I am happy to announce that Version 1.2 of "Yet Another Killing Game" is now available! This upcoming MAJOR update includes a highly requested feature: ACHIEVEMENTS~ It also has a massive range of fixes and improvements based on feedback and observational data collected over the past few months (see them all in the update notes further down this announcement!)

About Achievements

Fans of YAKG will know that this game has many, MANY hidden details and secrets, and our hope with the Achievement system is that it will guide players who've already reached the ultimate truth to seek out other truths they may have missed!

The Achievements screen can be accessed from anywhere in the game! ALSO, if you have cleared the full game, each locked Achievement will give you a little hint as to how to unlock it! Are you up to the challenge of finding all 60 (that's right, six-zero!) Achievements and becoming an epic KILLING gamer?!

  • NEW FEATURE: Achievements! Discover 60 Achievements throughout the full version of Yet Another Killing Game! (Achievements are unavailable in the demo version.)

  • STEAM VERSION ONLY: Achievements will also unlock their equivalents in Steam Achievements! Collect special icons for your Steam profile!

  • New tutorial added: “Choice Menus”

  • While playing on Gamepad, you can now hide the UI by clicking the left or right sticks

  • Fixed a bug with the music info tab being erroneously read by accessibility features while it is hidden

  • Fixed a bug with text related to Investigations not being read by accessibility features

  • Investigations can now be ended by a choice menu before reaching 100% Investigation Progress

  • Updated the tooltip for “Use Ren’Py Features”

  • Updated the icon names for quick menu buttons while “Use Ren’Py Features” is active

  • Added “LOAD” to the quick menu while “Use Ren’Py Features” is active

  • In Gallery, the title screen no longer appears behind when viewing large background images

  • Improved the visual clarity for certain endings’ screens

  • Updated the background visuals for the final version of the credits

WARNING ABOUT SAVE DATA

Due to some script changes, some save files you made in V1.1 (or earlier) of the demo or full game MAY not load correctly (i.e. crash, show an error message, return you to the Title Screen). As such...

IF YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH, we strongly recommend creating multiple save files and/or finishing your playthrough BEFORE you update to V1.2! If worst comes to worst, please start a new game and utilize the skip features in Config to catch yourself up. Sorry for any inconveniences!

Dear Chieftains,

To provide a better gaming experience, the server will undergo maintenance. It will be temporarily unavailable starting from June 12, at 7:00 AM UTC, with an expected downtime 30 minutes. After losing the target during Quality Assessment, the interface will now close after a short delay.

Building upgrade tasks now allow tribesmen to interchangeably upgrade Blackstone and Nightstone structures.

Adjusted shortcut bar to correct size.

Optimized the quality descriptions in the Auto Uncraft and Repair interfaces to avoid misunderstandings.

Fixed character name logging error when retrieving items from a chest while mounted.

Fixed an issue where tribesmen would mistakenly install blades on the bottom of the windmill.

Fixed an issue where arrow traps would not decay over time.

Fixed spawn location errors for barbarian invaders in Rift Valley mines.

Added keybinding options for the Domestication interface in game settings.

Fixed incorrect icons for bronze and steel roadblocks.

Fixed an issue where tribesmen might store items in distant storage boxes when managing a crafting table.

Fixed an issue where durability cost modifiers did not affect mining tools at Power Mine.

Optimized the collision of the horned eagle aviary model, where entry and exit are now only possible through the door.

Fixed incorrect weapon defense animations after riding the ropeway.

Fixed an issue where tribesmen were unable to upgrade the quadrilateral pointed roof, half-height quadrilateral pointed roof, and spiral staircase.

The Power Ropeway Supply Station now displays the inventory quantity of the target station.

Fixed the issue enabling construction placement while mounted.

Fixed a visibility issue where the Golden Legend Mimicry model, Rising Moon, and other skins would obstruct the view when drawing a great bow.

Fixed major bug from a recent patch that made travelling impossible because new characters started out in Major Battle mode (thanks to an email report).

Finished the end-game slides and added 5 new achievements. Also, there is now an "Easy Mode" that removes the hunger mechanics but also disabled achievements.

Plus a few other tweaks and minor bug fixes.

Complete list of changes:

-New Achievements: Anarchy, Propagandist, Andresi Rescued, Lizardfolk Friend, Pigfolk Partner.

-Finished Ch.5 endgame slides (Companion relationships and Quinn's Plot rep).

-Added Easy Mode option to character creation to disable the Hunger mechanic.

-Fixed sprite position when waking from unconscious status during dialogue.

-New rooftop objects around Noble District roof edges to fix draw priority.

-Amulet of the Self now makes wearer immune to mental effects.

-Added a few Potions of Attunement to Jadenbury in Ch.5.

-Added some aged mobiles and sprites for Ch.6.

-Improved death script of Gazer monsters.

-Updated all manuals.

- Fixed an issue that caused players to get stuck on the server connection screen when creating an online room after a network disconnect, even if the connection was restored.

- Fixed an issue where low controller stick sensitivity could prevent proper emote wheel selection.

- Fixed an issue where multiple UI layers would stack incorrectly in [Battle for Meowtopia] under certain conditions.

- Fixed an issue where Player 2's missile launcher interactions wouldn't trigger popups in online co-op.

1.Balance Adjustments and Improvements
  • The log message "Smash!" will now also appear when bonus modifiers are applied to damage dealt by attack spells.

  • Damage numbers are now displayed when taking damage, and healing amounts are shown when recovering (except when using items).

  • Hovering over a Class icon will now show the Class name.

  • Various other improvements have been implemented.

2.Bug Fixes

The following bugs/issues have been fixed:

  • Fixed an issue where some new spells were not interacting correctly with the Parrot Turret's reflection.

  • Fixed a bug in command battles where clicking the area of a defeated enemy group would still allow selection after choosing a spell.

  • Fixed various minor bugs to improve the overall experience.
