One of the classics games of the 2000s. Implements portions of stealth, platforming, action, and racing. It also includes a nifty element of taking pictures of different species of wild life to earn money. You(Jade) will have help of a companion for the most of game to help you in situations from puzzle solving, and fighting. Has a really interesting plot that involves around a conspiracy! You(Jade) suspect that the local military is working with an invading alien race the DomZ of kidnapping the local Hillyis population, and you need proof to unravel this conspiracy and get the doubting remaining population of Hilliyis to believe you and put a stop to it.

It's like Jak and Dexter or Super Mario 64. It's a very good game, story is very strange though.

A game that is still as good as it was when it came in 2003. Maybe even better because today it's a classic.

A young woman Jade and her uncle, a boar like creature, Pey'j live in a lighthouse along with orphans whom they take care of. In the planet Hillys were they live, a war with an alien species called DomZ has raged on for many years. Ruining lives and landscape the war has taken it's toll on everybody. Despite a military organization Alpha Sections' reassurence that they will protect the citizens and push back the DomZ, everything has stayed the same. With a mission Jade receives she gets a chance to stop the war with a help of the IRIS Network, an underground rebel organization.

Beyond Good & Evil's gameplay varies and it basically has everything. Puzzle solving, combat, stealth, photographing species, adventuring and exploring, optional racing and mini games. And here's the secret: Every piece of the game, be it big or small, is enjoyable and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Nothing seems tedious or annoying to do. Even if combat is pretty much just smashing one button it doesn't feel repetitive. Stealth is needed to take out enemies with more power than you. Puzzles are mostly figuring out how to get somewhere but it doesn't feel like they are showed down our throats. Photographing little creatures in the planet is a lovely little add.

And you just gotta love the characters! I'm not much of a fan of women in games (or in general) but Jade has a great personality and is very brave. Pey'j on the other hand is the kind of uncle I would like to have myself. Double H is a soldier and has strong sense of justice and is very loyal.

For such a great game I would have loved it to be longer. Especially because after playing it through many questions are left unanswered. Also the gameplay is really good but the "sometimes wacky" camera angles can lower your good mood.

Still waiting for that sequel though!

+ The graphics have remained in a good condition for such an old game
+ Lovable characters
+ Combination of everything: adventure, combat, puzzles, photographing, stealth etc
+ The beginning battle has to be in the top 10 of the most epic moments of gaming
+ The music
- A little short for such a great game
- The plot leaves more explanation to desire
- Camera can sometimes be a huge pain in the butt

Man, this game
This is more than a 3rd Person beat em up, this is a 3rd person stealth adventure racing game with collecting elements and you CAN beat people up. The story is decent, but the characters are all very loveable, especially Jade, the spunky, tough tomboy you play as. You simply CAN'T play this game correctly without going out of your way to collect photos of the great amount of fauna that litters Hillys, competing in the races, or hunting down the pearls. You can probably go through most of the game pacifistically, but you can also kill everything in sight. Personally, it gives me a very Jak and Daxter feeling, and I find it very charming. This version is kind of a pain to play though, basically, what you have to do, is turn water reflections off and WHILE you're in game, go to your task manager, go to processes, right click BGE, go to affinities, and select only one core. The way it worked for me is you had to close the task manager and turn the game off, then turn it on again. Even then, there were some issues with the framerate and sound lag. It was annoying, especially at the end when there's a lot of ♥♥♥♥ going on. But overall it's a very good game that I enjoyed nearly every second of, and I recommend it to all of you.

I first played this game when I was young, and still to this day I haven't found a game that has come close to comparing to this.

The game felt like it was ahead of its time. With the fantastic game world and atmosphere, it really pulled you back in for more. The game has such an amazing story, it's saddening that there isn't a sequel yet.

The only thing I have to complain about is the PC porting. They really could've spent more time on mastering the keyboard/mouse controls for this game, but thankfully there's fixes for them on the internet.

Beyond Good and Evil is a game you definitely don't want to pass up! One of my favourite games of all time!

Dear Michel Ancel

Now that you have finished Rayman Legends (rad game btw) and the next generation of home console are on thier way, can we possibly get to see BG&E 2 happen sometime soon?
