🌑 A Forgotten Danger Beneath the Ice

In the most inhospitable region of the world—the cursed north of Thal'Kora, where the wind cuts like blades and hope freezes in the bones—lies a dungeon sealed by the gods:
the Frozen Sepulcher, the ancient prison of Keratir, the Forbidden Dragon.

Keratir is not part of the main Nothorian story.
He does not command armies, he does not poison the dreams of the realms, nor does he appear in sacred texts...
But his existence is etched in the bowels of the world, protected by silence and the oldest magic ever invoked.

Today we present the first official teaser for this legendary being, a glimpse into the sealed chamber where his petrified body rests, suspended in a magical containment bubble.

🔥❄️ The Cursed Child of Fire and Ice

Keratir is the result of a forbidden union:
Galvarion, the fire dragon, and Lady Frost, the ice dragon—opposing and sacred deities—bonded their blood in secret, defying the balance of the cosmos.

Their offspring was an uncontrollable abomination, a being that responded neither to the will of its parents nor to the natural order of the world. Its power was so devastating, so unstable, that the horrified gods decreed its eternal confinement.

To contain it, the Frozen Sepulcher was created:
an underground chamber protected by four ancient guardians:

Vauran, the Storm's Glare

Xen'Rael, the Whisper of Time

Myrrhal, the Voice of the Abyss

Yshara, the Eternal Flame

These dragons guard the seal.
Only those who defeat them will have access to the central chamber.
And only then could Keratir's slumber end.

This teaser isn't an epic combat cinematic.
It doesn't show heroes... or glory.

It's a visual warning.
A descent into the heart of ice, where magic shudders and time bends around a creature that doesn't breathe, but dreams.

The camera focuses on the cursed pedestal, the floating orb that contains the final seal.

And there, motionless, like a statue made of bone and latent power, rests Keratir.

🧭 Optional Endgame Content

Keratir is not currently part of the main Nothorian campaign.

It is an optional challenge in the Vanila era, reserved for players who manage to traverse the most difficult areas of the base game.

The Frozen Sepulchre dungeon is only unlocked after meeting specific conditions and defeating the Four Elder Dragons in their respective sanctuaries.
Once inside, each step will bring players closer to a unique incursion:
a battle against a mythological creature, a threat with its own mechanics, without dialogue or possible redemption.

There is no loot here worth the risk.
Only those who seek to challenge the very balance of the world will wish to awaken Keratir.

We’re releasing the Pals Pack DLC publicly on Steam, and hosting an open public Beta of Online Versus for TWO WEEKS! The Pals Pack is chockfull of other content like new challenges for you and your best buds to tackle, hats, items, endless mode updates, secret new playable characters, and quality of life updates!

New Online Versus Beta!
  • A rotating game mode changes periodically; however, this can be changed on the character select screen (with the exception of ranked)
  • Standard: Regular Matchmaking, fight a random player!
  • Ranked: Ranked matchmaking, gain/lose rank with each battle and fight players of similar rank. In ranked both players use the same seed.
  • Friends: Invite a friend and fight it out!
  • Customization: Select a custom frame, banner and a style of junk blocks! You can also select up to four emotes to use in online matches.
  • VS Stats: Track your winrate, favourite characters and more!
  • VS mods: If both you and your opponent have the same mods enabled, they can be synced for online play!
  • Note: Mods need to be downloaded from the Steam Workshop to work
New Versus Modes
Race: First to complete three stages wins!
  • Gem Haul: First to earn 30,000 gems wins!
  • Item Craze: Survival, way more items spawn
  • Volleybomb: Juggle a giant bomb while clearing your board. If the bomb touches the opponent’s board, you earn a point! First to three points wins.
  • Marathon: Survival, units spawn in waves.
  • Legendary: Survival, with units and hazards form the Legendary Path
  • Random: A random game mode will be selected each game.
Chester’s Choice
  • A setting in Versus that has Chester choose a random game settings to activate each battle!
New Versus Items
  • Warping Glass: Teleport units around you towards the opponent’s board.
  • Freezer: Freezes the opponent’s board for 7 turns and the player for 5 turns.
  • Wobble Wand: For 10 turns, the opponent inputs are inverted.
  • Slamvil: Throws a giant anvil to the opponent.
  • Wand of Junk: Transform an entire row on the opponent’s board into junk blocks.
  • Cube of Zorix: Shoots a laser horizontally on both boards. Deals damage to players.
Versus Changes
  • CPU improvements
  • CPU now has a level 10 difficulty (that blatantly cheats)
  • “Shuffle All” is now the default level setting. Stage order is fully randomized and its difficulty is adjusted for how early/late the stage is in a match. The music for the match will be that of the first stage.
  • Junk now scales with the gem meter. Chains send more junk with each bar of gem meter.
  • Exit door now sends 4 junk instead of 8; however, it sends an additional 4 junk per stage ahead of the opponent.
New Custom Hat presets
  • You can now create and save your own custom presets for your favourite hats! Pick up to 12 different hats per preset, equip them all with the press of a button and label them with their own preset names.
New Hats
  • Question Hark: Random units spawn occasionally.
  • Monster Hat: Transform into a monster.
  • Dungstalker: Beetos spawn everywhere.
  • Grass Hopper: Move two tiles at a time.
  • Plain Cap: The UI is gone.
  • Extrovert Hat: Can’t attack loner foes or blocks.
Updated Endless Mode
  • You can now set the starting loop for endless mode from the hub. This will only affect the endless route and not other game modes (to do that, you can go into Settings -> Adventure)
  • After loop 1, you’ll be able to meet Chester in Plains even after reaching the relic limit. This works until you amass 32 or more relics.
  • When skipping loops, Chester will provide you an assortment of relics to choose from to give you a head start.
  • Loop difficulty changes:
    - Loop 1: Legendary units may show up
    - Loop 2: Legendary hazards and big units may show up.
    - Loop 3: Legendary units, big units and hazards show up more frequently. Future loops increase this chance.
    - Random units start showing up rarely, increasing slightly in frequency each loop.
    - Durability slightly decreases each loop starting on loop 5.
    - One less chest each stage starting on loop 10.
    - HP scales more on loops beyond 10.
Changes
  • Prism Knight’s clones spawn with one more HP.
  • Scrap Knight B no longer teleports units around if she moves after tossing her bag.
  • Knights now have a waiting animation while fast-forwarding.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed King Knight’s bash didn’t deal damage when bashing water tiles.
  • Fixed Shield Knight B wouldn’t recover her shield after defeating the Enchantress

Hello everyone
Weekly Update (07/02) - WASD, Claim Supply Balance

We are pleased to post the changes for our first weekly update. We hope there is something exciting in here for everyone. Please be aware that just because something is not in here doesn't mean we aren't prioritizing it or working on it. We have a lot more improvements and fixes in development that we are eager to ship as soon as they are ready!

The server changes will be live as of the time of posting (no restart needed). The game client changes are currently live on the preview branch (steam beta) which will require a restart of the game to update to the latest version if you are already on it in-game. You might need to restart steam for this update to become visible. The plan is to publish the preview to the main steam branch (no beta/preview) tomorrow. It's up to you if you want to try it out today or wait.

The headliner of this week is definitely the addition of a new controls preset - WASD Character movement!

This is by no means a perfect implementation of WASD, but it's a cleaned up version of the one we had tested internally which I had mentioned before. We have countless more improvements we will be adding to it if it proves popular, but we opted to get what we had out to you this week than hold it back longer.

The other major change is the disabling of the temporary claim supply drain reduction. As a note, you will find that the drain is cheaper than it was prior to the temporary change for small claims (<=2000 tiles) and higher for very large claims (>3000 tiles), if you find the drain is too high, you might consider downsizing your claim or using some of the coins in your treasury to buy supplies from players using your claim.

Notable Changes include:
  • Added several new hair colors (Blonde default for new characters and several colorful options from the Twins, more to come in future updates)
  • Added some new elixirs crafted by Scholar that can be used while crafting and gathering for more active effects
  • Added new pavement options for every tier
  • Increased Monster and Huntable animal protected time from 10s -> 60s
  • More than doubled the chance of obtaining crop oil when processing starbulb plants
  • You can now see the tier of a settlement by right clicking it on the map (more info will be added in a future update)
  • Several fixes with marketplace UX including allowing to list many cargo, smarter default prices and ability to see stuff being bought without having it in your inventory and jumping directly to create order screen when no orders exist.
  • You now gain EXP for sailing or riding mounts (the amount is small for now to gauge feedback and test without disrupting the meta too much)
  • Updated the way quests track objective to make it easier to re-track an objective (should solve case where temple isn't marked)
  • Fixed carts and mounts not being able to move in the swamp
  • You can now edit marketplace orders again
  • You can now context menu on a player target or chat message and mute a player without reporting them

Other Changes:
  • Minor performance improvement to the FPS drop when opening or closing the map (we are working on a larger fix for this asap)
  • Pet owls will now sing and sleep when idle
  • Added a Map icon for Alesi's hideout
  • Reduced FPS drop when crossing chunk boundaries
  • AFK disconnect now takes you back to login screen instead of closing the game
  • Fixed an issue on MacOS that would result in a pink/brown screen
  • Added the ability to skip specific quests in onboarding (instead of skipping all)
  • When purchasing from a shop, the cost amount now updates for quantities >1
  • Added a few new Travelers tasks
  • Add icons for many missing vault clothing
  • Frenzied fish no longer will despawn until their frenzy time is up
  • Updated animations for shortsword attacks
  • Updated Svim's Ocean fish tasks to be worth more coins
  • Fixed some issues with pavings flickering or having seams between them
  • Removed many items which are not obtainable from showing in the marketplace buy list UI
  • Updated the actions of a few more crafting recipes (gem fragments, pigment)
  • T1 Fiber bushes are now flattenable (can be paved or built over without removing them)
