Reviews

"This is a quality piece of software. Even without the extra modules, this is simply amazing. The SU-25T is one of my favourite jets of all time, and it is brilliantly realised here, with so much content you feel guilty for getting it for free.

This only goes to show the confidence that DCS have in there Digital Combat Simulator, that they would give you so much for free. Stop reading this and go and download it now!." – Hubpages

"DCS World is a must-have for simulation enthusiasts who want as real as you can get in their home PC." – SimHQ

My Steam game time does not accuratly reperesent my actual time in game as most of it has been on the non Steam version of the game...

This game is amazing. The attention to detail is incredible. The ir missiles even lock on to the sun. If you want a game that gives you the feeling of really flying a millitary aircraft look no further. This game has it all... I can't even imagine playing this in VR.

This game is Very well optimized and can (in theory) be played with just a keyboard. I would highly recomend getting a joystick. It will greatly enhance your experience. You don't even need something exspensive either. I started with a Logiteck Attack 2. Then a friend swapped me for an Extreme 3D pro. Both are very cheep joysticks. The 3D pro is really all you need and it's like $30 on amazon. A true HOTAS is definatly the way to go though and after a lot of reaserch I will be getting a CH fighterstick, pedals and pro throttle. Hopefully I will have my DIY trackir hat built here soon and will no longer have to use a mouse to look around. The thing is though, even with the cheap control setup, the game is tons of fun. I would try the free Su25T first. Give the game a fair shot. I actually thought it was stupid at first and quit playing after like an hour. I came back a year later and started learning off youtube. It hit me. The game was incredible. From there on out I put in hundreds of hours. I got FC3 and had fun with the jets. Then I stepped up and got the Ka-50 and A-10C on sale. Very good purchases. Yes they take some time and willingness to learn but they really aren't that hard. The aircraft are setup logically. Once you learn the basics all the advanced stuff will click into place. Multiplayer is great and lots of fun. Finnaly... GIVE THE GAME AN HONIST TRY. ACTUALLY ATTEMPT TO LEARN THE SYSTEMS AND IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE TECHNICALITY OF IT ALL. YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE AND A NEW TYPE OF GENRE WILL OPEN TO YOU!!!

ps. Set curves of like 20-30 on your axises. It will make flying a ton easier. also... Slow smooth motions. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. :)

Playing DCS World in VR: (Occulas Rift)

Starting this game up was very confusing for a new user, it asked me to log-in, but had no create new account button....

then i got out of that and tryed to go into instant action. Found the cockpit very nice in VR, but was unable to figure out how to start the plane or take off, looked though options and found that everything is mapped yo keyboard...... no good if your in VR!!!

i see the option to map to an Xbox controler, but it is very complicated, you have to map each key yourself, there is no standed "use controller option"

ended up just leaving the game for that reason. game looks like it could be amazing in VR in the devlopers can make it easy to fly with a VR headset on your face and an easy button mapping for controlers.

This review is for using this game in VR only, and should not impact any users playing it useing a screen.

Alright, so ehh... This review won't be something special, but I'll try to do my best.

I love simulators, military based ones tho. Most of everything, I love planes.

I started loving planes when I started playing Ace Combat Zero / Ace combat games.

All types, cargo planes, fighter jets or bombers. I love 'em all.

This game gives you 2 free planes. SU-25T [Frogfoot] and P-51D. Both special in their ways, depends on what military situations or time periods you like.

With both of those planes, you can have some pretty good experience and fun, with or without friends.

The problem is having only 2 planes availible. The rest of them are just accessable by purchasing DLCs.

I do wanted to cry about it, but when you think about it... The game is free. It gives you much more than just fun or experience.

Details, information, different editors, models, realistic sounds, manuals, HUGE map aswell.

It all takes a lot of time to create, people to find who are willing to work on the game, and last, funding.

This is an excellent simulator and I do hope they'll add more different planes you can fly, cargo ones aswell.

In 2 days, by just focusing on the SU-25T, I learned how to check everything before taking off, taking off, flying and doing some cool maneuvers, using the thermal screen and guiding rockets to the designated target... and landing it as well. Once you know the basics, the rest will be easy. Using dragging chutes when landing is pretty hardcore and awesome. :)

It would be nice if they could add a free helicopter and a fighter jet, giving us more roles that you can work on and improve your skills.

SU-25 is not a fighter jet. END. <-- (Just for people who wanted to argue that the plane is a fighter jet.)

Consider buying a DLC when on a discount. It will be worth it. You'll be happy aswell as a company that works on the game. :)

That's pretty much it.

Thanks for reading.

This is not a game, this is a simulator. If you are looking for a game go play HAWX or War Thunder.
Do not write a negative review only because it's too hard to play, it is intended to be this way.
If you like simulators then this is a must have guys.

Was going to play IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad, bought an X52 non pro to do so. Decided i'd try DCS WORLD and see if it really was that great.

Spent 27 hours this last week playing it as a SU 27 pilot. So what am i saying?

This is a great game, you need to give it a few hours to learn the aircraft and set the controls but when you know everything this is so much fun. I can't get enough of this game and i've only played the SU 27 so far.

Thank you DCS!

DCS World alone gets you realistic sim level aircrafts to fly such as the Su-25T and the TP-51 trainer as free . Although, its not to PFM model with clickable switches it still packs enough realism like the Il-2 sturmovik.

If you want to purchase DLC products which are often hardcore PFM models like A-10C and the Ka-50, please keep in mind you need a minimum of HOTAS joystick (not a simplistic level Joystick) and also take time to LEARN the manual and tutorial before going combat.

The A-10C module is VERY HARD ( highly detailed model) and its very time consuming, If you don't have a good HOTAS Joystick, don't consider buying it, its only for super pro simmers. The Mig 21 is OK module and not that complicated like A-10C.

Do a good research before buying the module coz most would be too hard to handle. Don't buy this if you dont have a solid pro joystick....especially the DLC like A-10C and the copters.

If you guys are looking for PRO sim game, I say this is the game for you.

The default DCS needs at least joystick like the Thrustmaster flightstick X or the Logitech 3d ...but HOTAS is very much recommended if you plan to purchase DLC.

DCS World is a "free to play" complex Flight Simulator. It worked on Win 10, looked great, sounded great, played ok. You can fly an SU-25 "Frogfoot" Russian Ground Attack jet for Free. It has a pretty detailed tutorial for that plane, broken up into sections and has an english voiceover. The Frogfoot has Russian text and voices in the cockpit, so not easy to figure out by looking. DCS also has a TF-51D Mustang Trainer plane for free but there is no tutorial for it, and it is a different flight model from the SU-25. This flight simulator is Detailed and has a steep learning curve. Has Instant Action, Create fast Missions, Missions, and Campaign. Has multiplayer action also. You can fly with the keyboard and mouse.
DCS World has Mission and Campaign editors so you could get missions from other players to play. It is also VR ready for Rift and Vive headsets. You can buy more planes, helicopters and campaigns for this game.

Try it, if you like complex Flight simulators.

WOW! This flight sim is over the top! I just can't get enough of it. The flight models are superior to every other flight sim I have tried. The details of the planes and cockpits are beautiful and having the freedom to click every button and switch, just adds to the experience. The cockpit layouts are spot on. Every item is where it should be as in real life. Flight mechanics are awesome as well. As real as it gets for a flight sim! Learning how to fly these aircraft can be a challenge, but most modules have "training exercises" to help you figure out what to do. Flight manuals can also be found online, on steam or at the DCS website. There are also traning videos on Youtube. I personally enjoy the A10-C Warthog. The experience in the A10-C is intense and it is such a spectacular flight model. The other aircraft are awesome as well. Flying the Russian birds and hearing the Russian radio chat is great! There are so many positive things to say about this title I would be here all day, but I would rather be gunning down soldiers or blowing stuff up on the awesome missions or campaign! See you in the skies, pilots!
