Bastion is a narrative-driven beat-em-up that will have you giggling in awe like a front-row Justin Bieber-fangirl quenching on his saliva-shower.

The mechanics are easy to learn, the weapons provide a lot of variety as you unlock them througout the campaign. There is a lot to discover on the worldmap, though the linear story encourages blazing through the game
The graphic style is easy to interpret but the fixed isometric view makes for some awkward camera angles in some maps.
The soundtrack accurately switches the mood from 'solitary sorrow' to 'button-mash till literally everything is destroyed'

There are really two reasons to buy Bastion, both of which are extremely valid.
One: The narrator sounds like Morgan Freeman Radio FM!
Two: You feel the urge to purge hunderds of weird-♥♥♥ monster hordes.

Kid writes a review, and isn't too sure what to say. Ten outa ten, best game of the year, or a fine work of art, words of praise that's hollow with no real meaning. You could say this kid wants to write about the solid gameplay, engaging story, beautiful world, amazing soundtrack, and a fine narration. But the kid knows better... The game left him feeling satisfied in the end, no one can say he had a bad time. But all phrases and words just don't cut it for the kid, so he'll leave it like this, Bastion made him happy like a Scumbag with a full stomach.

If I have to give you one good reason to buy this game, it would be the story AND the storyteller alone. I never had so much fun to listen to a story like in this game. The rest of it was of minor importance to me but still very well made. There is no reason not to buy the game.

This game was a breath of fresh of fresh air for me, Purely because of the games i played beforehand. Before this, i played several games, ALL of them Story-based. All Story, no gameplay.

This game is singificant in that the Soundtrack is beautiful, which is no surprise, but the star is an addictive gameplay AND a gripping story. And a pretty good replay value, though it's one of those 'You'll never feel the same' things after completion such as in games like Life is Strange.

I got the game on sale, so the fact i got this masterpiece for 4$ was brilliant.

Bastion is a solid 10/10 game. I knew I had to buy it right away as soon as I entered the game demo.
The narration is unique, art-style is beautiful, soundtrack is lovely. It's a fun, yet challenging game with a rich story full of charming humor and a plus for those who enjoy deep combat system games.

Bastion is an amazing game, with amazing gameplay, a great narrator, beautiful visuals, and a soundtrack so good your ears will ♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's upgrade system is good, it has very fun weapons, and overall the gameplay just feels like it's exactly how it should be. The story is very good. It is simple but creative. How is the story told? Well, as you're playing the game, it is narrated from a future point of view. This not only answers questions you have while playing the game, but it leaves you unanswered with the biggest question; To whom is the story being told? Anyways, what is the story about? You wake up, with the world around you shattered and abandoned. As you move on, it soon just seems like you're trying to just fix everything after an apocalypse. Though while you dig deeper into the game, you find out what it's really about. It's about war, and the affect it has on not just people, but on the world. The game lets you make some huge decisions, big enough to make you think "Am I doing the right thing?". It's so well put together it made me question who I was and if I knew enough to make decisions that big in real life.

The game is one of the most original titles I have ever seen. Supergiant did everything right with it.

Bastion is an interesting take on an isometric hack and slash where everything everywhere is floating, and therefore, almost everywhere is a pit.

The art is good, the narrator is good, the animations aren't bad...

I like isometric hack and slash.

I can't stand this game.
Thankfully the dev added 'windbag ranch' near the beginning so I can stop playing, write this review, and delete the game.

Your character has tiny little arms and legs, so he moves like an anthropomorphic turtle.
In order to move faster, you must roll... but rolling is hard to control.
Did I mention pits?

Windbag ranch is an arena for learning the 4th weapon of the game - a sword.
The arena is surrounded by monster spawners and turrets, the only weapon you can use is the sword.
Three turrets are floating outside the arena.
You must kill all the monsters within 60 seconds.
The monsters can fly, and half of them run away from you...

You can't kill them without throwing your sword at them (unless there's some way to fly coming later on. I doubt that)
Throwing your sword takes about 1-2 seconds, and of course it's a slow projectile... so it typically misses at range.
Add to this that you have to aim for the enemy's shadow to hit their body.
Add to this that you are slower than they are.
Add to this that it's not always clear whether you can walk on a spot or fall ...
and did I mention that there are three spawners for these monsters?

If you kill the spawners the monsters will have time to scatter - you'll never kill them all in 3 minutes if this happens.
If you don't kill the spawners... the monsters never stop spawning...

I can understand super frustrating end game challenges like chocobo racing to obtain the best sword in FF10.
This is a XP grind / training arena, and everytime I fail it I must
- shuffle over to the reset button
>confirm reset<
- watch the entire training area intro animations...

One of the levels is made almost entirely of falling platforms - there was an area I couldn't get to because as soon as went the wrong direction I couldn't go back.

This is the model for the entire game - pits and resets.
I haven't even heard enough of the story to know why I'm gathering crystals...

I'm glad the developer put windbag ranch in the game early - It probably saved me a few hours attempting to play this game.

Bastion is perhaps a very good game.

I can't stand it. Playing it is frustrating and slow for reasons I hate.

Kid comes across this game, he's intrigued but doesn't know if he wants to try. He waits.

Kid later catches the game on sale, "sure, why not?" he says.

Kid is pleasantly surprised. (Y)
