This game is beautiful. Like, it's fun as ♥♥♥♥, it got some nice visuals and an okay story. This phrase I just wrote does not make justice to how fun this game is. It's really ♥♥♥♥ing fun, slicing people up, shooting, making those dodges right at the last moment and slicing your enemy in pieces. It's wonderful. Its gameplay may be simple, but it's fun.
The story itself, may not make much sense at some times, but it's not like it's complete trash and horrible, it's a story that it's there, and if you are as clueless as me, you'll even get surprised by it and find it good. Some characters are also very charismatic (or annoying, depending on your taste), and some are just forgetful and are there just for the sake of having someone.
The gameplay, as fun as it is has some flaws, although some might be my fault, as I suck. Like the spin attack, which is pretty much useless as it leaves you too vulnerable and not once in the game there is enough enemies around you to justify using it. When finishing killing a boss, there is a little QTE where you must hold the F button to raise your sword and release it to cut the enemy. This QTE is used to make the player feel the action was him, it was the player himself killing the person, but the result is not as great, as it is not fun holding down the button. Some upgrades also never appeared for me during my play, which I find it weird (although I think those are unlocked with good score or side missions, which neither I did it).
The music is gold, ♥♥♥♥ing gold. It makes a very good mood, not mattering the stage.
One of my main complaints with the game, is that it felt short. I finished it in seven hours, but it definitely felt less and it also felt easy. If you are a experienced gamer or action player, you might want to up the difficult a bit, playing it on Hard or Very Hard, as I felt normal was too easy, especially the bosses (and mainly the final boss). But granted, the game might feel short, but it has side missions and the gigolo missions, which I didn't even try. Although the main story feels short, especially as some chapters are literally 3 minutes of gameplay and 10 of cutscene, the side missions and gigolo missions and even the rating system and leaderboards try to make up for that fact.
As I bought this game, I was afraid as I heard some comments about the PC port, saying that it crashed a lot and was unstable. I am happy to say that is not true, at least in my case. The PC port is a good port, with good keyboard/mouse controls (although QTEs are kinda annoying to do on the mouse), with, unfortunately, few graphics options. And it didn't crash once.
While I'm not sure it deserves a full price buy, it is a great, underrated game, which any suda51 and action fan must play. It is easily an 8/10.
