This is not Gauntlet even though it tries to wear its 'skin'. Why do re-imaginings always insist on screwing up the core dynamics of the base game? This just left me frustrated and angry.

Such a fun game even playing by yourself, not too difficult to grasp in the beginning, no crazy stores, powers, etc. Definitely would recommend to ANYONE.

I strongly recommend this game. It is short but the game play itself is the purchase. Playing with your friends is strongly encouraged and you get to rip into the person that kills the food.

BEST. RPG REMAKE. EVER (well, maybe this part is a bit exaggerated)!

If you're not old enough to bullseye'd by nostalgia, you will definitely get hit by it's bosses over and over again!
God, either I'm too old for gaming, or this remake is kinda harder than I remember.
Still loving it!

Only played for a few hours but already my interest in this game is near lost. While the original had you with hundreds of life, the creator of this thought it would be a good idea for you to have a tiny health bar and you die in anywheres from 2-4 hits. The second level I'm being chased by death, which does instant-kill moment it touches you and it spawns right next to you. Very dissapointing.

Short and sweet with fantastic gameplay. Great for local coop if you're an old school gamer and miss that kind of thing. The different classes give the game great replayability and the higher difficulties can be really challenging.

Love this game, simple, quick to pick up and enjoy changing the characters gear around (when comparing to the 80's when that never happened.

Good to play when you mains are down and your killing time with mates.

I bought this when the Steam Summer 2016 sale was on however I had it in my wishlist for quite some time expecting to pay full price when things got calmer irl.

I bought it so my fiancee and I could play together and because I remember playing the arcade version and falling in love with it.

My fiancee doesn't play games at all other than a few Match-3s on her phone. She was hooked by Gauntlet and bugged me to play. We managed to get 6 hours in on one day and that is from a woman who doesn't really have much interest in games anymore.

If you have a friend to play with locally this game is absolutely amazing. The difficulty pushes the casual player to want to continue and kick some ♥♥♥. The outcome from playing that impressed me the most is the drive from my fiancee to beat a failed stage even though we got our asses handed to us. This is often not the case with casual gamers who will generally quit once thing seem too difficult. She was determined to continue to finish a dungeon.

The graphics are amazing although if you're playing on a TV (Steam Link, as we were), it's incredibly easy to lose sight of your character. Your character is incredibly small when not playing solo in front of a PC screen which does unfortunately cause us to sit uncomfortably close to the TV screen and even then it is naturally hard to see where you character is in the midst of combat. Unfortunately changing the resolution of the game does not remedy this and will only scale down the entire image and not 'expand' like most games will.

If you are looking for a game you can play with someone sitting on your couch, this is most definately one of the best you'll ever find.

They have done the Gauntlet title well with the release of this game.

If you played the original then you will love this game. Or if you have played any top-down shooters. it's very easy to get into this game. have found 0 glitches. This game is full of chalanging floors of enimeies and you play it your way or with 3 other people. 4 player cop same screen. I love this game. if your looking for a fun and addictive chalanging game then buy this whil it's on sale now!!!!

During the Summer Sale we picked up the new Gauntlet four pack. My husband and I took two copies and gave two copies to those who we knew would enjoy them and then promptly got sucked into other games for a bit. Sunday the 10th of July, 2016 we decided to play with my brother. We are almost through to the second shard on Normal difficulty and I am excieted to get through so we can try Hard mode. THE NOSTALGIA!

This isn't the old Gauntlet but it keeps the little things that made them great. I havn't played a hack n slash dungeon crawl that made me feel challanged in any way in a long time. The frustration of accedentally destroying your meat, the consternation when someone else is getting all the gold, and the death from getting mobbed by too many spiders is something that I didn't know I was missing. I wouldn't call this a hard game but then I don't like my wins handed to me like a small child either.

It's the rare good reboot of a classic arcade game. There is a lot which reminds one of Diablo, but that's probably because Diablo owes a lot to the original version of this game. The upgrades in detail, character differences, lite-RPG features, gameplay, etc. are all very nice. Probably the best part. though, is the local multiplayer (which I'd like to see on more games like this). There are no negative points that I have seen so far. For the price, it's a must-have if you want a local co-op game for your PC.

As a big fan of local co op games, I can definetly recommend this one to anyone who enjoys some mindless hack n slash fun with friends. It does a good job recreating the formula that made the original Gauntlet arcade game so fun.

If you remember the good ol' days of Arcade Gauntlet then you'll be right at home here. It plays fantastically when either by yourself or with up to 3 other friends. Though the multiplayer team aspect is where the game really shines through. Each class is distinguished with a different and unique skill set that works well both independently and when combined with others.

Graphics and soundwise, this game is typica 3Dl top-down goodness with sometimes commical, sometimes cringy voice acting.

All in all, Gauntlet is well worth picking up, be it on sale or full price. The ability to link up other friends with 360 controllers to sit and play on the couch gives it the edge over many multiplayer titles that confine you to your own machine these days.

Pick it up and mindlessly have fun, but remember... Don't shoot the food.

So here's my review SO FAR.
I'm an old time fan of Gauntlet Legends, having dumped some small portion of my childhood into the game...
Hours of replaying challenge levels to unlock new heroes, finding all the secrets. Owning that bloody dragon with your beasted out mage... Unlocking the wizard dude who had full stats and not beleving your eyes....

With that said every Gauntlet game since then has lacked everything that was good about Legends. Slayer Edition finally creates a decent rendition thus far of Gauntlet Legends.

Pro's
- Classic Gauntlet/Dungeon Crawl view.
- Seems to be more "mechanics" to more battles than previous gauntlet games.
- Improved combat mechanics. Takes away the "hold X" concept of the came.
- Equipment/Upgrades give it a more RPG feel rather than just level progression (like the old ones).
- Easy to play with friends, online and offline (local co-op).
- Each character is pretty diverse in their contribution to the field.

Con's
- Only 4-5 Characters
- Hard to get a random online game that is immediatly enjoyable.
- Lacking on customization for characters. Progression could be more substantial.

I feel as though a game that has made a name for itself like Gauntlets, could have taken just a little more time to add a lot more to this game. Accommodate the casual and the casual pro.
