It's Baldurs Gate alright. If you're looking for a singleplayer experience on par with the original Baldurs Gate 2, then here it is. Additional characters are very interesting and fun to play with. A few bugs here and there, and some of them are quite bad and consistent, but overall I really enjoyed the singleplayer experience enough to play through the game 3 or 4 times.

Multiplayer on the other hand is broken beyond belief. If you intend to play BG2 with friends, my advice is to buy the original from somewhere else, because the Enhanced Edition's multiplayer is just straight up nonsense. Can't even get out of the tutorial area without some encountering at least 4 or 5 major bugs, including quests just straight up not working, or scripted events not occuring.

My personal favourite game of all time. Love all the choices you can make in the game and all the diversity in the world. As well as the epic boss battles and legendary items you can smith.

This is still the greatest rpg I have ever played. I played this game when it first came out in its four disc glory and jumped on it when I saw it on sale. The story is compelling and engrossing and the sidequests are entertaining as well. The graphics hold up well and the style is still enjoyable to play through. The "enhanced" part is negligable, if you played an earlier version you are not missing much. This is a must play for any rpg fan.

This is potentially the best RPG ever made, it has an amazing, in-depth story, with alot of character interaction.

Combat difficulty ranges from very easy, to frustratingly difficult, depending on factors such as game difficulty setting, party composition, and order of quests completed. The depth level of combat is also extremely impressive given the release date of the original Balduer's Gate series, we're talking Hundreds of spells to choose from.

There is also alot of replay value, as altering your party composition completely changes the game, from how you deal with encounters, to a few class specific quests. Each npc character which you're able to get in your party, has their own quest to complete.

Well, the game was already a masterpiece when it was out, only to be seconded by Planespace: Torment for some (not me). Therefore, the base quality is still there. The original game had beautiful 2d artwork used as locations and they held their eye candy to this day.

What needed work was the paper dolls, spell effects, the UI, screen resolution (original one only supported 800 x 600 and 640 x 480) and one of the nightmares: 64 bit compatibility.

The initial release had bugs but at the moment, this game is quite solid. The story itself is probably one of the best modules ever written for Forgotten Realms. The characters (original ones) are all quite fun in their way and the newly added ones somewhat blend in. Although, they are neither as interesting as the original cast (like Minsc, Edwin or Jensen) nor their voice acting matches the quality of the original NPCs. Still, they don't disturb you much.

I have probably played and completed Baldur's Gate 1, Tales from the Sword Coast, Baldur's Gate 2 and Throne of Bhaal over 20 times, modding them to the bone. Nowadays, I am replaying the EE and I am quite happy that it helped me return to an already favorite, not causing issues with my high end rig. I am already halfway through the game, saving Imoen, and wife laughs at me whenever she sees me mimic the NPCs and their war cries.

Now that Pillars of Eternity and Torment: Tides of Numenera are coming, it would be nice to re-visit this masterpiece.

In addition to only working with PC's, I found that [they] also lacked a USB 2.0 port, installation software, and were extremely susceptible to spyware. These pens are not y2k compatible and contain no slot for extra memory. All in all I was not impressed with this product.

The game would be 10/10 IF they would fix the multiplayer, and they propably never will update it.

This purchase was a disappointment. There are FAR too many bugs in this release, and in fact, the original release of Baldur's Gate II had far fewer bugs (BGII veteran here; I've been playing this game since 2001 and have never taken a year off). I was very pleased with all the enhancements which make this game look so much nicer on newer systems, but between the sheer number of bugs and the weak voice-acting of the new NPCs (Hexxat's voice was PITIFUL to the point where I couldn't keep her in my party) I just can't say this release is worth spending money on, period. Download the latest patch, get a widescreen mod and the Baldur's Gate II Fixpack from Giberlings 3 and just play the original release. Don't waste your time with this version.

11 months and no patches to address a lot of the serious issues that it introduced (especially in the case of the games multiplayer). For the time being I would recommend you buy BG2 from elsewhere (gog perhaps) and just mod it (search for the bg2 fixpack on G3). It is cheaper and less buggy.

The godfather of Western RPGs. Before loot games ruined them forever.

Buy it now. Play it over and over.

I love Baldur's Gate, but the Enhanced Edition is ridden with bugs and that had me reloading the game way too many times. Bugs that were not in the original game.

The extra content is not worth it.
