Rocket League Steps into the Ring with WWE

As you may have already seen in recent episodes of WWE SmackDown Live, we have already begun and are proud to officially announce that Rocket League is partnering with WWE!

This upcoming weekend's NXT Takeover Chicago event (airing live this Saturday, May 20 on WWE Network) is where our promotional partnership kicks off, as Rocket League's presence will truly be felt during the broadcast and after, as we debut the first of our brand new television commercials. Expect to see it again on that Sunday's following pay-per-view (PPV) event, WWE Backlash this Sunday, May 21. It's the first main televised roster debut of WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura -- how could we NOT be involved?

Our promotional partnership will continue to grow after Backlash, as Rocket League will be a WWE partner at Great Balls of Fire on Sunday, July 9, and SummerSlam on Sunday, August 20. We will also be a regular presence on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live, as well as the official presenter for the recently-announced WWE Women’s Tournament!

And for the UpUpDownDown fans among our ranks? WWE Superstar Xavier Woods and crew will Keep it Tight with Rocket League over the course of six episodes coming later this year! Stay tuned for more details regarding our WWE sponsorship later this year.

Community Spotlight: Mastering Mechanics

Just over a month ago, we introduced the 'Featured' tab in our latest Rocket League Community Spotlight, and since then, the community has been asking us for even more 'Custom Training' codes. Here's what we have in store for you!

CUSTOM TRAINING
Since we introduced 'Custom Training' earlier this year, players have shown us that there's a ton of interest in aerial-focused challenges. In order to help teach players of all levels, we’re adding 'Custom Training' sequences with multiple levels of difficulty that may help all players on their quest to become Rocketeers.

If you find that the 'Featured' tab leaves you hungry for more, the community still has your back! Community-forged hubs like the RLCustomTraining subreddit, RLG’s Training browser, or WayProtein’s Training Sequences Sheet offer an exceptional array of satisfying codes.

Below are the nine new ‘Custom Training’ codes that are now listed in the ‘Featured’ tab in-game, descending from easiest to most difficult:

STEAM WORKSHOP UPDATE
In previous Community Spotlights, the Steam Workshop maps we selected were more obstacle-focused that tested your speed, and how quickly you could maneuver your car through restricting gaps and clearances. What these courses didn't introduce, however, was how to add a ball into the equation.

French Fries’ creation, the multi-staged Dribbling Challenge 1.1.1, does just that -- which is found sitting proudly at #3 on the Most Subscribed list. In it, players experience a multi-stage challenge that begins with basic things like ball control and pathway navigation and ends with how to master flight across longer distances and around obstacles. Once you've mastered it and think you're pretty good, you could also take it a step further and try to beat the world record! Spend enough time with the Dribbling Challenge and you may feel right at home every time the ball is perched on top of your car.

SteamOS and Mac Beta Versions
As of September 8, 2016, the SteamOS and Mac versions of Rocket League® were released to "Beta." SteamOS is the only "officially" supported Linux client, though other Linux platforms may be compatible. Likewise, the Mac version may or may not work on older systems with an integrated video solution and a dedicated GPU is highly recommended (Macs from 2013 or after should be okay). Mac system requirements are as follows:

  • OS: MacOS X 10.8.5
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 2.4 GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: OpenGL 4.1 - ATI Radeon HD 5670, NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M, Intel HD Graphics 4000 or Iris Pro Graphics

Be sure and check ongoing patch notes for SteamOS and Mac beta updates going forward. Listed below are all known issues for both versions of the game as of September 8, 2016:

  • The correct store page for DLC purchased through the Showroom doesn’t show up for Big Picture users. This is a Steam client-specific issue that Valve will be fixing in an upcoming patch
  • There are occasional crashes when exiting from a match to the main menu
  • The statues in Urban Central do not display correctly
  • You may experience intermittent blurring issues
  • (Mac Only) Xbox 360 controllers won’t work. You will need a third-party driver solution to use them
  • (Mac Only) Steam Controller is not natively supported
