Valiant hearts: The great War... This game will kick your feels HARD. Like really, REALLY HARD.
The gameplay is simple and allow to full immerge in the story, low replayability in itself (only the hunt of the collectibles or wanting to read the story again) but one single play... One single play of this story ALONE is worth in full the cost of the game.

Buy it and play it, you will NEVER regret the money spent for it.

(Only cons: REQUIRES UPLAY TO PLAY IT EVEN ON STEAM... But it's so worth that this should not stop you at all. On a side note I didn't had any issue with UPLAY at all so it didn't really disturbed me.)

My summary:
BUY IT! Valiant Hearts is a perfect blend of story, diverse gameplay, and puzzle solving. Rooted in historical events, it is a powerful game that can move you to tears. You follow a story which separates father and son on two different sides of the war. Joining them, a US soldier with nothing to live for (save his friend Emile), a French field-medic trying to reach her father, and a loyal dog separated from its owner. They will all struggle in the war until the end, and no one will ever be the same again.

Pros:
I really want to say my favorite game of all time but I think that would be going too far. I think it may be my favorite indie-esque 2d game of recent memory, perhaps only with Bastion and To The Moon as competitors. What I do like about it is it has less gameplay than bastion but more gameplay than To The Moon. For me, it is the perfect mix of the two, and does both well.

Cons:
In general some of the puzzles are so not-obvious it becomes frustrating but they do provide a neat optional hint system. The difficulty is also appreciated rather than dumbing them down completely. Additionally a few elements like the medic revive functions (just mashing buttons in guitar hero fashion) is a bit of a downer to such an exciting game, but it is a very minor component of the game.

Story (9.5/10): Amazing, there are very few video games that can compare. I have a few minor complaints about it but they aren't worth mentioning and I do not want to spoil the surprises along the way.

Art (9.5/10): Really unique and awesome, my ONLY complaint is that it can become a but blurry and pixelated when some of the sprites zoom in during cinematics.

Sound (10/10): From the mutterings in every language to the music to the narration this couldn't possibly be better.

Gameplay (9/10) Because of a few annoying puzzles that are almost intentionally obscure and the medical revive system which is bashing buttons, I can't give this a perfect score. But everything else about it is perfect. Seriously, it feels so good and just when you think a mechanic is getting old, you get put in a tank, car, or are dodging mines or gun fire.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a game about, yep, the Great War, and it is emotional, puzzling, suitably difficult and with a good plot.

Pros:
- Good plot based on a soldier and his experiences of the War
- Nice animation, mostly smooth
- Easy to pick up and play, with easily learned controls
- Good achievements
- LOADS of collectibles
- Superb music
- Challenging puzzles mixed with action
- Perfect for most ages, particularly adults
- Raises many interesting questions

Cons:
- Sometimes the fps goes down very low and so waiting times for things like hints almost double

9/10 or A-

This is a great game, it has good storyline and its fun to play because of the puzzle levels.
I can recommend it to everyone but I think it could be a bit longer because I finished the game after 6 hours but I still love it.

How to play "Valiant Hearts: The Great War":

Step 1: Lie down.
Step 2: Try not to cry.
Step 3: Cry a lot.

The only game, where it`s worth to instal Uplay.

10/10 would dance to band at train station again.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War is a great 2d animated sidescroller game, which will make you relive the war times,

Pros
1) Interesting and deep story which you will take part in with different characters
2) Game teach you about past war events our ancestors lived in person
3) Easy to play (Except some quick time events which require a bit of skill)
4) UPlay points to buy even more content for the game for "free"
5) A great amount of collectibles, which will explain you how war times were
6) Great artistical locations and music

Cons
1) A bit too short, would've loved more content of the game, as it's quite good
2) The feels ! The moment you think it's going to be good, it turns downside

The game uses UPlay client, but it's not even noticeable, and by playing and progressing the game, you even get UPlay points which you can spend on other Ubisoft games to purchase In-Game content.

P.S. Ubisoft did a great job with this game, thumbs up.

Intense, touching, emotional. A jump'n'run which not only captivates the player because of its easily accessible layout but also because of its storyline. If you are interested in "the war to end all wars", you will have to get this game.

Wow, what a beautiful game. I really loathe Ubisoft, but I have the utmost respect for Ubi Art. Make sure when you play to try to pick up all collectibles and press TAB to read about them. Read all historical facts and diary entries as they come along. These things gives so much information and depth to the game. I have learned more about WW I than I thought I would and in the best way possible, as a game.

There is a lot of emotional depth as well and we get to understand and feel for all characters in the game.

Highly recommended.

This is an absolute masterpiece. Every aspect of Valiant Hearts is a work of art. I'm so friggen glad I finally got around to playing this.

If you're 1 of those people protesting against UPlay. Do yourself a favor & move that picket line on to the next game. You're doing yourself a disservice by avoiding this title.
