Though access to the forthcoming Duke Nukem Forever demo was originally planned to be included for those that purchased the Borderlands Game of the Year Edition, users are finding demo keys linked to their Steam accounts if they had purchased the game before October 12.

Duke Nukem Forever
To check and see if you have a key, find Borderlands in your Steam Library and click the "CD Key" link in the game pane. If you've got the key, it should show up as "Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club Code". It can be redeemed here, though the demo is not yet available.

Read our impressions of Duke Nukem Forever from PAX 2010 while you wait for the demo to drop.

The fourth DLC pack for Borderlands is coming on September 28 for $10, but we've got some new screenshots for you while you wait. The pack is 'Claptrap's New Robot Revolution' and will revolve around those robotic scamps from the original game.

It will also raise the level cap to 69 and re-balance the game around this new ceiling. "More than 20 new missions" with "tons of fresh enemies to blast through, including original boss battles, waves of homicidal Claptraps, well-armed Hyperion soldiers, and local creatures that have been Claptrap-ified - including crab-traps, rakk-traps and skag-trapps" will be included.

Three in-game screenshots along with two propaganda posters (one seen above).

Those that haven't purchased Borderlands might consider waiting for the Game of the Year Edition, which will be released on October 12 and include Claptrap's New Robot Revolution along with the previous three DLC packs.

A patch for Borderlands will raise its level cap and rebalance the shooter RPG accordingly, developer Gearbox explained during PAX panel attended by Joystiq.

The free patch for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will raise the level cap to the hilarious number of 69 and, in the words of Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, "rebalance the original game around the level cap."

The level cap was previously raised to 61 in the paid downloadable content 'The Secret Armory of General Knoxx,' a move Pitchford explained Gearbox did not want to repeat otherwise "you'd have to buy every previous DLC" for the new cap and rebalancing.

The patch will apparently be released around the launch of Borderlands' DLC-packed Game of the Year edition, which is scheduled for October 12.

Another downloadable content pack, 'Claptrap's New Robot Revolution,' is also in the works. According to Game Informer, the $10 pack is due out on September 28.

Gearbox has just announced what many had already assumed (or hoped), Borderlands will get a "Game of the Year" re-release with its multiple downloadable content releases included, very soon.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition will land in stores on October 12 on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. The PC version retails for $49.99, while the console versions will ring in at $59.99.

"Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" and "Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot"

The package is set to include a "token" for the upcoming downloadable content Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, as well as the all previous downloadable content released.

Currently, each DLC package is priced at $10, on each respective platform. Presumably the previous DLC released--The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx--are included on the retail disc.

As an added bonus, the re-release includes a "complete and comprehensive map of the Borderlands territories."

Borderlands players will get to blast away the shooter RPG's chipper Claptrap robots, developer Gearbox and publisher 2K Games announced today, when the new downloadable content 'Claptrap's New Robot Revolution' is released in September.

Our four intrepid heroes will team up with the Hyperion Corporation in the DLC to take on "the ever-amassing army of homicidal Claptraps led by one of the most eagerly awaited characters in the franchise's history--the cunning Ninja Assassin," they reveal.

"More than 20 new missions" are promised with "tons of fresh enemies to blast through, including original boss battles, waves of homicidal Claptraps, well-armed Hyperion soldiers, and local creatures that have been Claptrap-ified - including crab-traps, rakk-traps and skag-trapps." There'll also be an extra ten skill points up for grabs.

"A year ago Borderlands was an untested brand that through hard work and a lot of passion, turned out to be one of the best-selling, claptastic and skagtacular games we have ever created," said 2K president Christoph Hartmann in the announcement. "A year later, we are releasing our fourth DLC installment

Information about future Borderlands DLC might have been hidden in the recent Steam patch for Borderlands, according to a user on the Gearbox forums (via Giantbomb).

The data-mined revolves around Claptraps--specifically a Ninja Claptrap designed to keep the heroes of Borderlands from accessing the Vault--including new quests, locations, and enemies. Back in October, Shacknews interviewed Gearbox's Mikey Neumann, who promised we would be seeing more of the "Ninja Assassin Claptrap" seen after the end credits of Borderlands.

As the amount of data tips this onto the side of probable, I won't detail all of the information found as it likely contains spoilers, but curious readers can find all of the information in the forum post.
