What the developers have to say:

Play for free, keep your stuff! No resets at the end of Beta!

All purchases and unlocks are permanent. We call it Beta because we're still adding some pretty big features, but so far we have:

- Training and Solo play - for learning how to play, or casual fun
- Coop and PvP Matchmaking - quickly get matched against others
- Custom games and rules - when you want total control
- Player driven economy - didn't need that drop? Sell it to other players!
- Quests with ingame rewards - like Achievements, but better
- Leveling, progression, unlocks - level yourself, your AirMechs, expand your army
- NOT "pay2win" at all - check our reviews or ask players ingame
- Global chat, Factions, parties - integrated directly into the core UI
- Crafting system - added due to player demands
- VIP/Premium for LIFE with any purchase - because we're cool like that

Update #207 - Mega Update

Big patch time! We've got new things, improvements, fixes, balance changes and more. We'll briefly touch on the fun stuff, but be sure to dig into the sections below for all the details.

What's new? How about some Ultimate Bombs to start? Almost tactical nukes I'd say--new explosion effects were needed to convey the destructive power. Do you love Bucky? Of course you do, and now there's a little pet version of him that becomes Bucky Head in ground mode! In the running for most awesome thing ever. Want more Diamonds? Well the Diamond Mine Blueprint is now available for any VIP to unlock. There's also a Swift Butcher alternate, and you can play your own maps in Custom games.

Wait what?! Yes, the first version of playing your custom maps with others is in this build! It's still very "alpha", but if you have Prime you can use the map editor to customize or create your own map, then "publish" it to the server. Create a Custom game, check the option to use it (make sure you edited a map first), cross your fingers, and you might end up in it! On the serious side, let us know how that works for you in the forums.

Update #206 - Easter Osprey flies again!

Carbon Games is thrilled to announce an exciting new change for AirMech: growing crops! Do you live on a farm? Do you like to farm games for Kudos? Well now when you're on your farm, farming AirMech games, you can also farm in your Basecamp!

Everyone should have two Shovels they can use to clear space in their Basecamp (upper left corner) and build their very own home! Start with a Base, then move on to planting some Wheat! Of course, you could also build a Hangar, if you are into that kind of thing.

Is today April 1st? Yes it is! Is this a joke? Excellent question! The Basecamp is a little buggy, and you might need to restart AirMech after you start growing something. Where do we go from here? That depends on how funny people find the joke...if it is a joke? There's actually a lot of really neat features that can expand from here, making unlocking access to things make more sense than simple checkboxes. We can expand this to show more about the setting and how players connect with the larger world around them.

We also have a ton of updates and bugfixes in this patch. Loadouts have been reworked, allowing you to save part configs per AirMech, making it so you can change skins without removing all your parts. Note this means all loadouts are reset, hopefully for the last time! We're also standardizing on 100 Part points for now, though in the future the PvE loadouts will be able to get more. PvP will remain fixed at 100.

Be sure to read below for the full list of additions, bug fixes, and balance changes. Note that Parts are in the middle of a major rebalance and will continue to change over the next couple patches.

General Updates:
  • Easter Content enabled for a limited time!
  • Ultimate Jesus appears as the first seasonal Ultimate!
  • Little Chicken is a new Easter exclusive, breaking out of his colored egg!
  • updates to how AirMech loadouts are managed (PVP/RPG slots work now)
  • new Inventory collection view; browse collection sets more easily!
  • new collection sets: FLA, Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, Easter, Ultimate Pilots, and Unit sets
  • more updates to the Player Market background
  • new destruction effects for Paladin, Saucer, and Warthog
  • added team colored support for Stasis Mine
  • faction power reworked
  • artillery shot effects reworked
  • new custom game option for higher latency tolerance
  • player profile cards updated with built-in PM window
  • improve Kudos and Diamond collecting animation

Bug Fixes:
  • fixed Liberty Bomb not showing up when being dropped
  • another fix for AirMechs landing on trees
  • fixed a prop that units could be placed on
  • fixed a terrain tile with an odd shadow
  • fix for custom paths awarding XP for auto-deployed units
  • fix for 'Remember Me' login causing custom game options to be inaccessible
  • fix for Osprey heal beam targeting in the air
  • fixed custom game option icons persisting in other lobbies
  • fixed potential game desync bugs related to NavMesh and unit firing
  • Windows XP might now be supported again, unofficially (needs testing)

Balance Changes:
  • stasis now affects AirMech movement speeds (-15% ground, -30% air)
  • all part points adjusted as the first pass at a major part rebalance
  • all AirMechs will have 100 part points available at all levels
  • allow Missile Burst ability to target flier units with priority on enemy AirMechs
  • artillery units are now inherently inaccurate, based on range to the target
  • increased drop rate for the Bombs ability at levels 1 and 2, level 3 remains unchanged
  • SAM build cost increased from 1000 to 1100
  • SAM armor decreased from 25 to 15
  • SAM move speed decreased from 3.5 to 2.5
  • Grinder, Butcher, and Assassin on Hold order will return to their position after engaging enemy units

Steam Exclusive Offer

Two Portal themed items are now available to all Steam players:

Companion Cube - Found in the ruins of a long abandoned facility, there's something about this utilitarian cube that compels you to keep it at your side. It follows your AirMech in battle acting as a faithful companion Pet until the end! Can be equipped in a Flair slot on any AirMech.

Sentry Turret - Blueprints for this turret were found in a large underground facility in use before the War. They seem to have been designed for use against humans, so this version is equipped with armor piercing rounds to make it more viable against the robot armies used in battle today. They are light and cheap, only effective against weaker units, but you can build a lot quickly to make them useful.

Imagine AirMech as a Transformers MOBA, but with CTP elements and a whole lot better than actual Transformers.

AirMech feels so much fun to play, whether you're having an "I'll play this for half an hour" moment or an "I think I'll try to save up for that AWESOME looking AirMech in the store" moment. Either way, this game is simple to pick up, play and replay. However, putting it down is the hard bit...

Think of it this way: I'm writing this review, I have a highly positive view on the game, and I've only played 6 hours or so AND it's in beta. If a game can make someone do that and it isn't even finished, then it definitely shows signs of a job well done

+ Good Gameplay
+ Good Graphics
+ Great Music and SFX
+ Immersive
+ "One more go...." (Six Hours Later) "ONE MORE GO!"

- A bit fiddly at the start, but easy once you get the hang of it

9/10 - See you on the battlefield

Definitely a download! Only 300 mb! Atleast try it!

Think LoL or DOTA, with RTS thrown in there. Think of it as LoL or DOTA except YOU control the creeps.

Not really P2W, you do have "ultimate" units but those can only be used in Co-op and SP. You can also get them randomly as drops. (My first one was an ultimate jackal!)

It also feels like Halo Wars.

Really fun ARTS. :D

Nice game. Kind of like DOTA, but with transforming mechs. Many different gamemodes make this game unique from other games. Great tutorial explaining everything in the beginning of the game and the odds are a developer is chatting in global answering questions. DIfferent mechs make for different playstyles. (There is no "best" mech). For beginners, there is a COOP mode. There is also a survival mode (basically tower defence). And there is a PvP mode for players who have figured out the game and want more of a challenge then COOP. This is NOT Pay to win. The only thing Carbon Games sells is cosmetics and there is no way you can get an advantage over other players by your wallet.
Great game, 10/10 in my opinion. The game is everything it says it is and more. If you need some help, my name is MLGKITTEN. See you there. Sign up here:

Strategic combat mixed in with the constant challenge of controlling the map. You get to pick from a variety of Airmechs(after unlocking/buying them with in-game currency[Kudos]), all with special abilities. After that, pick a pilot, customize your Airmech with different parts, pick your units, pets, and Guardians, and then engage in an epic high action battle between you(and possibly a partner, CPU or a real human) and your adversary(ies), which again can be CPU or another player. In-game purchases using real money are far from necessary and it's not that difficult to progress. If you want to look a little classier, spend a couple bucks. If you just wanna have some fun, keep your money. In my honest opinion, this is the best free-to-play game on Steam.

This Game Is Great!

So you like DoTA? And the LoLs? Well, I have a new game for you. Play AirMech, it's free! You can have fun for free, and you don't have to pay a penny for anything! You can if you want to, however, and get more virtual currency. This game has the world's greatest range of units I've seen in a while. You can fight people in insane robot dogfights, with easy to learn, hard to master controls! Here's a list of my 5 favorite things from Airmech.

  1. You can meet new people!
  2. The astounding community!
  3. Stars. You'll figure it out if you play. Or look up Airmech Stars or something XP
  4. The fun dogfighting style of gameplay.
  5. The fun collectibles and pets!

    The End!
If you want to refer me or commend me my username is ShaoQuinn!

Great game: Although MatchMaking creates brutally unfair matchups for new players, it is still a fast paced and fun game to play. Talking from experience, I used to be a f2p for more than a year and during that time period I had many cosmetics and skins just from playing. The game is not pay-2-win as most of the units are somewhat fair against eachother and every default skin, part, and unit is achievable without paying any money.
My only problem is I have a 601-123 W-L ratio, and most of my wins are from noobs/new players. Please fix the match-ups because from a new player's perspective, the game is not very fun if every match is against a high-tier player.

As someone who doesn't really like MOBA's, this is one of the better ones that I've played. If not for the glorious control scheme (WSAD I think, but you can change it) I would be not liking this at all. There weren't a whole lot of mechanics when I first played, but it's probably evolved since then. Give it a shot!

Recommended for RTS, MOBA, tower defense (Survival mode), and twin-stick shooter fans. Very unique, unless you played Herzog Zwei for Sega back in the day. If so, you're probably in for a nostalgia trip.

Free to play, but still fair for non-paying players. Money spent, and would do it again.

Just as many have stated, this game is a combination of MOBA, RTS, and Tower Defense. While I'm not really into MOBA, I can still play this game perfectly with an RTS style versus another player who plays with a MOBA style. And if you don't like either MOBA or RTS, you can still play full multiplayer tower defense games (survival mode).

AirMech® is a mixture of popular MOBA's such as Dota 2 and League of Legends combined with lots of entertaining strategy aspects of an RTS. This game is VERY fun, especially with friends, and the matches are quite fast paced, ranging from 8-20 minutes. However, if you are planning on going into a PvP game, make sure you have a good idea of what you are doing, as Match Making can be a bit unforgiving with who you are up against. AirMech's large varity of Units, Pilots and Mechs to choose from, allows for lots of different strategies and playstyles, meaning that each game won't always be the same against different enemy players. The controls are fairly easy to learn and pick up, and the dogfights are always quite exciting to play out. Keep in mind when playing this game though, if you want the best units, gear, AirMechs, cosmetics or EXP/Kudos gain, then you must purchase a VIP Membership. Fortunately, having a VIP Membership won't put you at an extreme advantage against other free players, keeping the playing-field fair.

A very entertaining, free game that is definitely worth your time, 8.5/10

Played since Beta, a lot has changed since, and stil is changing.
I am not a high level player... i like plaing the game just as a recreation, a fast mach in a little spare time.
A adictive game
+short mach fast pased MOBA game
+you have the Mech/hero but you can partialy control the mobs ading new strategies and tactics
+a lot o units you can combine in difrent layouts
+frendly easy going idea in game (no serios super complicated back story)
+simple cartony grafic

- too many items to unlok for a good competitive mech combination
