Four Benchmark Tests

Fire Strike - For high performance gaming PCs
Fire Strike is a showcase DirectX 11 benchmark designed for today's high-performance gaming PCs. Use Fire Strike to test dedicated gaming PCs and Fire Strike Extreme for high-end systems with multiple GPUs (Crossfire/SLI).

Sky Diver - For gaming laptops and mid-range PCs
Sky Diver is a DirectX 11 benchmark that is ideal for testing mainstream graphics cards, mobile GPUs, integrated graphics and other systems that cannot achieve double-digit frame rates in the more demanding Fire Strike test.

Cloud Gate - For notebooks and home PCs
Use Cloud Gate to test the performance of notebooks and typical home PCs. Cloud Gate uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 10, making it suitable for testing DirectX 10 compatible hardware.

Ice Storm - For tablets and entry-level PCs
Use Ice Storm to test the performance of your Windows tablet, ultra-portable notebook or entry-level PC. Ice Storm uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 9, making it the ideal benchmark for modern portable devices. You can compare Ice Storm scores from Windows, Windows RT, Android and iOS devices at futuremark.com.

this is great to compare your system to others and really push it to its limits. Especially now that you can test your system at 4K without having a 4K monitor to see if you even have a chance of playing games at 4K is a cool feature. This is also great to test how much of a performance increase your overclocking will get you.

It's a good tool to estimate the performance of your PC. It's way more demanding than the AAA games I own, so if my PC does well on the benchamarks, then my games will run great. Good tool if you overclock and want to see if you messed it up.

You press a button, some purty pictures appear, after some time it displays some cryptic numbers, and then, for whatever reason, you've got a warm fuzzy feeling inside :p 10/10

This really showed me where my PC was at and let me fine tune some things in order to make it run better and seeing how really expensive PCs run with their equipment allows me to decide on what next to buy in order to upgrade my PC without costing me an arm and a leg

Steam version uses slightly more memory since it runs above Steam, but that didn't matter.

Recommended ONLY for PC savies or top notch benchmarkers to see how far their overclocking ability goes up to.
also recommended for high textures games (mobile too) developers.

If you do not understand about clocking, don't buy this software.
if you are new to benchmarking, don't buy, just use the free version.

A serious Game of the Year candidate in this Gamer's opinion.

This is a great tool to test the performance of your PC. The benchmarking tools in this software really push your computer to its limits. The software is easy to use and doesn't take a brain surgeon to understand. Just pick what level of computer you think you have and the software will tell you if you have a decent rig. You can check your scores against other people from around Steam which is fun. I like it that you can compare your system overtime to see where it is lacking or what needs to be improved. This software has helped me to understand my system more each time I use it. This has helped me to understand my RAM frequencies and see that they were not running at the same frequency which helped me save alot of money. I really recommend this software to any PC guru that wants to get the most out of their system. I would first try the DEMO first since you can get a basic idea of what your computer can do from that but if you want to mess with settings then get the full version of this software. I wouldn't recommend this at full price, make sure to wait till this one goes on sale.

This is a must have, the only gaming banchmark you need. If you think your gaming rig can handle anything, try running Firestrike on Extreme mode.

Personal Rating: "Worth Getting"
Platform: PC
Genre: Benchmarking Tool

3DMark is a bench-marking tool created by Futuremark Corporation and its sole purpose is to determine your computers performance in relation to your GPU (Graphical Processing Unit) and CPU (Central Processing Unit). The system runs three seemingly simple tests to the naked eye (although as far as I understand the last test "Fire Strike" manages to even bring the beastliest of computers to their knees causing them to weep profusely because they are not first-in-class). In fact first-in-class probably isn't even available on the consumer market as of yet nor will it be for a few years to come. With three variations on each test determining everything from DirectX (9, 10 and 11 are all taken care of here) and PhysX, every setting is given the full run around in this virtual Olympic stadium to see whether it compares favorably or whether you have components in your system that could eventually land up crippling it. At the end of each test the software compiles a useful report and even goes as far to compare your report to other users reports who have run the tests themselves as well as other high, medium and low speced computers currently out there on the market. 3DMark eventually grades your computer with a useful overall score.

Other useful information like how hot your clocks get for either GPU and CPU are also monitored and produced in the report at the end. This is especially useful for overclockers that are looking for that sweet spot with their hardware where they can safely push it to the limits without doing irreparable damage. All the options like v-sync, triple buffering, SSAO, filtering and texture quality are here for you to tinker with, with the actual report giving you a break down of your fps (frames per second) at the end of it.

This is a wonderful piece of software to own if and when you want to see how your current PC holds up or whether there is something holding it back, preventing it from reaching for the stars. At its current sale price of $2.49 any self-serving PC enthusiast should consider this essential software and head on over to the store front this very instant and pick it up immediately.
