A "rare game of fine vintage", you say? One that most people would not have heard of at all. I think I know what you might want, but please, do you have any more information?

With a character who headbutts for 2000 pts?
And another very very large character most people don't see until they've been playing it for months, whose initials are B.B., and who shakes the ground when they land?

That's beginning to sound familiar...yes.

And it is known for having some incredibly difficult bits of single player, including one part most people just can't beat?

Very detailed animation for its time? Memorable music? A variety of crazy over-the-top attacks? A character that turns into a bell? The title is often wrongly written as two words when in fact it is only one word?

Something about "level 3", you mumbled there...yes, there are Level 3s...

Hmm...I wonder if they didn't mean Skullgirls...

Big Band is now in the Real Game along with tons of colors, his Story Mode, the Under the Bridge stage, his own art gallery page, and a tutorial!

And that voice...my, I think I need to go have a lie down.

"Buy" him for free, anytime in the next three months. If you don't, you'll have to buy him for real, and goodness knows nobody should have to do that.

Please be considerate of others, don't spoil his story. Especially that one joke I really like. You know, the one about that game the caller wanted.

You know how you felt when you completed it just now before reading this?

- Allow up to 2f of neutral (centered stick) between required directions on 360 motions, should drastically help keyboard and hitbox players execute them. Please tell me if you find any bugs with this.

Bug Fixes
- Assists snapped to offscreen (by themselves, when the point is not snapped) will be locked out for the snap-lock period instead of the regular 2sec. Was this way before, I broke it with the doublesnap fix.
- Fix big bug with pre-block: landing from an airblock or being in preblock when the enemy was outside preblock distance, would ignore the distance requirement for exiting preblock entirely until they were no longer considered "attacking". Super thanks to blandaid and worldjem for finding this! Tell me if this breaks some other stuff or something.
- Fix Art Gallery bug where the description would flash with the menus off.
- Big Band's death/timeout VOs are no longer cut off by his knee-fall sound effect. This was in the last build, I forget if I mentioned it. Thanks PyroWalrus for being that nitpicky. :^)

Conclusion: Don't get SFxT

Speaking more seriously, SG is a good game. If you like fighting games or are simply interested in them, consider SG.

Came for the art, stayed for the gameplay, as should you.

It's pleasing easthetically, smoothly animated and comes with very responsive characters to pick from. Each fighter(ess?) has a very unique and fun style of fighting, making sure everyone will fall in love with at least a few (hey, I'm talking gameplay-wise, focus here will ya).

Ideal game for both fighting game veterans and (thanks to the great tutorial) people who are just starting their adventure with the fighting game genre.

A very unique art style that animates beautifully is the first thing noticeable about Skullgirls. While I'm far from a 'hardcore' fighting game fan, I enjoy to play these types of games rather casually, and enjoy facing off against friends. The 8-girl cast is a bit small at the moment, but over the next couple month, another 5 will be added to the list, including, for some reason, two dudes. The netcode in Skullgirls uses GGPO, and has been lagless against everyone I've played, and, unlike the console version, the PC version has a lobby system for facing people. This is certainly one of my favorite fighting games recently.

Skullgirls is a fast-paced, drop dead gorgeous fighting game with an interesting and growing roster, one of the best tutorials for a fighting game and a helpful community. It's a must buy if you're interested in getting more serious about fighting games and a blast for playing casually with friends.

Despite never having played a 2d fighter beyond a really casual level, (although I do have a small competitive Smash Bros. background) it was very easy getting into the deeper parts of fighting games. The in-game tutorial gives a very good starting point. It explains basic and more advanced fighting game concepts and beyond that, there are brilliant guides and helpful individuals at skullheart.com, the dedicated forums.

The cast, albeit small, is intriguing and diverse, ranging from an amnesiac schoolgirl and her hairy parasite to a little girl-turned-cyborg wielding weaponry inspired by old cartoons. and soon, a saxophone man, dropping the beat on his opponents. The currently 9 characters have more than enough charm to make up for their lack in numbers, but there are 4 more characters (the sax-man Big Band, the egyptian songstress Eliza, the wrestler Beowulf and his trusty chair, and the enigmatic robotic version of Ms. Fortune) to be released over the following year that each have a free-to-download period thanks to the Indiegogo campain. And even after that, there is a sheer limitless character pool of astounding variety in the mind of the universe's creator.

The gameplay is fast and offers a vast amount of tools to be creative with your combos. No character plays like the other while the roster in it's entirety is incredibly well balanced. You can choose between fighting as one strong, two medium or three weak characters, allowing you to employ a variety of tactics and easing you into a team-based fighting style, should you be interested in such. The community and the developers have a great deal of interaction. This, along with the often updated beta version allow for fine-tuning and steady improvement of the already great underlying systems.

No matter how much you are interested in fighting game, Skullgirls is a great place to start, and a great place to stay!
