GGS is still, albeit slow, still under development.

Outside of the store page, we haven't really shared much about what GGS is about, so here's a rundown:
  • Goofy Goober Simulator (We'll refer to it as GGS Classic) was a small top down one-screen shooter filled entirely with placeholder art. Our lead programmer found it funny, and tinkered with it to be a bit larger scale, which became the first build of GGS.
  • GGS has gone through, what, roughly 5 distinct major builds so far, with the steam release being the latest. This build is hopefully close to the true potential of the original GGS classic, while remaining in its original engine. That original engine is, uh, Turbowarp*.
  • While Turbowarp is *excellent*, especially in its modding capabilities, it's MUCH harder to make something compared to Unity or Unreal, leading to a much lower scope than originally planned (one previous build was a objective based shooter closer to DOOM, but that quickly fell through.)
  • To stay true to its roots, we will be remaining in Turbowarp for the rest of GGS's lifetime. Don't get your hopes up, lol.
  • Oh, and this is a rage game. this is going to be difficult. good luck.

    This is, at the end of the day, a passion project, and thus isn't a full priority, BUT we've still been cooking up some features!

    Since the store page was set up, we've...
    • Finished the level route, start to finish
    • Ported features from the original GGS Classic
    • Added a handful of weapons and items
    • Filled (almost) every level with a fair variety of Little Guys that want to bite your hand off
    • Finished... some kind of plot...
    • Worked on polishing as much as we can to brush off the rougher edges
    • Implemented Steam Achievements

    it's certainly something. we hope you all call this game "something" too. in fact, one could even call this game "really Something".

    .....When's this coming out? Uh expect sometime around

As we approach the early access release, I want to share with you the updates I've made based on all the valuable feedback you provided throughout the demo period. I've listened closely to your suggestions and made changes to enhance the gameplay experience, making it more enjoyable and immersive. All of these updates will be available in the early access release.

Major Updates 🚨
👥 NPC Updates: The NPC mechanics on the map have been completely revamped. A total of 22 new NPCs have been added, and they can now interact with their surroundings. Be careful when driving , as NPCs can be run over!

🏢 Custom Vending Machine Branding: The panel on top of the vending machines has been improved. You can now design your own company name and logo and see it on your vending machines.

🏦 Bank System: The bank feature has been added to the game. Now, in tough situations, you can take out a loan to progress faster. But beware , make sure to check your daily repayments before taking out a loan!

📘 Tutorial Menu: 💻 You can now access all useful information about the game via the Tutorial Menu on the computer.

New Features and Improvements 🆕

  • 🖥️ Main Menu Animation: A small but charming animation has been added when entering the main menu.
  • 🗺️Early Access Roadmap: An early access roadmap that you can follow in the game has been added.
  • 🔘 Main Menu Button Update: The buttons in the main menu have been resized to prevent text overflow.
  • 💡 Vehicle Lights: Vehicle lights can now be assigned to a button and can be turned on or off as needed.
  • 📋 Quest Tracking UI: A detailed quest UI has been added to the top left corner to make tracking quests easier.
  • 🛠️Vending Machine Selling Feature:You can now sell your vending machines for a slightly lower price than you purchased them for.
  • 🌐 Language and Translation Fixes: Translation errors in English and other languages have been fixed.
  • 🚗 Vehicle Driving Mechanic: The driving mechanics have been reworked to provide a more stable and realistic driving experience.
  • 🖥️ Resolution Restriction Removed: You can now play the game in any resolution supported by your graphics card.
  • 🖌️ General UI Improvements: Various adjustments have been made to the user interface.
  • ↕️ Misaligned Products: Some misaligned products inside the vending machines have been fixed.

Economy Updates 💰

I've made significant adjustments to the economy system. My goal is to make the game more realistic and enjoyable at the same time. Just like in real businesses, the more time you invest, the more profit you can make! Here are the updates in this context:

  • 💳 Loans: When you're in a tough spot or want to progress faster, you can take out a loan.
  • 🏷️ Vending Machine Prices: Vending machine prices have been increased.
  • 🔓 Vending Machine Unlock Levels: The levels required to unlock vending machines have been changed.
  • 💰Starting Money: You now start the game with $650.
  • 🎯 Level and XP Balance: Early levels have been made slightly more challenging, but overall progress has been made easier.
  • 💲 Product Prices: Product prices have been adjusted. As you level up, you'll be able to buy and sell more expensive products.
  • 🍲 Hot Food Vending Machine: The capacity of hot food vending machines has been increased to 60 products, reducing the need for constant refilling.
  • 📍 Vending Machine Location Rent: The daily rent for vending machine locations has been slightly increased.
  • ⚙️ Vending Machine Failures and Attacks: The rate at which vending machines fail or get attacked has been reduced, so you won't need to monitor them as frequently. 🤕
  • ⏳ Game Day Duration: The game day has been extended, giving you more time to work and pay the next day's bills.
  • 🏠 Daily House Rent: Daily house rent bills will now be due.
