An action adventure game where the main focus is stealth and photography. AKA, you get to be a secret agent in a sort of steampunk-ish fantasy world under an oppressive regime, who can't fight well and has to primarily avoid combat in favour of gathering actual evidence of corruption and abuse. Roll that in with an amazing female protagonist, you have one of the best games ever made.

So why don't you own this game already? I mean seriously!? This is a wonderful action platformer with some fun stealth elements spliced together ina world full of wonder and conspiracy! It may not be the LONGEST game in the world and could def have been a few more hours but you feel satisfied when you complete it. Side missions are actually really fun and diverse and a cool plot with twists and turns. Buy it now... DO IT!

This is a great game. Strong female lead, love the stealth and photography mechanics, great story, wonderful characters. BEWARE THE PARTNER GLITCH. At certain points in the game, your tag along pal might glitch out. Rotate your saves, and DO NOT SAVE WHILE YOU ARE ALONE, because you can't get the tag along back, and you need them for progression. If at any point when you have a partner you notice them missing, reload a previous save. Other than that one minor problem, Beyond Good and Evil is an amazing game, and I'm very sad a sequel will probably never happen. ;_;

It's been about 10 years since I first started playing Beyond Good & Evil and to this /day/ I still listen to the soundtrack pretty regularly. I still look at the game play and the characters with great fondness. And I still hold my breath for the day that there might be a sequel made; one that's true to the original, at that. There aren't... words enough to express how much I love this game. Just play it; you won't be sorry.

The game is fine. Getting this version operational on a modern PC is not. I wish I had emulated the Gamecube version.

This game doesn't work for most people.

It's a great game though. Just don't buy it from Steam. GOG has a good version.

A game that is still as good as it was when it came in 2003. Maybe even better because today it's a classic.

A young woman Jade and her uncle, a boar like creature, Pey'j live in a lighthouse along with orphans whom they take care of. In the planet Hillys were they live, a war with an alien species called DomZ has raged on for many years. Ruining lives and landscape the war has taken it's toll on everybody. Despite a military organization Alpha Sections' reassurence that they will protect the citizens and push back the DomZ, everything has stayed the same. With a mission Jade receives she gets a chance to stop the war with a help of the IRIS Network, an underground rebel organization.

Beyond Good & Evil's gameplay varies and it basically has everything. Puzzle solving, combat, stealth, photographing species, adventuring and exploring, optional racing and mini games. And here's the secret: Every piece of the game, be it big or small, is enjoyable and doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Nothing seems tedious or annoying to do. Even if combat is pretty much just smashing one button it doesn't feel repetitive. Stealth is needed to take out enemies with more power than you. Puzzles are mostly figuring out how to get somewhere but it doesn't feel like they are showed down our throats. Photographing little creatures in the planet is a lovely little add.

And you just gotta love the characters! I'm not much of a fan of women in games but Jade has a great personality and is very brave. Pey'j on the other hand is the kind of uncle I would like to have myself. Double H is a soldier and has strong sense of justice and is very loyal.

For such a great game I would have loved it to be longer. Especially because after playing it through many questions are left unanswered. Also the gameplay is really good but the "sometimes wacky" camera angles can lower your good mood.

Still waiting for that sequel though!

+ The graphics have remained in a good condition for such an old game
+ Lovable characters
+ Combination of everything: adventure, combat, puzzles, photographing, stealth etc
+ The beginning battle has to be in the top 10 of the most epic moments of gaming
+ The music
- A little short for such a great game
- The plot leaves more explanation to desire
- Camera can sometimes be a huge pain in the butt

One of the best games I've ever played! The story is amazing, the characters are heartwarming, funny and it's just so much fun to get through the game. Just let me say, it actually never gets boring to play that game. And it's impossible to NOT like the characters! If you are interested in good stories, neat graphics (yeah, this game is pretty old, but the graphics are also a + for the game okay!) and funny quotes as well as some good old fighting moments, then you'll have a lot of fun with that game. I also like the environment and the slighty futuristic touch in the game! :-)

Beyond Good and Evil is one of my favorite games of all time. I jumped in not expecting much, but you gain an attachment to each of the characters and the action just blows you away. It has both combat and stealth sections, plenty of interesting puzzles, and hundreds of collectables to keep you playing. Cant wait for the second game to continue this epic saga.

This game is probably mostly known for its charm. I enjoyed it a lot when it came out, many years ago, and I bought it on Steam last time it was on sale. Although I've had to deal with several technical issues, I'm still glad I got in my library, and I look forward to a second playthrough.

I don't know who I would recommend this game to, other than old fans... However, it was very well regarded when it came out, and it still has its charm. Maybe it's a good idea to check out some gameplay clips and cutscenes before you buy it.

One the best games I've ever played, because it's filled with imaginative characters, storytelling, setting, art design and above all gameplay. While Beyond Good and Evil is brief, it packs plenty to love within its 10 or so hours. If you'll allow me a hyperbolic indulgence, I like to think this is the game Don Bluth wishes he made.

This is a beautifully designed game that holds up well to the test of time. You get treated with some cool gameplay mechanics and the game manages to be somewhere between stealth action and exploring. its a really nice mix with some great characters and a good story. If you don't mind the dated graphics its damn fun. I just recommend you to emulate a controller via XPadder because its nearly unplayable with keyboard and mouse in my opinion! and the boss design in some part is a bit strange.
