An attempt to copy the Warcraft 3 rts style gone horribly wrong.

-Bad sounds,
-bad graphics/animations
-lack of much needed voice acting for cutscenes
-the unit voice acting is horrible
- Multiplayer is dead.
-You can't save in the middle of missions.
-Unit design has no overall theme (2nd lvl had me commanding amazoness warriors agianst an onslaught of robotic crystalline head crab aliens)
-Levels take far too long to load on my SSD.
-Horrible optimization, runs like crap
-Boring gameplay/missions (Like I was given 4 minutes to prepare a defence when it takes like 30 seconds to prepare everything = 3:30 of A L T T A B B O Y S)
-Nonsensical story

+Steam trading cards

Avoid like the plague even if you have a plague fetish. Not worth even as part of a bundle because time is actually important (damn you civ)

So in conclusion "It's like skyrim with cancer"- ign 11/10

It wouldn't even load. I left the crash reporter open until I got my Steam cards.

1.1.8 Steam version

Can't really recommend this game in its current state. - potential spoiled by instability.

Clunky UI, fast pace, animations and sound affects can all be forgiven but the general state of the game engine leaves one feling frustrated and annoyed more times than not.

Frequent crash to desktop including but not limited too campaign scripted triggers and avatar/hero death.

Graphics are okay and fully 3d with map rotation. Base building is present with modular assets added to the main building forcing one to choose wisely according to situation and playstyle. Selection of character types for main hero but they all have the same generic army so its only the skill package that varies limiting replayability on the campaign.

Skirmish maps allow team/ffa setups and introduce another playable faction. (Always crashed... longest match lasted 30-40minutes before crashing)

If they can fix the stability issues then this game may be worth investigating properly but It's difficult to gain any real game time when most skirmish / campaign games crash before completion and have to be started from scratch.

edit: 1 year after 1st trying - fresh install of operatring system, new bios, new main drivers, new secondary drivers same old instability. - Game ships with old physx dependencies, 2008 vcredist and directx june2010.

I'll cut to the chase and get to the point in two sentences, since not many people have a lot of time or money:

1- Save your money for a better game.

2- Reading this? then run, run as far away as you can, and quick.

Frozen Hearth is similar to Baldur's Gate and Age of Empires mixed together. It doesn't offer the versatility of either game, but instead is a territorial defense strategy game, where you claim resource points, create units and take over enemy avatar territory. The game can be played in single player campaign mode, as a skirmish with up to 3 CPU Avatars, in multiplayer and co-op mode, and with varying degree's of difficulty to give yourself a challenge. The game does not offer achievements in Steam, for all the achievement hounds out there, but is still a neat little game.
