About the Game

Quico’s best friend, Monster, is a huge beast with razor-sharp teeth, but that doesn’t scare Quico away from playing with him. That said, Monster does have a very dangerous problem: an addiction to poisonous frogs. The minute he sees one hop by, he’ll scarf it down and fly into a violent, frog-induced rage where no one, including Quico, is safe. And yet, Quico loves his Monster and wants to save him. As Quico, players will build their friendship with Monster by solving puzzles together and adventuring through a magical, surrealist world. Players will need to learn to use Monster’s emotions, both good and bad, to their advantage if they want to complete their search for a cure and save their pal.

I don't think a game has ever made me cry so much. Coming from a family with substance abuse, this game hit down to the core. It isn't a difficult game, but it has a beautiful and powerful story to tell.

A beautiful world and a cute kid, in a game full of spirits and energy.
This is a game that will make you feel alive, relax. and have peace with yourself.

Overall: a must have for those who are looking for a good time and peace, plus a cute boy and a girl and a little sweet robot named Lula who will help you finding your path.

Initially I thought Papo & Yo was a platformer with simple puzzle elements intended for children, but I was greatly mistaken. The game appears to be very happy-go-lucky and easy on the eyes, but when you dive deeper into the game, you realise that every object and character around you are tiny pieces of a massive allegory, revealing a much darker tale. Hidden behind the pretense of a child's daydream, this game beautifully tells a tale of a child's fears, making use of brilliant composition and an amazing soundtrack. The fascinating level design displays a completely new take on the world. After playing through this masterpiece, I was incapable of finding a reason not to recommend this game!

What is a monster? What is a frog? What if your best friend was a monster? Papo & Yo is truly a remarkable adventure, puzzle platformer which may make you rethink these questions. Truth be told, Papo & Yo only caught my eye after a good friend of mine added it to his Steam Wishlist. As many of you may have done, I waited for this game to go on a 75%+ sale when it was released as Humble Indie Bundle X's beat-the-average tier. Luckily for me, rather than leaving this game to sit in my Steam Library to collect dust, I downloaded and decided to try it out.

What I discovered was one of the most captivating games I have ever played or watched. From the first scene, a black screen with white text: "'To my mother, brothers and sisters with whom I survived the monster in my father.' Vander Caballero," to the ending of the credits, this game does not disappoint - it simply gets better.

Verdict: Papo & Yo is simply an absolutely stunning game. It is symbolism at its finest and storytelling at its greatest. It is a visually gorgeous game loaded with an immense amount of creative ingenuity. In order to not reveal any spoilers, all I can say is "this game is a must-play." You know a game is good when all you can do is sit in awe, thought, and understanding through the entirety of the credits after you complete it.

I love this game! Pure poetry in a childish dream! It's a metaphorical game about a child and his deep fears. The more you play the more you want to know the truth about his father. It's really interesting because there's a real drama behind this poetic and sweet appearances. Plus puzzles are amazing ^^ Very good game, both fascinating and relaxing!
