Hello! This is Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan.
Today, we’ll be unveiling our latest Ratatan trailer during Day of the Devs!
Not only that, but we’re also happy to announce that the Early Access version of the game is scheduled to launch on Steam on July 25, 2025.



Ratatan began with the support of our Kickstarter backers, and has been developed by a small and passionate indie team.
The journey hasn’t been easy, with a ton of challenges along the way, but thanks to the feedback we received through our closed alpha and beta tests, especially from our backers, we’ve finally reached a stage where we can bring the game to a wider audience!

We’ve chosen to release Ratatan into Early Access because we want to involve even more players in shaping the final game.
We believe that gathering broad feedback is essential to help us improve the stability of online multiplayer, fine-tune game balance and difficulty, and enhance overall usability—including controls, flow, and playability.

The Early Access version will feature all of the game’s worlds and bosses, all eight playable Ratatans, and many additional features not included in the demo.
We also plan to continue adding new content and functionality during the Early Access period.
A detailed roadmap is currently in the works, and we aim to share it around the end of July.

While Ratatan inherits the spirit of Patapon, it is a completely original title designed to deliver a new kind of experience.
As a game created by Hiroyuki Kotani, there is deep respect for the Patapon legacy, but we want Ratatan to stand on its own—as a fresh and modern take on rhythm and strategy.
To those expecting a direct sequel to Patapon, some elements may differ from what you anticipate, but we hope to offer something truly unique, built around community engagement and continuous evolution.

As we move into Early Access, we’re more committed than ever to listening closely to your voices and shaping Ratatan together with you.

《Herb Seek Slash》Demo version is now available! There are three main stages in the Demo version, it covers about 30% content of the full version.

Please feel free to try and give some suggestions, I will take reference and improve my game.

If you have played the Demo version before this announcement, there are some updates in the latest version:

  1. The beginning narrative is changed.

  2. Change in the beginning flow:

    In the previous version, Ethan had to talk to Vedia before he could go out >>

    This part is skipped in the latest version, will enter the Forest Stage just after the beginning narrative. (That's why the narrative is changed.)

  3. Key remainder added to the weapon and held item UI in battle.

  4. Damage text will pop up with larger size and then shrink.

  5. "Gain Ability Points" notice displayed when first clearing a stage.

  6. Change in fonts in most of the UIs, tutorials

  • Fixed a bug where using a growth potion on an NPC while they were being followed would prevent the transformation from processing correctly.

  • Fixed an issue where changing skin color in the title screen edit mode also changed the nipple color to match the skin

  • Adjusted H-scenes (Young Man x Underground Woman, Young Man x Large-Built Woman) to properly include pregnancy chance

  • Fixed incorrect positioning of UI elements such as building move and dismantle buttons

  • Fixed a bug where workshop item images were not displayed correctly when the quality setting was set to “Middle” or lower

  • Fixed a bug where the durability of the weapon "Shuriken" was not displayed
