The Drag Pack

The stifling heat, the shuddering vibrations, the smell of burnt rubber, the deafening roar of the engines; and of course, the earth-shattering acceleration.

At the pinnacle of GRID Autosport’s drag racing are the mighty “Funny Cars”, so-called because there is nothing normal about them. The experience of driving one is like an all-out assault on the senses, as drivers try to wrestle eight thousand horsepower into submission as they are propelled at speeds in excess of three hundred miles per hour. That’s fast enough to cover a quarter-mile in less than 4 seconds.

The Drag pack will become available in a few hours time and for all the info, head on over to the blog

Dear fellow players. I have just bought this game recently and in my opinion it is amazing. The best thing to mention is that the game focuses on the player only, you do not have to go through a boring career method, you can freely do the events as you would like to.

The game has really wide range of motorsport genres, you can find almost everything what you like, including drift, formula car series etc.

The gameplay, with the RPG elements also fantastic. In online games, you will start the game with a loan vehicle, which are the slowest one. As you progress and earn money for racing, you can finally buy your first car and upgrade them through your online career. As soon as your car is leveled to the highest level, you will experience some really difficult and enjoyable races online.

The online community is also good, the game has an “impact rating system”, which means if you make an impact with other players, your rating will be lowered and you will be temporarily banned from some of the events which has impact rating enabled. If you would like to improve your impact rating, you need to drive safe and look out for the other racers and stay away from impacts at all costs.

The mixture of arcade and simulation style is also a good idea, it is not easy as an arcade game for example Need for speed series and it is not that difficult either. You need to have some skills, if you would like to finish in the top places, so the challenges will last long enough to play lot of hours.

Only two negative thing to mention. The first is the blurry HUD, which is painfully awful. I do not even know, why codemasters did not do it perfectly (they do it right in the first GRID). Secondly, the silly AI is can be really annoying. The system did not even notice whether I am on the track or not.

Altogether, a game which is really fun to play in my opinion and I will play many more hours in the future. Hopefully, the negative problems will be solved in the future through a patch or something. I am really recommend this game, if you are looking for good competition, it is an 8 out of 10 for me.

I am really looking forward to see you soon in my rearview-mirror! :)

I'm a big fan of Codemasters since Toca Touring Car and have really enjoyed playing GRID and GRID 2.
For me GRID Autosport takes this to another level. Great car handling and tracks and the best thing about this game is the different racetypes like Touring Car, Open Wheel, Street and Tuner. Every race brings something new.
If you like racing games this is one you've got to own.

This game actually kinda sucked compared to Grid 2, but that's just my opinion, if you think you'll like it it than you should buy it, but as a racing game not comparing, I say it's pretty good. 7.0/10 Dash Apporved

+ Dazzling array of cars
+ Great-sounding engine noises

- Cockpit view is low-res, blurry, and the needles don't even move
- Cars seem to handle like a barge. With wheels. That is aquaplaning. On the Moon.
- AI seem to have two modes: religiously follow driving line; or swipe me off the track.
- Damage modelling is rough. I only seem to pick up minor scratches, and then lose parts of my car. Damage model doesn't seem very realistic. In fact, it doesn't even seem to be satisfyingly unrealistic. Just bits falling off.
- Game seems horribly unoptimised for my set-up. Alas.

All in all, I would say that this game is a waste of £29.99. I'm glad I got it for free when I bought this PC, because there was no way I would buy this on sale.

Nice cars, tracks and game modes. However, the engine noises sound repetitive in many of the cars, as if they recycled the sound files of many cars. The textures of cars could be better. Driving dynamics are solid, very responsive :)

a good game indeed. The only problem this game lacks are cockpit view not very good for a 2014 car game. If there is a patch to solve this and other problems then i would like to install it

Good and addictive fun with your mates ! Alone it might be boring , but the good thing is that the game can be played in splitscreen, localy on one computer, this way invite few friends and have a blast with this arcade racer. It has some nice details in graphics (effects) and with the High Res mod (free) it looks good (not awesome but still great).Runs smooth , and fairly easy to play even without sssists. Some cars are interestng.Would be nice if you could mix up classes based on same performance (you can only play one class at a time) . Or even better put up a series of events with different classes like the old toca games. Anyway the wheel support is there but dont expect pCars or Assetto Corsa like FFB and generally the game lacks feedback on the wheel. With gamepad its fine, it seems the game is optimised more towards the gamepads anyway. But that is okay since you jump in have some fun and jump out. Do a long endurance race or do few laps but you will have fun time within the game ,regardless. I also suggest to get the season pass since it includes some more variety and brings back the old Touring cars !The multiplayer seems pretty dead by now which is quite a surprise since it came out not so long ago.But if bunch of friends get the game its fine to put in some AI drivers (on hard and very hard they are agressive but still playable) to complete the racing grid. This also gives the game some bit of challange since the AI on very hard drives very quick and it is challenging to overtake them. If you like arcade racers with bits of realism go grab it you wont regret it!

Utter Rubish, I have played i would say most of the codemaster racing games from the first TOCA thru to now and many others starting as far back as Geoff Crammonds formula one grand prix in 1992, and by far this is the worst one, the so called AI is a joke the laws of physics only seem to apply to your car, a waste of money.

I would definitely recommend this game!! The game looks and runs like a dream. The only con is that the AI is extremely aggresive and looks to overtake you by any means. On the otherhand this is also a pro because who really wants to race and have no competition? The AI will certainly make you adjust your racing style while preparing you for multiplayer

The PC auto career sim you've been waiting for. Everything that your Gran Turismo/Forza junkie could want from a career auto sim is here. Only drawback: The game doesn't let you choose your specialty in career mode and forces you to do lots of race types and modes that you may not be interested in.

As in with GRID 2 the SP experience in this game is lacking, its even more lacking then in GRID 2, but MP with your mates as in GRID 2 can be fun, its a question of what you´re expecting from a game really, same as with GRID 2 its not s SIM but not an arcade neither, although they have gone closer to SIM with this one.

So my rating.... well SP gets a low score of 3 out of 10 tops, but MP gets a 8 out of 10, but im guessing that has alot to do with who you are racing against. Find equal minded players and game with them and you wont be dissapointed.

Great game overall, except for that in singleplayer, you already have everything unlocked (excluding dlcs) for free play. Though the overall game is amazing. Multiplayer is glitchy, as I have encountered glitches like me going from last to first than first to last while I am actually in last (I have a good internet connection) and then when it looks like I am in first and I finish, it says I got last. Also, the insides of the cars are terribly textured and modeled. They are hardly detailed. No speedo, and squarish modeling inside. Also they are blurred out if you turn shaders on. Also, GRID needs rain. I'm tired of there being just sun and clouds. I want rain! Just model the rain like the rain from the F1 games, and make the windshield wipers work!

Very precise racer, a joy to play with multiple race types. Has that tight race feel, where every turn means something and you need to make sure you are on the ideal path.

Pure racer, none of that cop vs fellon crap.

The benchmark option is also very usefull as it can be run in a loop to test overall system stability.

Bought this game at pre-purchase stage, thinking it looks like a good game to fill in my thirst for some F1 gameplay action, possibly with a bit of Gran Turismo clone feel. Unfortunately I played it once after release and uninstalled it. I can't quite put my finger on it except that maybe it looked a lot better in the pre-release videos I saw.

I wouldn't say "don't buy it" - just be sure you watch a good variety of gameplay videos before you do.

Grid Autosport showed a lot of promise.

The driving mechanics are good for thise category of SimCade racers, and the car choices are varied, but the game suffers from a bug that still to this day haven't been fixed.

If you, like me, have a Laptop that uses an Inted HD Graphics 4000 for "low-stress" economical useage, and a nVidea GTX 880m for gaming, then the game will not launch in, and can't even run in, Full-screen.

This is a basic mechanic of the game that should work, and in a world where even low-budget indies can make games accomodating these kinds of setups, a AAA racer that can't doesn't get my recommendation.

Codemasters. Do it properly, I know you can make some good games.
