Hey and hello!

Wow - aaand another week has begun! That went quickly.

So let's get started - welcome to a new dev update! There's a lot going on here right now. As you know, the new demo is coming soon, and I want it to give you the best possible insight into the game. That's why I've spent the last few days polishing up a whole bunch of different parts of the game.

One of the best new features, in my opinion, is a dialogue that you can now access while camping. Here, the three heroes chat a bit about their journey and what's on their minds. This adds a nice twist to camping, in addition to cooking. So it's worth pitching your tents every now and then to listen to the three heroes' conversations!

I've also taken care of a bunch of little things, so the same level no longer appears twice in a row in the labyrinth dungeons. This also applies to random encounters, where the same groups are no longer drawn twice. In addition, there are finally sprites for the keyboard input hints, so the input hints now look much more consistent.

I'm going to keep testing, testing, testing, so you can try out the demo of Crystals Of Irm for yourselves soon! I'm really looking forward to finally showing you the whole thing.

You wouldn’t stop asking, so we stopped dodging Molotovs and wrote it all down.POSTAL 2 Redux is real, it’s running in Unity, and yes—your unhinged demands absolutely helped make this mess happen. Below is the full FAQ: what Redux actually is, why we’re doing it this way, how VR fits, exactly when you’ll be “hosing down” Paradise in higher fidelity, and what fresh hell unlocks when our pre‑launch follower numbers spike.

Mike J's New Moves / Hair and Beard:

It's said there are two certainties in life. One is taxes and the other is that Mike J will bust a move when you piss on him. No Redux of POSTAL 2 would be complete without teaching him some new moves. And what better way to show them off but with hair and a beard the latest graphical technology 2025 has to offer. Get it all wet!

POSTAL 4 Outfit:

2003 Trenchcoat-chique is always in fashion. But sometimes the dude wants to kick back in his favourite dressing gown. Unlockable POSTAL 4 outfit is yours for the mere price of following the campaign.

Steamworks Support:

We often hear "you suck, I could do better". After we've given Mom her sleeping pills we have to admit she had a point. Hitting this goal adds Steamworks support into Redux. Dream my beautiful modders!

Super-Fun Pigeon Hunter Mission:

The Pigeons Will Pay.  You asked. You begged. Many a shrine made of bird bones was pissed on. Now we're finally bringing the Super-Fun Pigeon Hunter Mission to life for real this time. Vince screamed at the accountants, so we got new accountants. Deaf accountants. Nothing can stop this happening other than not hitting this follower goal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you making this when POSTAL 4 isn’t done?

POSTAL 2 Redux is being made (Team Beef) and published (Impact Inked) externally, so it has no effect on Running With Scissors’ internal projects. 

Why a remake when the original is “perfect”?

We started this journey because we’re fans. Hardcore POSTAL fans. POSTAL 2 has a place in our hearts (and hard drives), and we believe it deserves a place on every modern console too. This isn’t simply a port to modern consoles. It’s preservation with purpose. We're keeping everything you love intact. Wherever we enhance or improve, we do so with the original in mind. With Running With Scissors by our side, one thing’s certain: it’s still POSTAL. It’s still the Dude.

Will there be localized dubs?

We’re aiming for as many languages as possible. There are some wrinkles to iron out with older dubs, and possibilities for new ones—more news to follow.

Regional restrictions?

We’re aware of issues in Germany, New Zealand, and a few other regions. We have plans to give Redux the best chance everywhere, but final approval rests with regional authorities. We cannot guarantee that POSTAL 2 VR and POSTAL 2 Redux will ultimately be available everywhere, but we can guarantee that we will fight to give players worldwide access to the game.

Multiplayer / Co-op?

Potential stretch-goal territory, but doesn’t feel like POSTAL if you can’t cross streams with your friends. 

What does “Redux” mean—remaster, remake, or what?

Redux moves the game into Unity. We start with original assets and logic, then upgrade, replace, and add brand-new content that’s not present in the original game. Fear not. It’s still POSTAL 2… just Reduxed. 

Will Rick Hunter’s original lines return? New lines? 

Rick Hunter may have some new lines.

Release window?

Targeting 2026. Exact timing depends on development and stretch-goal scope.

Censorship?

If we don’t have to change it, we won’t. Platform holders may request tweaks, but PC will remain uncensored. We’re confident we can reach every major storefront with minimal edits.

Platforms - Xbox? Seriously? PS5? PS4? Switch 2? Mobile?

Our aim is to provide POSTAL 2 Redux on every possible platform. For more details, follow the Kickstarter! ;)

How are VR and Redux Different? 

To clarify, this Kickstarter funds a single product: POSTAL 2 Redux. However, both Redux and the VR version will share a common core, meaning improvements will benefit both flat-screen and VR simultaneously. If you're only interested in the VR version, note that any stretch goals achieved through this campaign will also apply to it. That said, unlike POSTAL 2 Redux, the release of POSTAL 2 VR is not contingent on the success of this Kickstarter.

Building them in tandem leads to smarter development: shared gameplay improvements, more efficient and wider testing, and better polish across the board.  We're also looking into the most cost-effective way for backers to own both, if they choose to. We’ll share more information as we get closer to launch.

Will the original be delisted?

No.

Why Unity?

Unity is the ideal engine for a multi-platform remaster because it offers powerful cross-platform support, letting us target PC, consoles, and even mobile from a single code-base. Its customizable art pipelines and shader systems allow us to faithfully recreate the original game’s look or enhance it with modern touches, while giving artists direct control over visual fidelity. With flexible tooling, fast iteration, and support for both legacy-style visuals and modern rendering features, Unity strikes the perfect balance between preservation and progress.

When to expect more info?

Click “Follow” on the Kickstarter pre-launch page to get every update the moment it drops this summer.

What content ships day-one? DLC? Extra missions?

This will scale with Kickstarter performance and stretch goals. Stay tuned.

Will Mike J still dance if you piss on him?

If history is any indicator, nothing can stop Mike J from busting a move whilst taking a golden shower! Maybe he’s learned some new moves. Only time will tell. 

Will the game support modding / SteamWorks?

We love modding. Some members of the development teams started their professional careers as modders (as did RWS staff). More information will be shared soon, but stretch goals could bring official mod support to both PC and consoles!

Will existing owners of POSTAL 2 get Redux for FREE?!

POSTAL 2 Redux is a huge joint effort between Running With Scissors, Team Beef, and Impact Inked, so owning a copy of the original game does not get you a free copy. We’re pouring every ounce of love (and bodily fluid) we have into POSTAL 2 Redux to make sure it's as beloved as the original and worth every penny.

Hail, warriors!

It’s been a while since our last update, but we’re finally back with great news: the long-awaited Major Update is set to drop this week!

First and foremost, a massive thank you to all of you for your incredible support, your patience, and for sticking with us while we battled through some tough terrain (on more than just the battlefield). This update took longer than expected, and we want to be upfront: we ran into a handful of very tricky obstacles during the complete rework of the Warpaint system, and alongside the usual coding chaos, we also had to deal with a couple of health-related setbacks along the way. But we’re happy to say: we’re doing better, we’re back on track, and we’re still working our axes off to bring Asgard’s Fall to life.

This upcoming update is a big one. The Warpaint system has been completely overhauled to offer deeper customization and even more brutal strategic options for your Viking runs. It’s all part of making every fall (and rise) in the Nine Realms even more thrilling.

We’re really looking forward to dropping the update later this week and seeing what you think. Until then: sharpen your blades, ready your shields, and stay tuned.
