OK, 'patch notes' don't quite cover it, but here we go anyway. Let's start with the good stuff, the things more 'player friendly'. Hehe, sure.

New Buffs -n- Stuff
  1. Invulnerability

    The Invulnerability does just what it says, for a short while you will trigger no trap OR BUFF and no mobile (wolves, zombies, etc) will track you. In fact, if you are being tracked, this will clear that and let you go on in peace.

  2. Omniscience

    The Omniscience buff will show you where all of the hazards are at, at least the non-obvious ones. This is a HUGE buff because sawblades, spears and such become MUCH harder to miss. The hazards icon looks like this...

  3. Status Icons

    Currently only Invulnerability and Omniscience get status icons, but now the system is in place and making more icons will be easier. They do also show remaining duration via a sweep-style animation.

  4. Warning Screen

    Playtesters were getting frustrated by the difficulty level of the overall game. We could have made it easier, but nah, let's put up a warning instead. :) Also, there is data in the lower left about how many traps vs buffs were spawned. You might think this would help you, but testing revealed that this actually made despair set in quicker. LoL.

Hmmm thought that list might be longer... oh well. Now on to new ways to die...

New Hazards
  1. Pit Trap

    Who doesn't love a deep pit wherein you are invited to plummet to your death? This is one of the few hazards that doesn't have a tell. Step lightly? Maybe? I dunno. Above is a player testing out the gravity in the maze. It still worked.

  2. Mimic Trap

    Ahhh mimics. Whatever deranged sicko came up with this idea? It looks nice, it looks like something you want... but nope. It's actually icing-coated death and dismemberment. Hate mimics, hate whomever came up with them. Oh, and I put them in this game. Pics? That would take ALL the fun out of it. Enjoy!

  3. Block

    Because a static unchanging maze is soooo boring. The Contessa said, and I quote, "That's so 1700's, dear." Therefore we give you the Block. It just teleports to new locations, taking a nice, gentle tour of the maze. Every few seconds a new location. It won't kill you, it won't even spawn in on top of you. But, on the off chance that you are being hunted by something it can damn sure make getting away a little challenging... like so...

  4. Alarm Trap

    Hahaha, love this. I mean everyone knows that laser tripwires always mean fun and excitement. For someone. Probably not you, but someone's laughing.

And of course, bug fixes:
  1. Ragdoll Dance - After a few minutes the score-keeping ragdolls would start to jitter all over the screen, VERY distracting. They've been given a good scolding and should sit much more still.

  2. Edge case for double-killing the player - As much as the Contessa enjoyed a good double-killing from time-to-time, playtesters were less cool with it. So we fixed it. Spoilsport playtesters.

  3. No/Few Traps spawned - On smaller maps there could be as few as ZERO traps spawned. The Contessa was not happy with this so we fixed it. If the boss ain't happy, no one's happy.

  • Added art to the waterfall top in the Sanctum.

Bug Fixes
  • Prefab densities for retrofitted Lunar Islands, Lunar Grotto, and Fumarole biomes will now properly be populated.
    • This means world regrowth will properly work within these areas.
    • This fix has also been applied onto already existing retrofits of these areas.
  • Fixed Abigail's flower missing its inventory images for the Swashbuckler skin.
  • Fixed Wormwood's Survivor skin missing various leaves.
  • Fixed some grey art popping through some Primal skins.
  • Fixed Wendy's Swashbuckler head skin having a black skirt.
  • Fixed Wendy's Read's Rags missing the bracelets.
  • Fixed a crash for when mods remove the Chasm in the Sanctum.
  • Fixed being unable to place bridges in the Lunar Grotto retrofit and certain parts of the Lunar Grotto.
  • Fixed Wandering Trader appearing right next to the first player in the world at the Florid Postern.
  • Fixed bug with Terramites becoming invisible when reskinned while floating on water.
  • Fixed bug with Shadow Creatures and Gestalts causing pillars to collapse in the Sanctum puzzle room.

Hey all! Just wanted to show a couple things we've been working on for the next build.

New Chapter 4:

Embark on a quest that takes Amelia near and around Exodus to meet Hans and Fritz, a father and son duo of scientists. With their help, Amelia prepares the search for Susan, the second magical girl to join GARDA. This chapter explores the nature of reality, magic, and fragments of humanity's distant past.





This chapter is being developed alongside a fairly large rework of the story for Mahou Arms, so we're making changes to other chapters that are already in the game as well. The Rockefallen chapter will also be re-numbered to Chapter 5 as this is the new Chapter 4.

Chapter 6:
Chapter 6 is Susan's introductory chapter, taking place in the whole new map of Siberia. We've shown WIP shots of the environment in the past and we haven't stopped working on the area since. It is probably the largest area in the game so far and it is a place we will return to later. There is also a section where you play as Camila in the dropship raining death from above.




Individual Health Bars:


Enemy health bars are no longer restricted to your locked-on target. Any enemy with damage dealt to them now have a health bar show up until they are killed or leave combat range.

Scanner Upgrade:


he Scan Utility Skill now shows more objects through walls, giving it more utility. Interactable items, chests, elevators, and other objects will show up briefly through walls when this skill is used. Decorative rings have also been added.

Courier Drones:



Courier drones have been scattered throughout the map (their model is a work in progress). When shot down, these drop a chest on the ground with items that can be collected. They're usually in places you wouldn't expect to look.

Chests:



Most of the pickups in the world have been replaced with animated chest models. I'm particularly fond of the red one that inflates and explodes.

This is just the work in progress we feel is presentable. Unlisted work in progress includes story stuff we don't want to reveal yet for spoiler reasons, optimizations, bugfixes, and more.

Starting Friday, September 19, the game supports Cloud Saves. This lets you carry your data across multiple PCs (e.g., if you play on two computers).

If you use more than one PC, we recommend this flow:

Launch the game on the PC that has the data you want to keep.

Play for a short while to sync the save to the cloud.

Then launch and play on the other PC to pull the data down.

Massive UI Overhaul

It took a lot of work, but we finally made it so you can use your mouse to navigate throughout the entirety of Beat Banger! Gone are the days of not being able to use your mouse to navigate the menu! We've also improved the way controllers work on menus.  

We've also given the main menu a new look featuring Zoe. We'll soon be adding more characters to the main menu, and we hope to have more creative and interactive interfaces in the future!

We've also completely overhauled the hot menu to be more mouse-friendly and less intrusive. A few options from the old menu are missing, such as the glyph override control; however, we'll add them back shortly.

Rank and (S)EXP

Beat Banger now includes tracked experience value, which gives you a title for being the best Beat Banger around. This value unlocks things gradually throughout the game, as well as provides a mechanism for unlocking content in later updates, such as secret levels and character interactions that wouldn't be possible otherwise.
