha 4 difficulty settings i.e. Easy, Normal, Hard, and Special. The Special difficulty really gives you a challenge.

Heat gauge depends on how long you accelerate. The more the heat guage goes up, the more damage you are more compelled to take in from enemies.

P.S.
This game does have achievement glitches. I managed to get every achievement except the achievement if unlocking all weapons of which I did.

Quick Summary
This localized game is a very unique type of bullet hell, however, extremely difficult.

Purchase Verdict: Yes

Points of Interest
-Dated assets (it's an older game, localized in the past few years, and brought to steam even more recently), however that does not detract from gameplay. The art is still very appealing.

-Innovative system based on locking onto targets and dashing, as well as a large arsenal of weapons at your disposal.

-Extremely difficult, with both an arcade and stage select mode.

Before you buy this game, keep aware that the game is insanely hard (even on easymode) on players who are new to bullet hells. (I learned this the hard way). Suguri is a fast paced action shooter, kept my heart beating a lot faster than your average horror game.

Pros

-I found this unique, there were an arsenal of many weapons with different kinds of tactics to put into use.
-The dash ability was a very crucial yet fun way to progress through the game.
-Game is very fast paced, there won't be a time when your body is relaxed (except when you're talking the bosses). It really keeps the excitement in the game
-1st stage soundtrack was the best c:

Cons

-There wasn't any tutorial, nor any guide to tell you that dashing can dodge beam attacks unscathed. You would have to also check the keyboard controls to realize its function before starting the game.

In conclusion, this game is one of the best bullet hells I have ever played. 9.5/10

P.S I prefer keeping the game under a window mode.

  • Have a loading screen? (for a game)
  • Have less than an hour or so to kill?
  • Bored out of your mind?
  • Feel like playing an arcade game?
If you said Yes to any of these questions this is the game for you. I use this game to kill some time for when I have to wait for those 5min loading screens in other games, or just have to wait for a relatively short period of time.
