Why Early Access?

“Stack Island was originally released in Early Access so that I could keep developing its content and systems while improving the game based on player feedback.
Development was paused for a while, but work has now resumed and I am preparing for the full 1.0 release.
As a 1-person developer, I have found Early Access feedback to be a huge help in identifying areas that need improvement, especially the UI, progression structure, balance, and overall gameplay experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Stack Island is currently preparing for its full 1.0 release. Development has resumed after a long break, and a major overhaul is underway ahead of the end of Early Access.
I plan to launch the full release as soon as development and testing of the overhauled version are complete.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is being substantially redesigned compared to the current Early Access build.
Planned improvements include completely new graphics, an improved UI and card control system, a redesigned exploration and progression structure, balance improvements, and refined crafting and survival systems.
The core goal remains the same: explore the island, discover and combine cards, craft what you need, overcome obstacles, and ultimately find a way to escape.
I also plan to improve the overall flow of discovery and make clues, notes, and blueprints more useful in helping players figure out possible solutions without simply giving away the answers.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build currently available is the previous version of Stack Island and does not yet include the major changes being developed for the upcoming full release.
An overhauled version with new graphics, an improved UI, and redesigned gameplay systems is currently in development.
A new free demo of the overhauled version has been released, letting you experience the 1.0 gameplay ahead of the full release.
The current Early Access build remains playable, but please note that it differs significantly from the version currently in development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may change as development progresses and Stack Island gets closer to its full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Now that Stack Island is back in development, player feedback is especially valuable.
Feedback on the new demo, card controls, UI, balance, progression structure, and overall gameplay experience helps identify issues and areas for improvement before the full release.
I read feedback through the Steam Community and other community channels. As a 1-person developer, I may not be able to implement every suggestion, but I carefully review feedback when deciding what to improve.”

In Stack Island, everything is a card. Explore new locations, gather resources, combine cards to craft useful tools, overcome obstacles, and find a way off the island.

But survival is only the beginning. Your ultimate goal is to escape.
