Dungeon Defenders - Chromatic Games
DEFENDERS,

Today we are surprising everyone with our newest game: Dungeon Defenders Going Rogue! This is the Chromatic Games take on the roguelite genre using your favorite Etherian Heroes. In Going Rogue you will battle through familiar dungeons, fight waves of enemies, and defeat reimagined bosses in your never-ending quest for loot.

To celebrate our expansion of the Dungeon Defenders Universe, we are now offering bundles with DDA and Going Rogue!

DDA and Going Rogue Bundles

Since Going Rogue is built out of DDA, we wanted to make sure we provided not only a fair price to purchase the game, but also something that rewards people for already owning DDA. That’s where the Dungeon Defenders Bundle comes in! If you own DDA, you’ll be able to purchase Going Rogue for a reduced price, and even better saving during our release sale. However, we’re also releasing with a sale, so purchasing Going Rogue through the bundle will be even less!

For our new Defenders that purchase Going Rogue, but do not own Dungeon Defenders Awakened, you’ll be able to pick DDA up for a reduced price as well through the Dungeon Defenders Bundle as well (and again, even cheaper when there is a sale going on).

Dungeon Defenders II Development
We’re currently working on getting an update out for DD2 that includes new maps, a new enemy, a new boss, some new gear, which we’ll be talking about in the coming weeks. Past that we have some MAJOR things we’re going to be working on and getting your feedback, because we’ve got big plans and want our Defenders to be part of that process. We’re not going to talk about this much for right now, but stay tuned, big things are coming!

Dungeon Defenders Awakened Development

We are still hard at work on Episode 2 and so far we have revealed:
  • New Map: The Bazaar
  • New Map: The Lost Metropolis
  • New Feature: Runes
As you’ll notice in Dungeon Defenders Going Rogue, there’s an overlap in features with runes being very core to the gameplay. These runes serve as an example of what you’ll be seeing in Dungeon Defenders Awakened as well. We’re still working diligently on Episode 2 and didn’t want to leave our brave DDA players hanging without spoiling some new content. So we’re going to talk about something you’ll be getting for free right now, and also giving a sneak peak at our next hero!

Free Going Rogue Cosmetics

First, the thing that you’ll be getting right away. In Dungeon Defenders Awakened, we will be providing the Going Rogue versions of the base four characters FOR FREE. All you’ll need to do is update your game, and you will have them. That’s it. This is something we’re doing for ALL PLATFORMS. While Going Rogue won’t be on consoles right now, we want to make sure that all our Defenders are able to have fun with these new cosmetics! Getting the cosmetics onto consoles is going to be reliant on the certification process, so once they pass the individual platform certifications, we’ll have them out to you.

Second, we gave a very small tease on our next hero, which people had guessed, but we’ll announce it here as part of our Going Rogue celebration.

The Outcast
An exiled general from the armies of the Old One after questioning if war was the answer, The Outcast uses his crystalline arm to call upon forces to aid him on the battlefield.

We’re not going into his kit just quite yet, but the Outcast will be the answer to what many fans have been asking for — a remake of The Summoner that fits within Dungeon Defenders Awakened. This is also another hero that we’ll be bringing into Going Rogue as well. We’re serious about making the most out of all the things we’re creating!

We are very excited about the future of DDA, DD2, and now DDGR. Thanks for all of your support, and we look forward to showing off even more in the near future!

Patch Notes

New Content
  • The Old One on a Treadmill will no longer be obtainable. In its place, the Baby Old One will be craftable with 40 Void Crystals. Compared to the Old One on a Treadmill, it has the same stat rolls but gives 1.25x ground speed instead of 1.45x. It collects mana for players, similar to the dice
  • Radioactive Coal has been added to the game. Players will receive one Radioactive Coal per account (i.e. no bonus rewards for splits), from any coal map on Ascension.
  • A new tier of diamond has been added to the Coal Forge! The Radioactive Diamond is a builder pet which is spawned with 22 Radioactive Coal. It has approximately the same rolls as the Old One on a Treadmill.
  • Boomerang weapon has been added. It is included in the same drop table as the Redux special weapons (Plane Gun, Devil’s Pitchfork, Heartbringer, etc.).

Quality of Life
  • The Coal Forge, Void Forge, and Divine Forge have all received UI overhauls to make them more intuitive to use.
  • Build phase now resets cooldowns! Your tower boosters will be grateful.
  • Build timers are no longer present when hardcore/ruthless are not enabled.
  • The extra effects tab when clicking on a pet now displays its size as a percent of the maximum possible size for that type of pet.
  • Reduced the size of the Mini Goblin Mech pet projectiles to improve visual clarity.
  • Added hotkey to toggle the Censor Items option; default bind is Alt + P.
  • Added hotkey to forcibly close the map setup UI; default bind is semicolon ( ; ).
  • Added screen notification text when a hotkey is pressed which displays what was changed.
  • Reduced Unicorn Staff size by 40% to make it less clunky to use.
  • Several maps have had their descriptions modified or entirely rewritten to improve readability.
  • Changed Ruthless game mode description.
  • Various network fixes and improvements have been implemented.
  • Added additional cheater prevention.

General Balance
  • Mobs on Ascension now spawn faster innately, and have more consistent mob schedules.
  • Mob counts will once again be reduced for challenges when Ruthless is enabled, though the reduction amount varies from map to map.
  • Divine Crystals are no longer purchasable from the Tavern shop; however, their drop rates from Ascension end-of-map rewards have been buffed by 50%.
  • The Ascension-only special weapons are no longer purchasable from the Tavern shop. Instead, they now drop as end-of-map rewards using the same rates as Divine Crystals.
  • All tiers of coal now sell for more mana.
  • Initiate’s Remote Defense Boost now reduces the damage nearby defenses take, but no longer increases their damage. Rate and range are still increased as before.
  • Apprentice’s Overcharge mana cost has been decreased by 20% to put it on par with hero boost.
  • Pet targeting of Kraken and Spider Queen has been fixed. This makes melee pets usable versus them.
  • Homing projectiles, such as those from the Series EV’s S.A.M. Unit, have had several problems with collision, target acquisition, and “spinnies” resolved. This should greatly increase their consistency.

Map Balance
  • Crystalline Resurgence: Part 1
    • Crystal Blade and Eternian Sword are now awarded upon map completion.
  • Crystalline Resurgence: Part 2
    • Crystal Gun and Eternian Cannon are now awarded upon map completion.
  • Crystalline Resurgence: Part 3
    • Crystal Staff and Eternian Staff are now awarded upon map completion.
  • Crystalline Resurgence: Part 4
    • Jade Spear and Eternian Spear are now awarded upon map completion.
  • Halloween Spooktacular 3!
    • Now properly gives rewards to off-host players.
  • Temple of Water
    • Removed the Wyvern spawner directly above the north Crystal and placed the Wyverns in the north-most spawner instead.
  • Temple of Love
    • Weapon drops are no longer targetable.
  • Assault Challenge Pack: Part 1
    • Part 1 is now required (in addition to Parts 2 and 3) to get the end-of-challenge Unicorn reward.

Item Balance
  • Zamira helm, chest, and boots now spawn identically to match gloves; go-negative has been increased to avoid overcentralization.
  • Unicorn Staff and Glaive of Unicorn projectiles no longer slow enemies (they were never intended to).
  • Mega Chicken, Harpoon, and Deadly Striker pets now roll fixed Supreme with 250 upgrades on Ascension.
  • Owls are now capable of reaching and exceeding the size of Mr. Crackers.
  • The Mini Dragon pet now rolls with more upgrades on average.
  • The damage radius of the Mini Goblin Mech’s projectiles has been increased.
  • The Genie’s Scimitar has gained enhanced homing, with up to 5 total hits on enemies (but the same enemy cannot be hit more than once per projectile). Its damage has been reduced by 60% as a result of its vastly increased ease-of-use.
  • Ember Crescent now shoots three phoenixes in a tight spread that explode on contact with enemies. Additionally, Crescents will now be guaranteed to spawn with an Additional Projectiles stat.
  • Mini Wasp Queen melee attack has been removed. Players rarely utilized its melee attack, and it was often outright detrimental when it overrode the much stronger ranged attack when in melee distance.
  • Trident has been renamed to Spear of Atlantis, and now drops from Temple of Water; it is no longer included in the special item pool (with Plane Gun, Heartbringer, Devil’s Pitchfork, etc.). The former Spear of Atlantis is now a core drop.

  • Mini Kraken pet melee range has been increased by 8% (1250 to 1350).
  • Christmas Elephant melee range has been increased by 50% (450 to 675).
  • Mischief Maker ranged damage has been increased by 7%.
  • Kraken Kannon damage per upgrade has been increased by 57%, and now gives a 1.10x ground speed multiplier.
  • Ember Flame damage has been increased by 100%.
  • Winter’s Flame damage-over-time has been increased by 100%.
  • Moby’s Mobile Missile Launcher damage has been increased by 50%.
  • Ascension Honey Gun damage per upgrade has been increased by 25.7%.
  • Scarab Bow damage has been increased by 7%.
  • Enchanted Bishop damage has been increased by 40%.
  • Honey Staff damage has been increased by 25%.
  • Emerald Staff damage has been increased by 35%.

  • Spear of Atlantis (formerly Trident) ranged damage has been reduced by 18%.
  • Airplane pet damage has been reduced by 7%.
  • Demonic Heirloom and Spinal Column damage have been reduced by 25%.

  • Removed FPS cap on all 6-player and PvP maps.

Patch Notes

New Content
  • Sky O’ Love now has a secret which rewards a special accessory at the end of the map (repeatable).
  • Summit now has a secret which rewards a special item upon successfully completing the map, (once per account) and doubles the accessories rewarded (repeatable).
  • A new pet, the Fluffy Dragon, has been added to the game, and is rewarded from Crystal Escort: Wandering Heart.

Quality of Life
  • “Slowgres” should release faster at the end of waves on Ascension.
  • The displayed base damage on weapons has been changed to allow for more consistent comparison across the board. This is just a visual change, and will not affect the DPS the weapon deals. Some weapons affected by this include Obsidian Sparus, Gladius, and Void Staff.
  • “Unequip all” button hides when leveling up to make room for the “Reset Level-up” button.
  • Quick-adding alts with F6 adds all alts with a single keystroke.
  • Mission setup remembers if you were on Ruthless in your previous session, rather than switching your preference back to Hardcore.
  • Game browser can filter lobbies by Ascension difficulty.
  • Fixed the loud sounds on the Summit Dragon pet.
  • Made Devil’s Pitchfork VFX less annoying.
  • Dummies in the Tavern can be affected by the Oil Trap debuff (no visual).
  • Added more cheater prevention.

General Balance
*Some of these changes in the balance sections are technically bug fixes, but they are listed here due to their impact on game balance.

  • Ruthless now only multiplies boss HP by 1.5x instead of 3x below Nightmare.
  • Fixed some challenges getting affected by Ruthless mob count scaling. (For the moment, it is intentional that challenge map mob counts are unaffected by Ruthless due to the logistic challenges of rebalancing every single map on a case-by-case basis.)
  • Cyclops gas damage-over-time no longer deals bonus damage to minions.
  • Nerfed loot goblin special weapon rewards max stats by 40% and base damage spawn by 50%.
  • Melee pet healing is now properly reduced on maps where pet healing is reduced.
  • Increased projectile speed of Apprentice/Adept Fire Ball ability by 50%.

Map Balance
  • Temple of Polybius
    • No longer has double rewards on Ascension Ruthless.
  • Return to Crystalline Dimension

    • Buffed Divine Crystal reward chance from 5% to 10%.

  • True Boss Rush
    • Each checkpoint now has a 10% chance to reward a Divine Crystal.
    • Divine armor now gives bonus HP (2.5% per piece) on TBR specifically. Previously, it provided no bonus at all, since divine healing was disabled (except for off-host players, which has also been removed).
    • Lifesteal is now disabled.
  • Temple of Water
    • Reduced the health of the top spawn wyverns on Temple of Water and disabled their spawn invincibility.
  • The Great Turkey Defense

    • Reduced HP on Warriors, Spiders, and Copters on Ruthless.
    • Increased base health of small Turkeys, but disabled Ruthless modifiers.

Greetings Defenders!

The launch of the Redux version of DD1 by the community run Redux Development Team has been quite the success! We've received positive feedback from all areas of the community including new and returning players. Outside of the package mismatch error the overall launch has been going quite smoothly from what we've seen and has been reported to us at Chromatic Games.

With all that in mind, all launches of something new or major updates cause bugs to come along that need to be squashed that affect the player experience and of course unforeseen balance issues. Instead of waiting for the next bigger update of Redux a bunch of changes are coming in today to make Redux even better experience especially during the holiday break. Since a lot of maps are affected by this update this patch is going to be quite large.

If you want to know more about this update, Redux in general, or find new friends to join on your DD1 Redux adventure we highly recommend you join both discords: Dungeon Defenders RnG and Dungeon Defenders Official Discord

Patch Notes:

General Changes:

  • Package mismatches are fixed. You should no longer run in to this error when joining another defender's game.
  • There is a new icon for Ranked.

New Features:
  • Special one-time reward Divine and Void quality bracers have been added. The Divine Misplaced Old One Bracer can be acquired by completing the four Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards maps as well as their respective challenges on Ascension Hardcore or Ruthless. (Mistymire to Sky City, Portal Defense to Boss Rush). The Void Misplaced Old One Bracer can be acquired by completing Crystalline Dimension on Ascension (Neither Hardcore nor Ruthless required), Crystal Cave as well as No Towers Allowed: Crystal Cave on Hardcore or Ruthless.
  • True Boss Rush now rewards Divine and Void Misplaced Old One bracers with random stats as well as the otherwise Tavernkeeper shop exclusive weapons on map completion on Ascension difficulty.
  • A portal has been added to all taverns that teleports players to the Forge Room. This will allow people to access the Coal Forge, Divine Forge and Void Forge without having to change their tavern.
  • Added a button to the hero info screen to move all items on a character to your item box.
  • The Jester's presents can now spawn all of the new towers.
  • Akatiti Jungle on Ascension difficulty will now reward the Sea Turtle on a Treadmill from Temple of Water if the secret code is performed.
  • The Apprentice's Snowball tower now freezes wyverns and makes them fall to the ground after two hits. Their targeting has also been adjusted to prefer wyverns and targets that are not currently frozen.

Balance Changes:

  • Fixed an issue causing weapons and pets to roll Divine half as often as intended.
  • Ruthless mode will now correctly increase the wave stat multiplier for items that drop on the ground. In addition, the item quality (bias of how high a stat rolls on average) buff that Ruthless applies to ground drops has been increased by 10%.
  • Ruthless mode's maximum simultaneous override enemy limit has been changed from 60 to 80. This should result in maps being faster to complete on Ruthless than before.
  • Disabled the Ruthless mob count scalar on challenges. This should make challenges more consistently difficult on Ruthless mode.
  • Cyclops' aggro patterns will now behave the same as Ogres.
  • Guaranteed Divine Crystal rewards have all been removed. The random chance for getting one on level victory has been adjusted for all maps individually to accommodate for this. The odds for each map will be publicly available in Discord servers related to Dungeon Defenders.
  • The poisonous gas thrown by cyclops has had its damage dealt to all targets reduced slightly and damage dealt to Summoner's minions reduced massively.
  • The Devil's Pitchfork has had its ranged and elemental damage decreased.
  • Summoner's pet boost ability has been adjusted to perform more consistently across all pets.

  • The Huntress' Dark Shot ability had its projectile speed increased by 25%.
  • The Series EV's Tesla Bomb ability is no longer disabled on Temple of Polybius.
  • The Series EV's S.A.M unit now has a wider effective range. Its damage output has been reduced by 25% to compensate. Enemies will also be more likely to target the S.A.M unit when hit by it.
  • The Squire's Slice n' Dice tower should now suck enemies towards it more consistently. This should stop small mobs from getting tossed around the map.
  • The Squire's Mortar Tower has had its projectile range buffed by 20%. It also had a targeting offset added that should make it easier for the tower to hit enemies when close to it.
  • The Ancient Dragon on The Summit on Ascension difficulty will now deal 25% less damage with its fireballs.
  • The Goblin Mech on The Throne Room on Ascension difficulty had the range of its rockets reduced by 25%.
  • The go-negative function for the Kraken Kannon and Mischief Maker from Temple of Polybius has been reduced for Harcore (to 7%) and Ruthless (to 0%).
  • The Demon Lord and Goblin Mech pets have had their system for rolling upgrades reworked. This should result in higher average upgrades on these items.
  • Nerfed Sea Turtle on a Treadmill pet to cap at 800 instead of 900.
  • Nerfed Spinal Column right-click damage.
  • The Imp pet will now heal towers and minions in an area around it. The healing has been reduced to account for this.

  • Assault missions Return to Mistymire, Moraggo, Aquanos, Sky City and Crystalline Dimension as well as the Halloween Assault Mission Pack will now reduce player damage taken when multiple players are present in the game. This should make encourage playing these maps with a group of players. (100/90/80/75 for 1/2/3/4-6 players)
  • Assault missions Return to Mistymire, Moraggo, Aquanos, Sky City and Crystalline Dimension as well as the Halloween Assault Mission Pack will now set the remaining lives to 0 after a few seconds when on Hardcore or Ruthless.

  • Removed the speed multiplier from the Giraffe on a Treadmill's Ascension version.
  • The Ancient Dragon on The Summit can now be hit by towers on Ascension difficulty.

Bug fixes and Quality of Life:

  • Custom taverns will now act appropriately with items rewarded when returning to it such as Rainbow Unicorns earned by completing the Assault Mission Pack and Free-Range Chickens earned by holding 10 eggs in your inventory.

Closing Note:
We've heard several requests for having Redux not be on a branch but access through various different methods that other games have used for a community made update like Redux, mods, or a new version of the same game that can be toggled. Unfortunately we're in a bit of a unique situation regarding that and isn't something that can just be done right now with a flip of a switch. However we are looking into the possibilities that something can be done to help players access Redux easier but there is no time frame of when or any guarantee that another method of access can happen. We'll definitely let the community know if a method is found that does work for Redux and all the details regarding that when it comes time.

Defenders,

We have some exciting news for DD1 fans! Ice has worked with the team behind DD1 Redux and found a way for CG to provide official branch support here on steam for the overhauled version of DD1. What’s DD1 Redux? Check out the summary, the story and the massive change log below. Shoutout to all of the fans who worked on this project, we are proud to support their work and provide a new opportunity for veterans of DD1 and newcomers alike!

What is Redux?
Redux is a re-imagining of what is possible using the base form of Dungeon Defenders with no limits. The CDT updates were limited in balance changes, map changes, and types of additions. However without these limitations Redux could be designed differently. This time design is heavily influenced by player feedback from all aspects, resulting in an experience that may feel better for the player overall.

New features are far more extravagant than anything could ever have been done before, still maintaining the soul of how people enjoy the game most. Redux is filled with new content in the form of new maps, game modes, difficulties, quality of life changes, and other systemic overhauls.

Back Story from IHDC
This project began before my CDT endeavor and the original idea was to make a different version of DD1 that I wanted to play. Ever since the official updates for the game (content-wise) have ceased I decided to pick up this project again. Picked it up again I did and every week Redux continually got more and more ambitious as more & more changes were added. I did all of this out of love for the community because I was afraid to see the game die. Lastly, I want to give my full thanks to CG, the Redux community, and especially Ice for giving us this once in a lifetime opportunity.

Instructions:
Right-click Dungeon Defenders - Properties
Click the BETAS tab
Click the drop-down and select DD1 Redux Official
If you do not see DD1 Redux Official listing please restart Steam

Save Handling:
Ranked:
When you first connect to Ranked on Redux you will get a 1 time only automatic copy from Ranked to Redux Ranked.
  • There is no method of Ranked to trigger this copy a second time.
  • There is no method to transfer anything save related from Redux Ranked to the original Ranked save.
Local:
Your save will automatically copy from DunDefHeroes.dun to DunDefHeroes.dun.rdx and be your new save location. Attempting to copy from redux back to normal will likely cause data loss, missing items, broken stats and isn’t recommended.

Future Updates:
Currently there is no specific date on a future update for Redux but there are plans to have them in the future as the Redux team needs and wants to add additions.

FAQ:

  • Q: Will redux ever replace the current live version of DD1.
  • A: No. Due to the drastic changes and the original state of what DD1 is today the game is considered complete and in a stable state.

  • Q: How can I have both versions side by side?
  • A: After downloading Redux you can navigate to the installation location on Steam (C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Dungeon Defenders) and copy this entire folder to a new location. Then switch back the beta branch to NONE - Opt out of all beta programs. Create a shortcut to the bigger exe file DunDefGame.exe in both folders and name them accordingly to which version you wish to launch.

DEFENDERS!

If you haven’t heard, Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, the latest in the Dungeon Defenders series, is now in Closed Beta! Continue reading for more info, or click the small picture below to check it out! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1101190/

What Have We Been Up to?
Recently the latest and last update was sent out for the original Dungeon Defenders from our Community Development Team (who are incredibly awesome, and you should check out their work). This was done in anticipation of Dungeon Defenders: Awakened entering Closed Beta, with the game releasing in February 2020. DD:A is a return to the soul of Dungeon Defenders, bringing back heroes, towers, enemies, and levels you’ve cherished into a new engine with all new assets.

We’ve received a ton of praise for DD:A with phrases like “the magic is back” and “this IS Dungeon Defenders”. Our continued work is to iterate on the feedback that many Defenders have provided so far while we finish polishing prior to our February release. We’re calling all Defenders to join us in helping make Dungeon Defenders: Awakened the best game it can be. The reception so far has been stellar, and it’s only fueled us even more to make sure we pour our hearts and souls into making DDA something players feel pure joy playing!

What is Dungeon Defenders: Awakened?
The past has been changed! Choose your hero and construct an epic defense to fend off hordes of enemies while you jump into the fray to protect Etheria. Fight alongside friends in four player combat to claim legendary loot, level up, and take on the legions of enemies that await you! Revisit familiar places, but also unseen destinations throughout Etheria, new in Dungeon Defenders: Awakened.

Master the Squire, Huntress, Apprentice, and Monk to fight off any enemy that approaches. Build and utilize each character’s unique arsenal of blockades, towers, traps, and auras to keep the Eternia Crystals safe. The only requirement is to win, but it’s up to you to choose how!

Defending Etheria is better with friends! Bring three of your friends to jump into the fray with you. You can play online, local LAN, or offline 4-player splitscreen. The choice is yours! With Cross Save functionality, you’re able to take your save here on Steam over to your Nintendo Switch on release, if you own DD:A on the Nintendo Switch. The same functionality can be done later when we release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One!

Collect mountains of loot while battling waves of attackers! Swords, crossbows, staves, polearms, axes, grenade launchers, beam sabers, and so much more are yours for the taking. There’s even more epic loot coming to Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, with brand new rewards from monsters, bosses, and challenges — weapons, pets, armor, and more!

In Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, customization is king! Choose what gear you bring into battle, your hero’s appearance, the defenses you build, and where you build them. In Etheria, you’re the master of your own destiny!

Preorder To Get Beta Access!
By preordering Dungeon Defenders: Awakened, you gain access to our limited Closed Beta, letting you give us feedback and helping make it the best game it can be! To keep things simple, when you activate your Beta key, it automatically converts to your release copy when we release the game in February. Make sure to not give away your key or cheat!
