- Fun: check.
- Epic: check
- Nice Graphics: check
- Sexy music, audio effect: check

But sadly, can't recommend this game. Terrible design, especially the block system, make your fight ridiculously hard. Good luck getting S rank in this game, you gonna need a lot of time and luck.

So what do we have here? An action beat-em-up? About a disgraced warrior proficient in kung fu? From a royal family? Where at some point this warrior will be 'killed' and join a tournament for their replacement? Which they win? What? Have you seen this movie before, because I... actually don't watch those sorts of movies now that I think of it. I don't think I've ever really sat down and watched a kung fu movie outside of maybe Rush Hour. But even then, that's not really what I'd call a kung fu movie. So I don't really know where I got all of the tropes from. Probably anime. Anyway the game infuriated me so I think I'll just sum up the story in a poem to cool off.

You play as a dude named General Loh
Good friend to a monk named Master Mo
To his temple you must go
And a display of skill you must show

To display your skill you kick his ♥♥♥
Dude's all talk, got a jaw made of glass
After which he gives you some sass
Then he tells you to go to a tomb under grass

Far across the land you rode
To an underground tomb, with dudes that explode
With their fat little faces with which they goad
You into destroying their humble little abode

If you thought the tomb levels were ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Wait til you go back to the city
And I'm sure you'll think this next line is witty
You fight female assassins with nice paris of ... eyes

You get poisoned and run
And I'm sure it's fun
To fight with a health bar short a ton
Against several women with the era's gun

They think that you're dead but you survive
You go into training and come out alive
A tourney to replace you? They didn't wait five?
So you set off for a bit of a drive

In the tournament you fight
Every boss until then, this just ain't right
With only one health bar 9 foes you smite
In a fierce display of your terrifying might

You then storm the palace, where your brother await
He's the king (emperor?) and it's him you hate
Rebels join you, after you smash down the gate
Go tell him that there's a funeral to which he is late

IT'S HIS OWN DAMN FUNERAL, HE GONNA BE TOAST
He got several ♥♥♥♥♥es guarding him, they gonna be roast
After you finish kicking them coast to coast
Your brother sits down ready to talk the most

He blames his wife, typical man
But she takes the blame, says it was her own plan
To get revenge on your brother's clan
The embers of war she would then fan

You take her down but our story ends here
Sequel bait for another game, or so I fear
Ain't no way I'm playing it, let me be clear
That my hatred for this game is incredibly sincere

So when I started the game it seemed adorably bad. Sure, it seemed like Dynasty Warriors without the strategy. Sure it made my computer (my Pentium i7) chug every now and again. And sure, it seemed a little campy. The developers put a lot of effort into making it so bad that it was adorable. I kinda felt endeared to it. But as time went on, and the levels progressed, the game got harder. The game's way of scaling up difficulty is to throw more attacks at you that you can't block. And to throw more people at you to simultaneously do them. And I played the game on normal difficulty all the way through! The way you learn moves? You buy them. You get a bonus for completing a level for your first time but I wound up using that bonus gold to buy resurrection potions more often than not. Which are only good for one level. So while it'd be nice to use that move you just picked up, you're going to have to grind for it. And good luck finding good grinding levels early on.

I should also mention that you're being graded by your adherence to the martial arts or something.

And I wouldn't be so frustrated with the combat if I could use these new moves without having to buy them. I wouldn't be so frustrated with the game if it was consistent on what you can block and what you can't block! The game says you can't block enemies once they look red. Alright, but apparently you can block the monk with the staff's spinning attack despite him being red? The only thing I found really consistent about the combat is being unable to block low sweeps. These are terribly annoying, especially when they're the first part of a combo to take away a third of your health. Hit and run doesn't often work especially well either, because the game will decide which enemy you meant to hit and if the RNGods are not with you that day, perhaps you forgot to offer your weekly virgin Hearthstone player they will instead have you move towards the thing you were running from and begin an attack which cannot be interrupted by you which will in no way hit that target. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥t.

Every now and again you'll see prompts above the enemy's head, either X or A (well I did anyway. I use a Steam controller) and if you press these you can break a block. One small problem. A happens to be the jump button. If you are in the air, you cannot jump. So you wind up being forced to take a counter attack despite your efforts to press the damn button because of game mechanics.

You know, this game doesn't have to be that bad. The problem is that it's way of scaling enemies up is to throw more of them at you. And sure, it takes some skill to fight multiple enemies at once and there were several times where I had to fight multiple bosses at once and it's fine. What's not fine is the sheer number of unblockable attacks coming your way in such a way that if you take the first one, you take all of them. Also! If you happen to block the first attack in a combo, THE COMBO JUST KEEPS COMING. I'm not sure if you can block the other hits in the combo (not for lack of trying). If you block the first strike in a combo, you should end the combo! There's no point to blocking a combo of three hits if you can only block the first and be forced to eat the other two! When I figured that out, I started just dodging combos. Better to take no damage than some.

All in all, the game is terrible. It doesn't scale well. It frustrates me to no end. At some point through the game I remember telling myself that this game is no longer adorably bad. Now it's just terribly bad. But I was too invested, I had a page of notes for this review. So I stuck through to the end to finish it for myself (can't let a game beat me) and for this review but I did not have fun for the latter half of the game. This is a solid no from me.

If you love hardcore arcade style games you'll love this. It's polished, punishing, rage inducing but ultimately rewarding. It's also one of those games where the player base is tiny, so you'll automaticaslly be in a cool cult for even installing it,

As a longtime fan of brawlers such as Streets of Rage, I was looking forward to giving this game a try. It turns out; this is one of the few games I cannot recommend, even at a steep discount.
The idea behind the game is a good one. Kung Fu fighting, over the top combos and bad guys to use them on, and a solid artistic style should all combine into something great and fun to play. The reality is that the execution of the idea is horrible.

While there is some skill involved, the fighting unpolished. Against some foes, blocking and deflecting works just fine. Others, particularly some of the female fighters, any attempts at blocking, deflecting, or dodging are completely ignored or are too inconstant to work with. The bad guys can change direction mid attack, catching you from an odd angle, slam you around like you are a doll, and then deftly block whatever you do to try to fight back. Levels frequently throw aggravating and painful gimmicks like exploding vases to add variety to the experience, but only accomplish making your blood pressure rise as they blast you into the air in unblockable, unbreakable combos that end up killing you without giving you a chance to recover.

Had this title gotten just a little more love and attention from its developers, it would have been something great. As it stands, it is a jumbled pile of good ideas that never comes together.

Probably the most underrated fighting game ever made.

Pros:
- Difficult
- Smooth controls. Probably better with a controller, but I use keyboard just fine.
- Not a button masher
- Lots of unlockable moves and powerups
- Hundreds of hours of replayability
- Local co-op
- 4 stage demo available to try out before you buy

Cons:
- Is difficult
- So many unlockable moves, and no way to know how many you have left
- Not a button masher
- No online play

I tend to play this game in bursts where I play for days, then put it down for months. But every time I come back, it retains its charm. This game absolutely NEEDS more recognition.

Many of the negative reviews are railing against the game for "breaking rules" or being "unfair". It is challenging, it takes practice. But in no way is it unfair.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=653610472

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=653754682

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=654508271

感覺風卷殘雲就是被代理和合同給毀了,給人的感覺就是“只要賺錢不要名聲”;

老實說《風卷殘雲》雖然是12年的遊戲,但是我這邊到15年才知道,而且是steam上面的老外好友興衝衝地告訴我有這個遊戲的_(:з」∠)_;

This is beat ‘em-up game where you fight not one, but many opponents in the same time.
It reminds me of games I played in my childhood. They were so difficult sometimes. If you wasn't skilled enough or didn't spend a lot of time to master the game, you couldn't finish it.
If you want to finish Kung Fu Strike even on easiest difficulty level, you need both: skill and time. And a gamepad too.
Is it good? Definitely yes. Well polished, no bugs, good piece of software.

VERDICT:
If you like beat ‘em-up games and don't afraid of high difficulty level, take it. You will have a lot of fun.
If you're not sure if you're hard-core or casual player, find out playing this game.
If you know, you're casual player, better play solitaire.

This game is a very challenging game, the diffiulty may push players away, but it is also a very fun game once you get the hang of it. This game is not for those who like having "the victory" given to them.

Here's some quick gameplay notes:

Each enemy has something unique that requires a different approach.

Levels have unique setups enemy setups and conditions, so the game never feels stale.

Animations are well done. The staff wielding enemies are a prime example.

Attacking an enemy is very satisfying because of the way they react to it.

There are various power ups, attacks, abilities, and items that can be unlocked. One ability that you should focus on getting is Air Guard.

The game supports local co-op (the entire campaign) via gamepad and KB. Both Xinput and Direct Input gamepads are supported (you'll have to configure Direct Input gamepads through the buggy config.exe. Xinput works by default). The game is difficult enough for you to "take turns" with 2 or more friends around.

The combat is not broken as some say and the game does not break its own rules; the only attacks that are unblockable are ones with exclamation marks, it does not depend on the enemy using chi attacks (I do not recall the game ever saying that chi attacks are unblockable) there can be a combination of chi attacks and unblockable attacks which are indicated by an exclamation point.

You have to use common sense when fighting some enemies. You can generally tell if an attack will cause you to stagger should you attempt to guard against it. Some enemies will try to land successive hits. Your first block requires less precision; subsequent blocks require greater precision. You can dodge/block mid-combo.

The game's graphics remind me of the newer Street Fighter games and another game called Power Stone 2 (I'd love to see that on Steam some day).

All in all the game is fun if you like a challenge, you'll have fun retrying over and over again by yourself or with a friend, if you know how to laugh at yourself.

Kung Fu Strike is a needlessly difficult game in which the rules are defined and immediately broken. The combat system is initially exciting but soon becomes tired and clumsy when met with a particular group of enemies or a very unrelenting boss battle. You can not lock onto enemies, instead the game will automatically choose who you're fighting at any given time. There will be times when the game will wait for you to initiate an attack only to have your character unintentionally go soaring over the head of your opponent.

The arenas in which you brawl are often claustrophobic and allow little room for error. The size of the stage will at times be so small and swarmed with such a large amount of enemies that you will lose focus of your character and not be able to clearly see who you should attack and when you should counter.

Speaking of, the counter system is confusing. In the beginning you are told to counter against enemies by following their attack animation and that enemies who suddenly glow red can not be countered. In a later level you will face an opponent who can be countered when glowing red, destroying whatever rules the game had just set. You can not counter low attacks, even when the enemy isn't glowing red. Sometimes countering an attack will not break an opponent's combo as they continue landing attacks, even though it's possible for them to break your combo. If you immediately begin to counter an enemy whose attack animation has just begun your counter animation will sometimes end before they land their attack, often causing you to take significant damage if caught in a combo. Sometimes you may be swarmed with enemies who will all attack at once or immediately one after the other, forcing you to forever counter their attacks or risk taking damage as you focus on a small group of enemies whilst the other group pummels away at you.

The character is always at a disadvantage. You are required to fight, earn money, and then purchase unlockable items in order to stand a chance in future fights. Unfortunately you never really know which items are most appropriate until after you've failed the next battle, there is a lot of trial-and-error involved here and that form of repetitious mechanic isn't very appealing.
