Awesomenauts was fun when I first started, and as most games in my library can attest, I played it off and on for a while before I moved on to other games.

When I came back to this one, however, I found the game I once enjoyed casually was no-longer receptive to my casual-style approach. I tried playing for almost 4 hours before I resignedly-uninstalled, unable to enjoy the game's casual matchmaking for the sheer lack of fun.

I was paired with the same 3 people each match, usually 3v1 while bots made up my team. We were destroyed time and time again, with new players connecting only to disconnect after seeing how one-sided the match was.

Sorry Awesomenauts

Honestly the game itself is fantastic. The communty has suffered as the years have continued. This I agree with the other posts, but if the commuity is suffering then the best way to fix it is to add better community to the game. Playing this with friends is an awesome time regardless of the fact there can be some seriously uncouth people online. My advice: Play the game and if you want the community to be better then make it better. Honestly if you spent as much time trying to fix it as complaining about it then it could be an amazing community. It definitely used to be.

Great 2D MOBA (3 vs 3) with frantic action that keeps you on your toes to the last second of the game. Great character design, well thought-out powers and powerups. Characters feel very different from each other and it takes different tactics to win with each one. I love the local co-op / split screen aspect because it lets me play with my daughter (who's already better than me at this game, sadly for me) and a few friends/family when they pay us a visit.

They increased the AI difficulty in one of the latest releases, which makes fighting bots much more interesting (and harder). You can select the AI level in the parameters of the game. It will take you some time to win against the bot on hardest difficulties and before you can contend with real players (and win).

The game started off fun but then the devs added the dlc characters who are the most broken things ever. Add on to that a match makeing that puts max perstige against noobs. Don't buy modern awesomnaughts it is a broken mess that on top of the money you spent on the game makes you buy the broken dlc characters if you want to win.

It's just not worth it.

I've owned to copies of this game (one on 360 and one on PC) and have been playing pretty much sinced it launched over four years ago and I can't honestly reccomend it. The characters can get broing quickly and you can only get away with playing the meta if you want to enjoy the game as more often than not you're with people who aren't good enough against people who are too good. Though these games don't cost you much if any rank they just leave a game where you win or lose by luck and poor balance. If you want to play a MOBA stick to LoL or DOTA, though, IMO, not as 'fun' as this game they actually work and are balanced by competent people who don't promise to fix the most crucial part of the online then present no progress for THREE YEARS only of it to have to go through multiple beta's and still not be released as of the time of writing. Perhaps in the future it will be good but in it's current state with the funding and support it's got from kickstarter and most of the Polaris group standing by it it has made little to no meaningful progress as an experience

TL;DR: Not good or enjoyable enough for a P2P with DLC and Skins

I bought this game a while back and convinced my friends to buy it too so we could play with people.
Sadly, there's no one online anymore.
Those online seem more interested in chatting than playing.
I think it's time for this game to go free to play.
Ps: I was really excited about playing a sidescrolling MOBA with great gameplay mechanics. But with people, not bots.

Dear ****** I've played HOW MANY hours?! I've never... ever... ever... played a game this long.

Let me tell you my journey. I bought this game after about a year or two of hating the idea of it. I thought it looked way too childish. But then it went on sale, and I was inhebriated, and I thought, "Why not."

I was instantly taken back to my days of discovering online competetive games like Soldat (before it was pay to play), and I was hooked. I wasn't nearly as good as I was when I was 10, taking on 14 opponents on my own, lobbing one hit kill grenades at them from half a map away without effort, but I quickly found myself sucked into trying to figure out which character's skills fit me best and how I could customize them each round to suit my needs.

Over the course of 1000 hours I felt a lot of things about this game. I am not a multiplayer game type of gamer, so it took me a few attempts to get used to resetting each round, and the nasty awful people who play all multiplayer games and blame everyone else for losing without actually providing useful advice drove me away from the game a number of times. I eventually learned to ignore the chatbox completely and just friend the players I thought played well, or who actually tried to work as a team. Suddenly I actually felt like I was having fun playing this game I payed for, and I steadily improved.

The community is BAD. Don't play expecting to make friends. That is it's biggest flaw as a multiplayer game. But that's a bigger issue altogether.

The game itself is complex and engaging, it's characters are mostly unique and intriguing. I rarely run into technical issues. I never wanted to admit it but I really love this game.

Awesomenauts is definitely fun if you play with friends, but I cannot find myself enjoying this game for an hour when playing by myself.

- Decent graphics
- Combat is actually skill based
- Good for playing with friends
- Not too addicting
- avocado
- Tons of unique characters each with their own abilities
- Ranked matches
- Leveling system doesn't require grind
- Doesn't feel like LoL or Dota

If your looking for a game to have a love/hate realtionship with, look no futher than here. Everything you love is here, a fun 2D MOBA style game, Cool Characters, fun gameplay and abilities. But don't forget about everything you hate also, like the game having worse balance than a mentally handicap gymnast, and how just about every character in the game can 100 to 0 you, lag is also one of the strongest things in the game, and the "community" is worse than the chicken pox at age 40. And that's about it I've seen this game grow and change over the course of a few years and while don't play it as much as I used I still have positive feelings and memories about it. I would definitely recommend this game to people who want to get into MOBA's but are a little to nervous to dive straight into something like DOTA, LoL, and Smite.

Awesomenauts is a game that gets constantly flawed due to the mass amounts of characters within the game, however, because of their team they are able to understand what went wrong and will go through most problems (EXP system is still horrid, as is lag but that cant be helped unless dedicated servers). Being that the game isn't in full steam regarding its community the dev team have to take an absured amount of time, but the problems do and will get their fixes, By now they wish to implement a new system to secure matchmaking, due the unbalance it currently has.

Regarding the game outside of matchmaking, the art style is nice and is getting tweeks with certain characters, the dlc is alright based on the custom voicelines and changes of appearance. I dislike most of the announces though, just based on the idea that you constantly hear them throughout the whole game, i'd much rather stick with the plain announcer.

The maps are not in quantity and sometimes there are ways for useers to dominate certain maps based on abilitys, however there is always a way around them if your able to have decent communication with your team (which never really happens btw).

So overall, Awesomenauts is a game i feel is mixed; i like its characters and their abilitys, but i dont have any love for the matchmaking system, especially with users constantly rage quiting or just bad mouthing the whole game, however i can somewhat deal with this and am just waiting until the next installment of changes comes soon.

Till then 6/10 Stills needs improvement to be fully functional...

Holy crap........I have played this game for a loooooooooong time. I played this game ever sense it released back on the PS3. Sadly though it went to s♥♥♥. Ronimo fails to open there eyes and realize how OP some characters are and wont nerf them. Yet they have no problem nerfing other characters that were perfect the way they were. The meta for this game changes way to much in a bad way. If Ronimo for some reason feels that a character has a move that causes problems in the game, they get rid of it and replace it with something else thats either really good (OP) or really bad. Never the less people still have to change there play style. Another major problem is how people will play OP characters that require no skill what so ever and be some of the biggest d♥♥♥♥ about it. So yea the community is just as bad as how balanced the game is. Its like they support the top tier characters and let the ones that cant keep up fall. There are other problems with the game but i feel like one of the worst ones involves the big balance issue. I can also talk about the team set ups and how sooooo many players just que up and pick characters that have very toxic moves like Penny, Skolldir, and Ayla but i would rather just like to end with this. The game is fun and good at some moments but it lost its apeal when i started to notice how bad the characters were being treated. Give it a try when it hits the sales i guess but i woud simply keep away cause the game and community are dying do to how Ronimo cant listen. If you look at how many positive comments there are and think "wow that a lot of players that play this game" then your so wrong. Its just about 800 or less and dropping as you read this. Will update this comment if the game does fix its problems but i doubt they will.

This is a game that honestly had a lot of potential. It's easily capitvating for most new players, the art direction is nice, it has charming characters, and has great music.
But Ronimo took it in too many wrong directions.

There's numerous balance issues that they've been too blind to fix and when they do actually fix them it creates new issues. Which means the meta is constantly changing and there's always going to be people who abuse this which can occasionally limit who I can safely play. When I'm in higher leagues I don't want to be discouraged from playing certain fun characters just because the enemy team picked an overpowered team composition, because at that point it's not fun anymore, it's just a chore to try to win.

Also I would like to point out that there's STILL features from the starstorm expansion that we haven't gotten (Even after releasing the overdrive expansion), and it's been what, 2 years? They hyped up the Starstorm Map so much and said it was gonna be super unique and have all these cool features, and we finally DID get it, but it was a bit underwhelming. It's certainly a well-designed map, but honestly I was expecting a lot more, considering how long it took to actually MAKE it.

Then we have the upcoming Happy Matchmaking Server, which is probably their biggest mistake yet. This is the kind of feature that would honestly work if the game had a larger player base, but something like this won't really do much for a player base thats <800. Their goal was to make this game a "casual-friendly" moba, but with the HMS coming up, it's pretty much becoming the opposite. And from what I've seen, the HMS itself doesn't seem to be fixing matchups that much, I've still been running into people across the world and people who are miles ahead/behind me in rank. The HMS as a whole makes me think they just copy-pasted from Overwatch, but forgot that they barely even have a fraction of the players Overwatch has.

This is a kind of game you'd probably enjoy every now and then, but don't bother trying to actively play it, it's slowly fading away and Ronimo is too optimistic to see that.
