Outlaw Sectors brings new maps and gameplay options to Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

Outlaw Sectors DLC is here with a new gameplay option and lots of new maps

Challenge yourself with new strategies and unique setups with the new “Outlaw Sectors” gameplay option and brand new maps for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion. The variety of map sizes and designs will let you enjoy any kind of match you want, from intimate 1v1 duels all the way to epic 10-player brawls.

Gameplay Options

The lawless fringe is increasingly hostile, but for those with a criminal mind it's also rich with new opportunities.

Smuggling Specialization: Choose this planetary development to grab a cut of everyone's trade income - but at a cost. The increased corruption from this black market activity will reduce that planet's tax income.

Rampant Militias: Autonomous planetary militias will grow, raid nearby systems, and repopulate over time. Use them to help defend your worlds, or coordinate your attacks with their strikes for maximum impact.

Pirate Turf: Vicious when in their home sector, pirates can now raid multiple players simultaneously, drastically changing the art of the bidding war. And, just to make sure they are fully motivated to do what they do best, all credits spent on bounties will receive an automatic bonus.

Included Maps
Power Struggle - Contest the distant resource fields and nearby planets before striking at the enemy’s homeworld.
Slim Pickings - Claim what remains among the war-torn stars and seize what you can from the other empires.
Crossfire - Take your enemy’s homeworlds and coordinate your assault with your ally in order to win.
High Stakes - Build a powerful fleet and seize the resource rich planets from enemy militia.
Ironheart - Flanked by an enemy on each side, you must prioritize your resources carefully to achieve victory.
Titans of Cimtar - Secure your planet from among the 8 gas giants dominating the map, then make war upon your neighbors.
Death Spiral - The system is falling into a black hole and your enemies aren’t about to let you leave without a fight.
Dogfight - Lead your allies into glorious battle amongst the stars in this huge map.
Buzzsaw - Make one mistake and you may lose more than you bargained for in this spiral galaxy that leaves no room for error.
Rising Empires - Secure your star system amidst the crushed local resistance and set your sights on your rivals’ territories.
Desolation - Claim what little the Vasari have left behind and forge what remains of the worlds in the massive cluster of stars into a force capable of conquest.

Outlaw Sectors DLC is now available on Steam or through Stardock.

About This Game

The Next Installment to the Award-Winning RTS.
While many were hopeful that diplomacy would finally end the war, differing opinions on what should be done, along with the depleted power of the controlling factions, has led to a splintering of the groups involved.

The loyalist members of the Trader Emergency Coalition adopt a policy of isolation, focusing on enhanced defenses to ride out the rest of the war. Those who rebel against the coalition take on a purely militant view, coming to the opinion that the only way to bring peace is by ultimately crushing all who oppose them - especially xenos.

For the first time in their history, the war creates a schism in the Advent Unity. The loyalists seek to continue their policy of revenge against the Traders, and to assimilate all others to the Unity’s influence. However, others amongst the Advent suspect that a corrupting influence from within has diverted the Unity from its proper destiny.

The divide created in the Vasari Empire is less pronounced, but just as severe to their people. With the Vasari now practically frantic to move on to new space, the loyalist faction abandons cooperation and decides to take the resources they need by any means necessary. Having accepted the need to work together, the rebel faction feels that their best chance for survival is to work with the other races and bring them along to flee the approaching enemy.

Take the battle for galactic supremacy to its ultimate level in Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion – a standalone RT4X game that combines the tactics of real-time strategy with the depth of the 4X genre (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate).

Key features:

  • New Factions: Decide whether to play as a Loyalist or Rebel – each unlocks new technologies, ships and play styles for each race.
  • New Titan Class Warships: Mighty titans enter the fray of the war to tip the scales of power. Each faction may field their own unique titan, drawing upon unique strengths and abilities on the battlefield.
  • New and Updated Capital Ships: A new capital ship joins the fleet for each race to offer even more tactical options. Additionally, all existing capital ships have been upgraded to four levels for their abilities, allowing players to focus their ships along specific strengths.
  • New Corvette Class Ships: Small and maneuverable, each faction has developed a new light attack craft to harass enemy forces.
  • Updated Visuals: Updated graphics, particle effects, lighting and shadows, race specific UI and other enhancements make the Sins’ universe look better than ever.
  • New Victory Conditions: Take multiple paths to victory including – Military, Diplomatic, Research, Last Flagship Standing, Last Capital Standing and Occupation.
  • New Audio: More than 60 minutes of original music, countless new sound effects and dozens of new voice overs help bring the drama of battle to new levels of immersion.
  • Tutorials: New and updated tutorials make it easy for both experienced and new players to quickly start building their own solar empire.
  • Plus, a number of optimizations that provide better performance than ever before!

played a 2v2 match vs hard ai with my friend, this is our story.

-i choose vasari loyalists
-he picks TEC Rebels
-build capital ship
-reccomend ship for friend to start out with
-he ignores me
-immeadiately go on the warpath and conquer 6 planets
-my one capital ship downs enemy capitial ships like a fat man vs a large pizza
-friend mentions that he thinks he can take me due to superior numbers of capital ships
-oh really now?
-laugh it off with him
-finish my titan before him
-focus all effort into researching stripped to the core
-show friend what stripped to the core does
-use resources from stripping enemy ai worlds to build even more capital ships (to the max limit and full basic training)
-notices friend is almost done killing off the other ai player
-secretly breaks pact with friend
-sends my very first and most elite capital ship to engage my friends titan
-ships tanks the titan until half hp
-retreat it to repair at home
-jump in the rest of my aramada
-friend wonders what is going on
-kill friends titan
-friend is most enraged
-attacks my closest world to his armada
-places phase gate with my titan to warp every ship to counter the threat
-easily pick off another two of his capital ships and wreck his frigates and cruisers
-send armada to his homeworld and captures it easily
-strips his homeworld bare
-friend deletes me from his list and blocks me from steam and gets mod to ban me from the ventrillo server

20/10 would turn friends homeworld into useless dead rock again.

There is no single-player campaign. I can't unravel a game of this complexity by playing maps with the AI straightaway. What do I do first, second, etc.?

I don't understand, what kind of an RTS game doesn't have a campaign or story?

This is the best 4X space game. Can play a ton of games, solo or multiplayer, even without a campaign and it will be different and enjoyable every time. (my hours don't reflect a fraction of the time played I had box of original shipped no DRM and playing on digital copy on release of original Sins probably 300+hrs easy not counting mods) The graphics are really good for a game with this scale I did not expect this level. But if your rig can handle it it looks good even with a massive map and ships everywhere. But also huge modding community that is amazing. Once you get tired of it make it Star Trek, Star Wars or Battlestar and enjoy or lose all those hundreds of hours again. Cannot believe they let this title sit idle for so long.

Glad they are releasing new content now and haven't forgotten about the game. Trying to boost publicity possibly? Brings hope for new big expansion or new game! Maybe this time we will get a campaign and finally see who or what the heck that warning was all about!

This is an enjoyable interpretation of the 4X space genre which focuses more on conflict. Games can be quick and intense. Though it rewards mobs, there is a special place for special units which augment mobs or else stand against them.

It's the best space strategy next to the Homeworld series.
Especially with the modding aspect

This is one of the first PC RTS games I played and one of my favorits and with the summer sale I'm ready to buy the DLC.
Do not that to play this game you need a graphics card otherwise even if your computer could normaly run it with intergrated the game will crash but it is still worth it. 10/10 would play with friends

Get to play as alien race with an advisor that sounds like he is dying everytime he reports something back. 10/10 would have halfdead advisor again.

This is the greatest 4X RTS game of all time. Combine that with one of the best modding communities out there and you have a game that allows you to control the capital ships of pretty much every major sci fi franchise. You want to have iconic battles with Star Wars ships? Go right ahead. Want to get the feel for why humanity was losing the war in space in Halo? Play as the UNSC. Ever wanted to be the Borg and assimilate all those who would dare appose you? Have fun. Or maybe some Battle Star Galatica is more in you alley? The game itself is amazing but with mods it becomes much more. Honestly I would buy this game for 100$ if the decided to price it that high.

I can't say if it's the best 4X style space game, but I've been playing Sins since the original one came out, and am still enjoying the game to this day. Also some very good mods for Rebellion, especially if you like Star Trek.

a great game runs well with a laptop not designed for gaming on medium graphics, only issue is no campaign but the huge amount of skirmish options make up for this. Sadly the steam workshop has no mods for this game however there are still many mods on the internet with clear download guides. STILL A GREAT GAME
