About This Game

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.

Mirror's Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous.

Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run. From the makers of the groundbreaking Battlefield franchise, Mirror's Edge is an action-adventure experience unlike any other.

Features

  • Move yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.
  • Immerse yourself: In first person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.
  • Challenge yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.
  • Free yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running — what keeps you alive.

Overall, this game was very well done, it was new for it's time and I still consider it revolutionary. Parts may frustrate you and seem glitchy, and the control scheme takes a while to get down pat as well as how Faith (main character) moves. But I'd still highly recommend this game to anyone that wants to try something new.

Parkour forms the base of this game. Jumping from one place to another running on railway tracks add the glossy primary colours forming the environment add to the X factor of the game, but slowly the game becomes repetitive.
The story line is not that compelling and won't grip you for long, the environment starts to pinch your eyes. The game requires you to do the same things again and again.
I will still recommend this game for the unique design and one of a kind Parkour experience, and though it does become repetitive, it still needs one shot to know that it's way better than most of the games out there.

This game is pretty decent, but I would say is fairly niche. I'm gonna keep this review simple.

Pros: Concept is seemingly unique

The art direction of the game makes look even good 7+ years later.

Cons: Very short campaign. I beat it in less than 7 hours and there's not much of an incentive to go back and replay the levels since there's no achievements or to my knowledge, unlockables.

The game crashed on me a couple of times. Keep in mind that you might not have this particular issue.

There were a few times in the game I was completely stumped on where to go, which was weird because aside from those two or three instances, the game seems to do a pretty good job of giving you at least a faint idea of where to go. So... semi-con I guess?

Overall, I'd say pick this game up. Just wait until it's on sale though as I think this game is more worth like, $15 nowadays.

Mirror's edge... Mirror's edge... Mirror's edge... i completed this game 4 times on xbox 360 a few years ago, the gameplay is amazing, especially when you factor the 2008 publish year, and the graphics still look great, again 2008! since i got it on pc i completed it twice and am going to sit down and complete it again soon, its a great game as long as you really enjoy the movement mechanics because the story is regretably extremly short, if you're good at it, you can finish it in an hour or 2... Mirror's edge...

Wow!
This game is amazing! I love every single exhilirating moment of the gameplay, (Except when I fail a stunt 20 times in a row....) The awesome brightly colored cityscape, the fact that you get to run across building tops and not have the restrictions of a typical gamer, (Gah! I twisted an ankle! Gah! I skinned my knee! Gah! Sunlight!) and the super tricky combat ( I don't use the weapons, I prefer to combat batman-style.I don't know why people hate it!). It is a spectacular game, and I definately wish more people knew about it.
9/10 Worth 20 bucks

You ever seen an action movie and the guy does this amazingly cool shot where he jumps in the air while doging other bullets and gets the exact shot on his head killing him once and for all and it's like the coolest thing you've ever seen?
What if he missed that shot?
That's basicly the best way I can describe Mirror's Edge.

While Mirror's Edge is a unique and innovative game, it sometimes seems as if it's trying and failing to not be a game at all. Holding passable first-person shooter elements and a sometimes difficult-to-control system of parkour, Mirror's Edge is very linear but offers both aesthetic and sensual delight. That may sound strange but, to be honest, the joy you get from leaping acoss rooftops here is simply incompareable.

Possibly what makes Mirror's Edge so strange is the combat. Being a dive kick and quick one-two follow up with the fisticuffs the bane of nearly every enemy you encounter, it's obvious that this game was not designed with violence in mind. Unless, of course, I'm very bad at disarming enemies and instead found cheeseballing the first one and blowing the rest away with his gun the best way to stay alive. Regardless, you'll probably find it challenging as an inescapable hailstorm of bullets seems to chase Faith throughout the duration of her journey.

In the end, Mirror's Edge is an intriguing experiment in gaming and what it offers is unlikely to be found elsewhere. The parkour is what it's all about and the smoothing of a classic FPS feel certainly helps with that. Big jumps, horizontal wall runs and slides are abundant and each of these actions is perfectly rendered into an almost tangible experience. Merely watching the world pass by through Faith's eyes and listening to each weary breath that separates lengthy drops and skill rolls invites you to feel the incredible athleticism the art requires. You feel strong as you move through a city filled with colours and sounds that bring you into the atmosphere, though your capabilities are kept just within the realm of possibility.

Even with gameplay mechanics that can be aggravting and a story that's easy to ignore, Mirror's Edge is definitely worth a playthrough. If you're just looking for a fun "parkour game," go buy Assassin's Creed II instead and you'll be happier. Mirror's Edge shines as a game that appeals to the senses and works to immerse you into its world with a level of success that makes it noteworthy.

P.S. Your "think parkour" mentality in regards to mazes will apply to this game in no way whatsoever, unfortunately.

This game is one, if not, my favorite game of all time. The action, music, and parkour is really good. The combat can be a pain and the story is short. But overall, a really amazing game

This title is a bit of a classic now. The story only clocks in at 5 to 6 hours and doens't have much replayability, but those few hours will be an intense ride over rooftops and balconies. It's definitely an exciting and fast paced experience (and is the only game that has ever given me motion sickness).

It is not a good game, but it is a good experiment. I think everyone should play this and praise the devs for trying something different.

But the game overall is forgettable. I would like to see these elements in new games.

I kid you not when I say that Mirror's Edge is quite possibly one of the most prettiest video games out there. Its hard to believe a game like this from a couple of years ago still lives up to modern standards with its amazing art style and fantastic graphics. The game is vibrant and unique with good color choices such as red to stand in for objective markers.

The gameplay consists of fast paced parkour with a little bit of gunplay and combat as added flavor. The parkour is well design with Faith's movements being incredibly fluid given the engine. You see her hand and leg movements from first person as she leaps from rooftop to rooftop and gracefully scales ledges. Gunplay is rather weak but breaks up the parkour sections well to prevent the game from getting too repetitive. Pistols, shotguns, sniper rifles and assault rifles are examples of weapons you'll be able to wield. Hand to hand combat is also available and with good precision you'll be able to fluidly transition into gun combat after disarming a nearby opponent.

Sadly there is no multiplayer and the story is rather short. However for the first game in the series, it is able to ♥♥♥♥ all the right points and is worth a try for anybody looking for a parkour game.
