While the game is fun at first it quickly turns to tedium. Part of the enjoyment of roguelike's is that every playthrough is different, this novelty plays an essential role in mitigating the usually punishing rate of attrition. Don't Starve lacks this novelty, which makes dying an exercise in tedium. You will always gather the same things, look for the same area, start constructing your base in the same way, etc. The game has no variance, which means it very rapidly gets boring. Can't recommend it over other similar, but superior games. I will say that it looks lovely and the animation is nice.

I got this game at the steam sale and for 3 dollars man oh man it was a good game.
-Gameplay was fun and fast paced
-You could customize your game how you wanted it

Eventually it does get fairly boring but other than that :)

This game is ok for people with patience. The People that don't have patience don't buy it, this game will make you throw your computer out the window and throw it on the street so somebody will run over it. The game has a mechanic that every time you die you lose everything. EVERYTHING. You might have the best stuff in the game and then night hits and it can be all gone, if you don't have food and starve, or if you mess with the wildlife you can have your butt handed to you and all your stuff just fades away. Sure you can do things that bring you back to life when you die but when you have to run the whole map to find these things it's not worth it. If they did have the option to have your stuff back when you die it would not be a survival game. You can go back to your save file's but most people don't want to do that they just want their stuff back. They should have a option that you can save from a certain point at a time like every day. This may sound stupid but if the devs add this in more people will play this. For people who want the true survivor experience they should have an ultimate survivor mode that if you die you lose all your stuff. For people who just want to play normal they should have a recruit or easy survivor mode were you keep all your stuff but start all your days all over again when you die. Some people like me would like these options to be out in because it is very easy yo die on this game and people who like real survival they could play the ultimate survivor mode that way everyone is happy. If this was put in the game this would bring a lot of people back. Do i recommend this game no, if you like wasting your time go ahead but i want a game that i can keep my things for all the hours i put in. If they make this game somewhat like i said i will come back and hell I’ll even buy all the dlc's but over i don't like how you lose everything. Imagine if ARK Survival Evolved was like this where you lose all your dinos and everything. You lose what is in your inventory but everything that is in your vaults and dinos are still there. People still that is a survival game and it truly is and this game is a survival game but it takes survival to another level that i am not comfortable with. Maybe like Ark they could have vaults that you can keep your stuff in and when you respawn you could have the stuff in the vault back instead of picking grass, cutting wood and picking berries over and over again. Remember this is just my opinion and everyone's opinion should be respected.

This is probably one of the most replayable games I´ve seen in my life. Workshop made this game one of my favourite games ever. Developers made cheapers expansions what make this game even more replayable. Nothing about ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dlcs, or infinite alpha development, creators really did very well and people know that. Perphaps is one of the games with more positive/negative reviews contrast from steam. (can not understand how someone can not recommend this game).

While this game is very, very entertaining, I'd recomend not buying this one anymore, considering the Don't Starve Together game that stands alone from this is both single-player AND multiplayer, thus erasing the need for just the single-player game.

However, this game is a bit easier on your computer, so I'd suggest only buying it for that reason. Wait for the full Don't Starve Together to come out, and then you can play that instead.

This is a game that you NEED in your library. If you're like me and don't like the full price, buy it on sale, it is worth every dollar. Now I die alot in this game. If i'm not drowing in rain because I'm playing as the robot, i'm starving or just entirely making poor decisions, so poor infact I feel like an idiot. The graphics are beautiful, and the background noises are amazing, I love pulling out my umbrella and hearing the pitter patter of it in the rain. Don't Starve is frustrating at times, but it's also addicting, there's so much to do and I've not survived long enough to do it. I'll keep coming back to it though, I will survive longer, and I hope you do too!

It vaguely reminded me of the beginning stages of Minecraft, but the survival is, of course, a lot more difficult (for me, it was getting to the stage of having a reliable and relatively sustainable food source), especially sustainability by comparison (and as it should, considering the game's title).

"Oh, i just bought this gam-" -Killed by a Bee.
"Ok, one more try" - Killed by a Bee.
"100 days!, 2 giants, 4 seasons, I'm invincible!" - Killed by a Bee.

The Tim Burton style fits this game perfectly, with a bit of survival, and fighting.

>You will fight Giants, Spiders, Metal Chess Things

>You will find Berries, Carrots, Bunnies

>You will have to kill the Bunnies to get Morsel, Pigs/Beefalos/Tallbirds (yes, birds that are, guess what, TALL) to get Meat, Spiders/Merms/Werepigs to get Monster Meat

>You will have to cook all of them if you want to survive.

>You will have to build a shelter if you want to survive.

>You will be INSANE, totally INSANE.

>You will see things. A lot of things.

>You will starve.

>But most importantly... YOU WILL DIE. A LOT.

One of my absolute favorite games. It's quite a challenging game, especially until you get the hang of things. It's a dark, twisted survival game where pretty much everything is trying to kill you. You've got to scavenge, build things, and defend yourself, all while trying to pay attention to the environment (weather) and the fullness of your stomach. The developers also seem to be constantly updating the game and adding huge amounts of awesome content for free. It just keeps expanding and you just keep wanting to play again and again. Highly recommended!

October 2014 Edit: Multiplayer is coming to Don't Starve! It's currently in closed beta at the moment, but should be coming along eventually!

Don't Starve is one of the games I will never forget!I'm sure you ask yourself why? Let me explain:
When I saw the game I were like ,,Naahhhh I'm not going to buy this.'' but a few days later I looked a second time and tought ,,Why not?It looks funny. And it says you can celebrate with your piggy friends.'' that was when I bought it. I can tell you I got addicted to the game. The first day I played 12 h's. I told my brother and my friend they should buy it. They did it and got addicted, too. I think nearly every Computer can run the graphics and the the characters are funny, too. With every game I started a new story war born. For example I started my first game and forgot to make a fire when the night came up I died and I was like ,,Why?I should have know''. And I learned with every new day that the game hates me. The game likes to punch you in the face. And the community is amazing. In the forums you can see artist, storywriters, survivers and so on. Pretty fast updates with new content to explore and even merchandise. It's a tip for everyone who like survival games. You will love it.

Graphics: 10/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Sound: 10/10

I hope you enjoyed my review. If yes press the like button :§D

Do I recommend this game? Hell yes. Every single time you start a new game file, it's an entirely random generated world where nothing is the same as the last. You can play this game for weeks and still not discover all its secrets. It's a sandbox strategy game that keeps you on your toes for anything and everything that's trying to kill you. And believe me, there's a hundred and one monsters who all want your face on a platter.

1. Always have a means to make fire. Always.
2. Pigs are your friends. Build your base near them.
3. Spiders are not.
5. Beefalo herds are awesome. Fill your pockets with their endless poo. Great fire fuel.
6. Prepare for periodic hound attacks. Make spears and tooth traps.
7. Pick flowers.
8. Not starving is the LEAST of your worries.

You will die.

Spiders will murder you.
Hounds will murder you.
Bunnymen will murder you.
Trees will murder you.
Tentacles will murder you.
Shadows will murder you.
Giants will murder you.
Penguins will obliterate you.
Bees will f**king destroy you.

And that's only if you don't starve first.

A great, fun game to play in your free time.
Includes deaths features like:
Tree Giants of Meanie-ness
Going Insane
(The funny thing is, most of the time you don't die from starvation...)

No matter now much food you save up, no matter what clothing you create, and no matter how long your beard is, a frog is all it takes to destroy your life and make you rage harder than Leonardo DiCaprio at an Oscars event.
9.5/10 Love it.

This survival rougelike is excellent. You are trapped in a cruel, randomly-generated world where everything wants to kill you, and left to fend for yourself in the wilderness. You will start off with nothing, collecting supplies to make a fire and survive your first night. The goal is simple -- survive for as long as possible.

The randomness of the world generation keeps it fresh for every playthrough. There are countless ways to die, ranging from freezing to death to getting mauled by a tentacle. Once you die, you will be forced to start anew, which can be frustrating.

I seriously love this game, and it really is worth picking up. You should also pick up the DLC which adds a lot more challenge to the game. This game is EXTREMELY addicting.
