Among the Sleep - Enhanced Edition

Fascinating but flawed first-person horror game Among the Sleep is back with an Enhanced Edition this week, developer Krillbite Studio has announced.

Among the Sleep first toddled onto the horror scene back in 2012, and immediately gained attention for its strikingly distinct premise. It aimed to ratchet up the terror by casting players as an defenceless two-year-old, capitalising on the vulnerability of its lead and the innately disorientating first-person perspective that comes from only being two-foot high.

Unfortunately, the final product wasn't nearly as rewarding as its premise suggested. It nailed its gorgeous, surreal visuals and imaginative set-pieces, but stumbled with interactions that were clumsy and uninspired. It was a game that simply didn't live up to its potential.

Surge

Developer Deck13's sci-fi Dark-Souls-a-like The Surge is getting a "major" new expansion this December, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

A Walk in the Park, as the expansion is known, offers a welcome departure from the base game's succession of drab industrial-sci-fi corridors, shifting the action to a vibrant, open-air amusement park, complete with rollercoaster, ferris wheel, and perhaps the faintest whiff of stale vomit drifting on a distant breeze.

CREO World, to give the park its proper name, is designed as holiday retreat for employees of CREO (the mega-corporation at the heart of The Surge's story) and their families.

Square Enix has offered up another look at its forthcoming Secret of Mana remake on PS4, Vita, and PC, this time highlighting its spruced up opening movie.

Gone are the moody, minimalist pixel-art pans of the 1993 Super Nintendo original, replaced by vibrant hand-drawn illustrations. The new introduction also features reworked (and voiced!) narration, which adds a touch of nuance compared to the fine-but-functional original English translation. Here, see for yourself:

And if you're curious to see how that compares to the Super Nintendo version, just skip to the 1:57 mark in the video below.

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will launch for Xbox One via Xbox Game Preview on 12th December, Microsoft has announced. The game will play on Xbox One X with HDR enhancements, while 4K support is due to be added further down the road.

Today's announcement was made during Microsoft's presentation at Paris Games Week, where PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds stars as a console launch exclusive on Xbox One.

Eurogamer caught up with the man himself, Brendan 'PlayerUnknown' Greene, and Battlegrounds' executive producer, Chang-Han Kim, to chat about the game's console launch, its battle royale genre copy cats and the differences between the Xbox One and PC versions.

Given that it's Halloween today, it seems topical to mention GOG's Halloween-themed blowout sale is coming to an end soon. You still have a couple of days left to get some form of spook on, however, and GOG has just gone and added a final batch of titles into the sale ranges to mix things up a little.

In addition to the over 300 games on offer, you can get a free copy of Tales from the Borderlands by spending $15 (about 12) or more during the sale, which is quite nice. As this is GOG we're talking about, all games will be of the DRM-free variety, of course.

UPDATE 31/10/17 4.00pm: Bungie has revealed a little more detail on Destiny 2: Curse of Osiris, such as the fact it will host an increased level cap.

Players will be able to level up to 25 and boost their Power Level from the current max of 300 up to 330 (with legendary mods presumably still able to push you five levels beyond that).

The Curse of Osiris will introduce Sagira (voiced by Firefly and Homeland's Morena Baccarin), a new female Ghost which belonged to Osiris before she became separated from him. Destiny: House of Wolves character Brother Vance, who previously organised the Trials of Osiris tournament, will also return as part of the story.

FIFA 18 has a new patch - and it's a hefty one.

Title Update 3, which brings FIFA 18 up to version 1.04, nerfs ground passes and ground through balls.

Most FIFA 18 players agree the passing in FIFA 18 is particularly effective. I've found the game favours fast one-touch passing, with even mediocre players able to drill accurate passes into the feet of teammates from seemingly impossible angles. (More on this in my FIFA 18 review.)

It's that time again - there's a brand new Humble Bundle on the table. This time around, Humble is offering up the Extra Life Bundle 2017, which collects a lot of the site's previous offerings into one big bundle which can all be had to $15 ( 11.36) for the next couple of weeks.

In this bundle, you'll be able to pick up copies of Pac-Man Championship Edition 2, Kingsway, Leviathan: Warships, Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition and Rain World, along with a litany of Pathfinder digital books. You'll also get 10 per cent off your first month of Humble Monthly if you fancy it as well.

The Witcher® 3: Wild Hunt

Have you ever wondered what a Witcher musical would look like on stage at the theatre? Would Geralt sing and dance? With Roach? Would there be magic, monsters and romance?

Well wonder no more because it's actually happening, this November, in Gdynia, northern Poland, at the Teatr Muzyczny im. Danuty Baduszkowej. The show, called simply Wiedzmin (the original Polish title for Andrzej Sapkowski's book series) will occupy the main stage for four days in November, January, February, March and May.

It's a big production. The director's assistant, Paweł Bernaciak, told me there would be up to 51 people on stage, including actors, dancers, acrobats and even breakdancers, and with a full orchestra in the pit below the stage. Witcher characters Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer are all to feature in an adaptation of five short Witcher stories from the Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny books.

Destiny has a long-held tradition of holding back some of its coolest bits just for PlayStation owners. Destiny 2's upcoming Curse of Osiris DLC is no different.

This December, PlayStation 4 owners will get to play on a new Crucible map set in Titan's cool New Pacific Arcology - the area which looks like the futuristic spaceship from WALL-E, although now filled with Hive monsters.

Sony has said the map will be available "only on PlayStation", although Destiny's exclusives are typically timed to appear on other platforms... eventually.
