"A great game in the Source Engine which has a very interesting multiplayer mode with a pretty decent Singleplayer mode to match, worth to get in a sale."

Changes to The Ship packages

Hi everyone,

We've made a few changes to The Ship packages on the Steam store, which I've outlined below.

Single Player
The single player game was previously sold as a separate package, as well as being included in the Complete Package. However, a number of users reported problems with the single player as a standalone game and as we were unable to resolve these issues, we've remove the option to buy the single player by itself.

Anyone who purchased the single player game without the multiplayer game, now should be able to claim the Complete Package for free (which should resolve issues playing the single player).

If you have any problems with this, the please leave a comment here.

Free Copies
Previously, if you purchased the Complete Package, you received additional gift copies to send to friends. While we understand that some people made full use of these, our stats show that most people didn't.

For this reason, we've removed the free copy promotion from the package - when you buy The Ship now, you'll only get 1 copy of the game.

Price
To reflect these changes, we've permanently reduced the price of the Complete Package from $19.99 to $9.99.

UPDATED - 19/12/14

Hi everyone,

I've read through your comments and passed them onto the team. We appreciate your frustrations with this and will certainly try to give you more heads up if there are changes in the future.

Just to explain, our goal for 2015 is to do what we can to improve the experience players have with The Ship. There's a lot of things we can't do - see here for a background on our licencing constraints.

But one thing we can do is to try to increase the average number of people playing at any one time (and if you check Steam Charts, this has been improving lately). This improves the experience of the multiplayer game for everyone that's playing.

The main feedback we had from players was that the price was too high, so that's why we've dropped it by 50%. It wasn't an easy decision as this could siginificantly impact our revenue, but it was the right thing to do and we're confident that the price is a good one.

With regards the gift copies, our data shows that very few of them were redeemed. It wasn't having a significant impact on the number of people playing the game - in fact we believe that the higher priced "5 pack" was putting off more people playing than it was attracting new players.

We'll look at introducing an additional 3 or 5 pack for people who want that option. (Valve needs to set this up so it's unlikely to be before January).

Thanks,
- the Blazing Griffin team

“its gameplay and design draw on everything from Poirot to Quake, with even a slightly unhealthy dose of The Sims thrown into the mix - but the game is much more than the sum of its well worn parts”
8 – Videogamer

“Unlike a lot of its hybrid predecessors, this multigenre multiplayer game really is something completely different. While the game draws on identifiable sources such as Quake, The Sims, and Clue, it mashes these elements together with a few new ideas to create an innovative experience that doesn't play like any of its inspirations.”
8.3 – Gamespot

“the game twists around the Clue formula to make it a little more interesting. Instead of having to uncover a killer, The Ship makes you the killer. The main gameplay mechanic revolves around finding your target, called your quarry, and breaking their face as stealthily as possible. To do so there are plenty of lethal odds-and-ends to wield, and even some environmental traps. It's certainly a quirky take on first-person gaming, but it's an entertaining one once you get the hang of it.”
7.4 – IGN

About This Game

For PC gamers who enjoy multiplayer games with a bit of intelligence, intrigue and ingenuity, The Ship is a murder mystery alternative to traditional FPS multiplayer games. Each player is given a Quarry to kill - and must evade their own Hunter in the process, all set on board a series of 1920s art deco cruise ships.

The Ship is owned by the mysterious Mr X and as one of many 'lucky' recipients of a free ticket you arrive on board The Ship to find there's a catch to your luxury cruise. You are coerced into a brutal Hunt to indulge Mr. X's fantasies, under threat of death for not only yourself, but also your family. Your only chance to save yourself and your family is to play the Hunt and win.

Combining stealthy multiplayer action and a needs system, The Ship is a truly unique gaming experience.

This package includes a tutorial, The Ship Single Player, which introduces you to some gameplay mechanics and storyline, and The Ship Multiplayer where you can hunt and be hunted by other players.

I was in TeamSpeak with a couple of my friends and one of them was my quarry.

My quarry went and hid inside one of the toilets. After a while he wanted to leave, but there was a random guy blocking his exit.

So I looked over the shoulder of the random guy and shot my friend in the face with the Blunderbuss.

I shot him straight back onto the toilet, and the random guy walked in and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ on his corpse.

10/10.

The Ship is a very fun game, to an extent. The Single Player version of the game is okay but can get annoying at times. However, if you're playing with a friend, this game can almost never get boring, especially with the different game modes.

I literally stabbed George Bush in the face. Great game to play with friends, especially if they're playing as George Bush. Exceptional George Bush stabbing simulator. Would highly recommend to George Bush. I'm gonna say its a 9 out of 11. 9/11 George Bush.

George Bush.

Also shot Tony Blair with a tommy gun. Good times

Really fun at all. It is challenging when your rival is disguise himself so you can't find him easily and it is more difficult when you have to avoid witnesses or police officers.

Totally worth my money.

The ship. A quite unique kind of stealth elimination game, get close to your enemies and then backstab then with a frying pan or a manequin arm.....
It is hell of alot of fun, killin people here and there without getting cought by the Police, but if u do have money u can also add the strategy in this game , why?
Well bribe the cop and kill everything u see xD .
The game is kind of hard to master but after that it is a pleasure for both eyes and mind!
Only con is : A small number of servers with enough people to play with.
But i used game tracker and i found 2,3 servers which i had loads of fun on! xD

Like the time i was takeing a sh** and got killed by Bin Laden ..... Best part : I was Bush .

11/10 would get killed by Bin Laden again while takeing a sh**

No one plays this game and it gets lonely playing alone. It's a shame, it would be enjoyable if the multiplayer was maxed out. Abandon ship at full price, all aboard if it goes on sale.

Moje česká recenze: http://www.playhit.cz/2015/01/ship-opomijeny-deathmatch/

The ship is a great experience, especially with friends. It has some of the most hilarious ways how to kill a fellow passanger, like closing them into a freezer or throwing an umbrella at them. It's a better hunting simulator than other actual hunting simulators out there :D. In the beginning of the round, you get a name of your quarry and your future murdurer gets your name. It's only up to you to escape and still kill your victim. All that while managing your human needs. The insecurity and distrust is incredible, if you use teamspeak during the game and it reaches the fun level of Trouble in Terrorist town mod. The ship is great fun but doesn't offer much replayability, only if you really fancy it I guess or have 20 friends who do, because the servers are sadly very empty these days, playing with the AI is decent though 8/10

This game, is what a game should really be: simple, effective and fun, now this game is not for everyone, especially for those who do not know what patience is. This game requires not a beefy computer, but a brain....

The Ship is a hunt and be hunted game, that means you will have a quarry to kill with other passengers in one of the many beautiful cruise ships that you can choose pre-game. You can choose a variety of weapons and come up with very creative ways to take out your prey. You can place a wallet bomb outside the room of your quarry and then BAM! there she goes. However you have keep a low profile and always watch your back, the map size depends on the cruise ship you chose, some are big maps with lots of doors and hallways while some are smaller.

You also need to rest, eat, go to the toilet and all those boring things, but dont get me wrong! Not only is this adding in a bit of realism, it also varies the game a bit my forcing you to find a toilet, have a snack or even read a book instead of going on a killing spree. You can also deposit all the money earned from killing into the bank to make sure your hard-earned cash stays safe after you die. Use this money to buy food or even clothes to look sexy and proffesional as possible when dealing out some hits!

For the maximum fun possible I recommend playing with friends you know (as in the case of most multiplayer games), but either way it can be fun if you want it to. There are alot of points I missed but those are for you to find out, go buy and play for yourself! But remember always watch your back, unless you want to feel helpless, hopeless and most of all...Dead!

I hope the developers keep this game growing! real potential!

The Ship

The Ship is a fun semi-realistic multi-player game that takes place is a semi-modern early 1910's. The game modes consist of Hunt(You have a name of another player/CPU and you must find him/her and kill them without getting arrested or killed yourself), Team Elimination(Simple; Two teams find and kill each member of the opposing team), Death-match(Kill everyone), Duel(One-on-one battle), and Team VIP(Kill the enemies teams, VIP whilst keeping yours safe). I gotta' admit it, It's a very fun multi-player game. I especially like the realism aspects such as, Thirst, blatter, colon, hunger, sleep, entertainment, loneliness, and some more(If I remember correctly). If you fail to attend to those needs, Your player will die in a unique way according to which thing you forgot to attend to. Anyway, In conclusion; The Ship is an awesome multi-player game and I for sure, suggest that you guys should try it out.

The Ship is a game which takes the general idea of FPS Multiplayer games and puts a great twist to it, at only $10 the ship is one of the best and most fun games I have ever played. I would highly reccommend this to anyone.

1. Played the tutorial and though "Meh, I should be good"

2. I play the Singleplayer Campaign

3. I find a Tommy Gun in the first cupboard I look in

4. I think "Sweet, a Tommy Gun >:D"

5. I find my Quarry sitting in a chair, sleeping

6. I decide to shoot the Quarry with the Tommy Gun I found

7. I wanted the best accuracy so I right click to attempt to aim down the sights of my Tommy Gun

8. I realise that you cannot aim down your sights

9. The gun flies out of my character's hands faster than the bullet would've travelled

10. My gun collides with my Quarry and somehow kills my Quarry

10/10 Would use unrealistic throwing abilities and physics to kill my Quarry again.

Installed cause of that card farming, stayed for the fancy killing. I killed a woman in the bathroom, then went to the pool and started chilling while drinking a martini. 10/10.

I was gifted this game a wee while ago by a friend. I didnt expect much as I'd never heard anyone talking about it. To be perfectly honest, I never even installed it for months. When I finally did, I never thought within 1 hour of gameplay I'd have urinated, eaten, casually murdered a few friends and butt-rushed 3 guys in a closet armed with a hoover and a shotgun. Casual!

It's a very fun game, lose your friendships and get angry at your S.O. for being your prey or hunter!!!

Very sim-like, with needs like hunger, sleep, etc. Nobody suspects of the old lady with the cooking pot :3

I'll start with the Con's. Graphics not very good anymore. Annoying music keeps looping in levels. Built-in server browser is not working so you need to manually add servers for multiplayers.

And then the good.... Well good sides goes something like this: I lurk around the ship corridors nervously looking for my target while avoiding exposing my back to others too much. One can never know when YOUR killer strikes. We all hunt each other - problem is you can never know who it is until the weapons are brandished. Assuming you see them do it.

Bam! i found my pray and in a busy intersection i find a quiet little spot where nobody is looking. I whip out the ice pick and stab the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to death from behind. Yes! price money is mine.

Later i get hungry so i head for the bank automat and pick up some cash. Life is good. i head for the nearby snack machine. There is a bit of a crowd here so surely nobody would try anything?

Like a poker player i place my back against the corner and take some potato chips to sate that hunger. As i take my first bite the man standing next to me in the crowd puts away the book he was reading and whips out a shank and stabs me in the ♥♥♥♥ing face while i am enjoying my potato chips. It just happened to be so that i placed myself into a defilade and the crowd was not looking at me at the right moment.

I fall down into a pool of blood and my killer scurries behind the corner and starts to walk casually away. I can almost hear him whistle as he does his casual trot on the corridor. A crowd gathers. 'Oh, yet another one bites the dust'. and then they carry on with their own game of cat and mouse. Many more will die tonight.

This dear reader is what 10/10 moments are in a game that is revolutionary in idea but unfortunately very much ignored when it was released and thus it is almost abandoned except for the player base.

Did i mention even newbies can be good at this game? Practice a bit with bots and then hit for the MP servers.
