About This Game

In a city where information is heavily monitored, agile couriers called Runners transport sensitive data away from prying eyes. In this seemingly utopian paradise, a crime has been committed, your sister has been framed and now you are being hunted. You are a Runner called Faith and this innovative first-person action-adventure is your story.

Mirror's Edge™ delivers you straight into the shoes of this unique heroine as she traverses the vertigo-inducing cityscape, engaging in intense combat and fast paced chases. With a never before seen sense of movement and perspective, you will be drawn into Faith's world. A world that is visceral, immediate, and very dangerous.

Live or die? Soar or plummet? One thing is certain, in this city you will learn how to run. From the makers of the groundbreaking Battlefield franchise, Mirror's Edge is an action-adventure experience unlike any other.

  • Move yourself: String together an amazing arsenal of wall-runs, leaps, vaults and more, in fluid, acrobatic movements that turns every level of the urban environment to your advantage and salvation.
  • Immerse yourself: In first person every breath, every collision, every impact is acutely felt. Heights create real vertigo, movements flow naturally, collisions and bullet impacts create genuine fear and adrenaline.
  • Challenge yourself: Fight or flight. Your speed and agility allow you not only to evade, capture and perform daring escapes, but also to disable and disarm unwary opponents, in a mix of chase, puzzles, strategy and intense combat.
  • Free yourself: Runner vision allows you to see the city as they do. See the flow. Rooftops become pathways and conduits, opportunities and escape routes. The flow is what keeps you running — what keeps you alive.

This game has such a great concept, but the gameplay is very clunky. Hopefully they learned from their mistakes when making the sequel.

A great game about parkour. Good storyline. I love the art style and it great to play when your bored.

Sadly there is a bug where Physx Support needs to be turned off, If it is left on when glass breaks the game will drop to around 6FPS which is extremely unplayable. Other than that everything else works perfectly

Mirror's Edge is fantastic little game with fun, believeable parkour and was a blast to play through.

+Well-crafted and interactive movement, keeping you on your toes and timing your landings right.
+Solid graphics and gorgeous environments.
+Good story with a decent length of 3-5 hours.
+Fantastic music and ambience.

-Combat is not it's strong point, but it is manageable.
-Bugs out occasionally, although it is rare.
-Very linear, I would've liked to see more of the world.

Overall, Mirror's Edge is a great game with a nice story and good mechanics. Combats a bit naff and I personally would've liked to explore more of the world.
8/10 would mirror again.

I love Mirror's Edge. It's not a perfect game--it has many flaws in fact. But it's fast and fun. It generally wants to keep you moving, though I often like to stop and explore and smell the roses in games. There's a few interesting discoveries you can make if you do, little tidbits about the game world and stuff. But the mainn thrust is always the same: forward momentum.

Mirror's Edge is also rather unrealistic. A real, actual human being would probably have died three times over on many of the levels--performing exactly the stunts that Faith, the main character, performs. Jumping off tall buildings and landing on big boxes or other subjects 30 or more feet below, or getting shot several times in a single fight, only to duck out of the fight, wait for a few seconds, and return again with your health fully regenerated (and without anything akin to a shield, ala Halo)? All in a days' work for Faith, even though you have NO FREAKING IDEA if those things you're landing on will support your weight, or whether there might be BRICKS directly underneath that apparently soft surface Faith is landing on. And don't even get me started on the helicopter scene at the end of the game. I've never done parkour in real life, but I would assume it actually requires a fair amount of careful thinking and observation when planning your moves. Faith is pretty much just supposed to leap and have the faith that she's going to survive her jump without any major bodily injures. Not very realistic at all.

But Mirror's Edge is still a lot of fun. I've beaten it four times I think, and have watched a number of playthroughs online. Speedrunners love this game I guess, and it's easy to see why. If you like the challenge of repeatedly trying to break your fastest time, play Mirror's Edge. If you're interested in seeing a utopian/dystopian society, a city that has been through some big riots but is now happy, bright and peaceful, and heavily monitored in the name of security--a world where ALL the colors are bright white, bright green, bright blue, bright red and orange; a world where there are big advertising banners everywhere, and where there isn't "news anymore, it's progaganda," Mirror's Edge may be the game for you.

Mirror's Edge is a First Person Parkour/Shooter Where you play as an Indivisual Named Faith Connors, who lost her Family, besides her sister, Kate. Faith lives in a city named Cascadia, and a Mayoral Candidiate named Robert Pope was First discovered Dead by Kate and Faith. The elements of this plot is that Kate is a CPF cop, and was framed to be Pope's Killer. Now, Faith must discover who the real killer is. I rate this game a 10/10 for realism, staying on Plot, and Convienently placed Plot Twists that flow to audiences as Shocking.

Mirror's Edge. You climb walls and shizzle

- -: Parkour is nice, despite that sometimes Faith never grabs the ♥♥♥♥ing ledge I want her to, it's fluid and smooth.
- -: The soundtrack is one of my favourite parts about it, Solar Fields did an Excellent job on it. Props to him.
- -: Visuals looks pretty damn good for a 2008 game.
- -: Quite atmospheric and Immersive
- -: Cartoon animations for some cutscenes. Despite the animation being a bit shoddy at times, it's a nice feat.

- -: The story honestly tries, but fails. I kind of liked the characters, I kind of didnt.
- -: Combat is a cool addition, specially the disarming feature, but it's a bit tricky to master, and easily avoidable
- -: There are some glitches, but not too many.

- -: A.I is garbage, the only way they'll truly kill you is when they get bigger guns later on in the game
- -: Why do my enemies go completely stiff/ gmod like when I kill them? I dont understand why DICE couldn't just put animations for when enemies get shot at. Sure, you dont have to use guns, but some people like to.
- -: When the soundtrack just stops playing.

9/10 - Don't play the sequel, it unfortunately doesn't have much charm as this one.

Very Underrated
Im going to keep this brief as I could talk forever about this game.
The game was amzing when it came out serveral years ago and imo still holds up today better than Catalyst ;). The story isnt the best but the gameplay is really good especially when you get into speed running etc, Im not good at speedrunnign yet still love the game, as it gives great sense of accomplishement getting a PB due to the skill ceiling, yet good overall a cult masterpiece.

Ah..Parkour, my favorite way of getting around town. Mirror's Edge put this into a game and damn...for me it took about 20 hours to learn how to side-step boost, kick glitch and coil boost. After that you play the story again and again to get the perfect times. After that the time trials will grab you. Currently holder of 4 world records.

I have just finished the story mode and I gotta say I enjoyed my time. It's my first game of this kind so let me make a quick review.
+ graphics
For an older game, the graphics was just amazing and I caught myself just standing for a while admiring it, graphics is 10/10 in this game.
+ story
Even though on the beginning it doesn't "pull you in", gradually the story gets better and by the end of the game I was truly invested into the story, wasn't too original, just normal stuff.
+ music
Doesn't matter if you're fighting, exploring around or trying to figure out how to get on that ledge, the music is always amazing and fits the situation, it makes the experience better.
+ gameplay
Everything seems so fluid, your reactions have to be quick and when you're trying to escape "Blues" your heart starts racing, I wasn't able to put this game down until it was finished.
+ content
After you finish the story, you can go complete timed runs and work on your skills, compare yourself to others.
- shortness of game
Despite not having watched any kind of guides and spending long time figuring things out, this game took me 7 hours to complete, which is fairly shot in my opinion.
- enemies AI
I think a blindfolded monkey would hit me more often than enemies in this game, except for maybe last 2 chapters, I could run around in circles and not a single bullet landed, fun stuff (normal mode).
- combat
It just didn't feel right for me, not being able to see health nor ammo, making it just hit'n'run at times, I loved my time when I could just run around, not escaping bullets.

All in all, this game is still worth playing, as the pros outweigh the cons by a lot, I'd surely recommend this game to anyone, 7/10.

First of all, don't be fooled, even if it says that i only played 0.2 hours, it's not true. i can't use the steam client all the time, so i play offline, i actually played 2 hours and a half, give or take.

Anyway, like most of other reviewers, i have to select NO, unfortunately, this game is a "yes, but.." kind of game. Don't get me wrong, the game looks stunning but it's basically "portal meets super mario". you are thrown into a level and you have to get to the other side by jumping and running on walls, but if you die (and you WILL die, more on that later) you'll respawn in a fixated spawn point (just like portal) the problem that this spawn point can be anywhere from a few feet away to three rooftops away, this will force you to re-jump previously jumped obstacles, re-punch enemies and re-listen to any conversation that might have happened (i swear to God, if i have to hear that "the cops are closing in" one more time i'm going to kill someone). now, about the dieing part, everything wants you dead and will shoot you on sight. there is no stealth option, no way to defend yourself besides the stupidly weak melee attack (i know, you can disarm cops but first you must get IN RANGE and wait for the gun to get flashy and even if you do that, you'll have only a couple of shots) and if you are even slightly misalligned you'll end up doing the wrong kind of jump, plummeting to your doom...and respawning...and hearing those same lines over and over and over again.
the story for what i could grasp between the bullets, it's the classic distopian future with evil corporates that want to silence the good people (feel free to correct me on this one) but, again, it's hard to focus on the story when you are shot by literally the entire police force! and, apparently, there are subquests you should complete (picking up bags, i think) but i was only able to find 3 of them (again, hard to explore when trying to avoid bullets).
i'm really disappointed, it's the first time i actually asked for a refund

so, to recap:
+good visuals
+interesting setup
+(probably) good story

-anti-immersive game mechanics
-you'll burn more miles in half an hour of this game than Shaggy and Scooby did in the whole Scooby-Doo universe
-necessity to explore but inability to do so
-annoying navi-like navigator (i know there are cops here, THEY ARE SHOOTING ME!)

I finally got my hands on this game, after all these years. So many times have I heard how good this game is.
First of all, the game looks stunning for such an "old" game.
Also this whole fps parkour concept was really unique and it had really good potential.

Well that was really most of the things I enjoyed in Mirror's Edge.

Most of the times I just hoped for the game to end, which by the way was really short. It could easily be beaten in three hours if you play in normal difficulty and you don't easily get killed by the bad AI or fall to your death because of the clunky controls.

The story was interesting in the start, but it didn't take long when it didn't interest me anymore by being so poor and short. Even the ending was odd and it just stopped way too early. Cutscenes between the chapters were really cheap looking. Like did EA stop funding DICE in the middle of the production?

Combat was one of the worst things here. I can't name any other fps with combat bad as in Mirror's Edge. Fighting with fisticuffs almost made me cry. Disarming an opponent was made a bit too hard and clumsy. Sometimes it would have been nice to sneak and skip a fight, but somehow the AI knows exactly where I am, and then most of the times I cannot escape from their rain of fire.

The clunky controls were one of the reason I wanted to quit the game numerous times. Mostly the game did not do what I wanted it to do. Sometimes it didn't want to grab a certain ledge, jump at the right time, nor did anything smoothly as excpected. For example sometimes I lost all of my speed when Faith did not want to run to a step, which was few inches high (so she stopped and I had to jump on it). Also it was really common that Faith got stuck in certain points and it made me fail my jump.

Now I know people will say that I will get better with the clumsy controls if I play more. But the problem is, the game is so short and it has no replay value. Also there is a time trial gamemode, but I dont really want to touch it after the storymode.

I bought it from the summer sale for a few euros, but sadly it wasn't really worth it.
I really wanted to like this game...

I give it 5/10.
