There's nothing like a well oiled city to calm the nerves. At least, that's what others tell me. I've yet to experience that myself, since every city I build ends up being destroyed by aliens.

Do not complain that much and just add this launch option -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1366x768x32 (or whatever your resolution is so you can play it widescreen. It's the best city simulator for me for years and i played the new versions of these games.

This game was released in 2003. It is unstable in Windows 10. The settings menu do not include the option to set the resolution to 1080.

To get the resolution to 1080 you have to use this command in launch options (Thanks lesnoobz):
-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32 -f

The game itself is not so bad if you manage to make it playable, but it is likely you will still get bored after a few hours. It lacks something that made the previous versions fun.

Doesn't require a constant internet connection
Doesn't randomly wipe cities
Doesn't prevent you from using mods
Doesn't restrict control over regions
Doesn't confine you to a 10x10 city grid

It does however put a game that is 10 years newer to shame. If you want SimCity, look no further.

I played this game a lot when i was 12 or 13 or whatever which explains why i didn't have a girlfriend for a long time but I played it recently and it's still a hell of a lot of fun. I built a city with two motorways going out of the city but also a toll road and then a subway system and this gave me a hell of a lot of money and so i spent it on health and education and i felt really good about myself for 5 or 10 minutes. i still don't have a girlfriend though

If modded this game even though its ten years old, in my opinion its much better than the new version. I bought this one again after finding out how bad the new one was. You should mod this game for sure though, with larger regions, the NAM and CAM and whatever else you want on the great modding sites for this game.

Currently im playing on a very detailed sat. map of the US with over 500 of the largest city tiles in one single region. Just one of my city tiles from what i heard is four times bigger than a city tile on the new version and i have over 500 of them, all are connected to and interact with each other. Building the entire country with things so spread out leaves tons of open land adding to the realism that the region system in this game creates.

Here are some videos showing my current region :) Its much higher quality on youtube itself though

You can also check out my region journal here.

Better than expected. I wish co-op Multiplayer worked. I'd look toward Skylines nowadays

It's a classic. Although customizing the maps before founding a city is cumbersome. It would have been nice to have some sort of random generation templates to help me be creative.

There are some sites with custom map areas user created, which are very nice, including Busan, Korea.

I grew up with this game :) I read some of the negative reviews of this game to be objective.

Most of the not recommended recviews are about new hardware and Windows 10. I do not exactly know if the game works well with high end graphics and operating systems but i will assume it works after some work arounds.

Because if you can run this game and if you are a fan of city managing, this game is the most detailed game i know. Considering Cities XXL, Cities Skylines and City Worls. I am kind of a City building veteran :)

This game is pretty hard and complicated. You will most probably bankrupt you first 4-5 cities. you have to master the income and outcome balance and peoples happiness. Every desicion counts. Every single unit on the map is important. Reources management and city planing is crucial.

The game has advisors if there is something urgent to be adressed. And they might have good ideas too but do not go for all their ideas :) For example there are fires in the game and you have to dispatch units with your own hands. Sıo the advisor pops up and goes crazy in the middle of the screen. :)

The game has terraforming, water and air and noise pollution, land value and desirability to guide you. Neighbouring cities can exchange resources for income. Schools and hospitals are covering an area, so you have to adjust and optimize residential and commercial ares acoording to these two. Fire and police stations are also effective within their reach. But you can dispatch fire truck from a corner of the city to another.

Patient is the key to success in this game. Do not think you can just install the game and rise skylines. And i hope you can run the game on new operating systems and hardware.

♥♥♥♥ you, EA. You destroyed Westwood Studios, you destroyed Oirigin, and now you destroyed Maxis.

To begin with this includes ALL of the DLC packs for Simcity 4 - No need to spend much more!

Simcity is a city building game (Duh!) Made by EA and Maxis in 2003.
The Graphics are good for a game this old - In some places they look outdated (when you zoom in too far)
The resolution scale for this game is Amazing since it was made in 2003 (I can reach the native resolution of my Screen (1280 x 800))

Overall Get This Game!

Compared with the ones that came after, this one still has the charm the others lack. If you like city building, this is a must-buy.
