What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Early access will ensure it goes in the direction that players would like to see, as they will themselves be influencing its future course.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current plan is to leave Early Access with a full release in 2024.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version will have improvements to the AI, optimizations, be more balanced and contain more story related gameplay.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The player can interact using buttons to call lifts and to open doors and is free to wander around the environment, which is a virtual space approximately a square mile in size without the interruption of level loads. There is also a public transport system allowing the player to take flying shuttle buses between seven locations on the map, including a building on a mountain outside the settlement, using two different lines.

There are 4 robot types of varying difficulty, one of which is a drone type. There is also a spacecraft type that patrols and fires a laser at you.

You have a raygun with 3 possible upgrades. You can pickup and store grenades scattered around the environment.

You can defend using storable sentry drones that hover where placed and can fire multiple lasers at approaching enemies when activated.

The play area is mostly outdoors with a several indoor spaces and an underground area. There is an in-game menu for adjusting audio and graphics settings.

You can save your current game state at any time using save slots.

There is a lifeform that moves around the sky that you can use to increase your shield.

Due to the open nature of the game, finishing it could take the player anything from just over an hour, to several hours.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“After Early access there will be an increase in price, with the final release expected to have an increase of around 25%.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“From social media, the Steam Community and other forums.”

About This Game

You wake up in the early hours of the morning and discover that the entire population of Settlement Zero is being evacuated, except for you ...

Settlement Zero is a first-person VR adventure using free movement, an uninterrupted experience free from level loads, mixing open exploration with frantic combat and survival as you defend yourself against autonomous spacecraft and unfriendly robots.

  • A large open VR urban space for people that prefer to be able to freely move around and explore without interruptions, and want to find their own way, without having their hand held every step of the way.
  • Autonomous enemies that aren’t constrained to a single location, so no two games are ever the same.
  • A new world unlike anything you’ve seen before.
  • Exploit the lifts, terraced steps ,and suspended walkways for high ground advantage, and increase your chances of survival
  • You'll have to learn to cope with not only what is coming at you from the ground, but also what is above as spacecraft track and aim their rays at you.

Game Setting

Settlement Zero was the first ever off-world colony, established in 2084 to help ease the overpopulation crisis back on earth. Considered phenomenally successful, it became a template for the numerous settlements that followed. It is now 2109 and the colony has been abruptly terminated, for reasons unknown to you.

Explore a totally new world, but make sure you don’t let the those robots get their metal claws into you!
