What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is in a complete, playable state - But the story remains unresolved. I'm looking for feedback to decide how to expand on the current mechanics and how much further to scale the game up. Do you want a rich story with an explosive resolution, or should the game remain primarily a puzzle platformer? This is my first Steam release and I want to do everything I can to ensure it is well received.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Admittedly, the Early Access banner has been on No Way Up longer than I originally intended, but it is far from abandoned. After some wonderful feedback I made the decision to essentially remake the game from the ground up. I've since added multiple new traps, enemies and features, as well as overhauled all the existing assets. I am in the process of creating some exciting new levels, but this will take some considerable time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I have plans to introduce at least 2 more characters, more enemies, traps and obstacles, and many more levels. When the next update goes live, it will include at least 2 new traps, and an ominous guardian know as the Sentinel.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is 100% playable, but finishes with a game-altering decision and an "End of Chapter 1" message. There are 48 fully-playable levels, 2 playable characters, 2 enemy types, lots of puzzles, traps, and a story which currently concludes on a cliffhanger which I'll be expanding upon.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“This is my flagship game, and I want it to reach as many people as possible. If I decide the price should increase, it will hardly be noticeable.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I want people to enjoy my games, and would like to take my lead from the community's feedback. If people enjoy the level design but don't appreciate the story-telling, the game will be less story-driven and more geared towards simple, fun platforming. If the puzzles are too simple, I can spice them up! I really want to engage with my players and include them in deciding where this game is ultimately heading. Feedback via reviews and the community section will be very closely monitored.”
