Just a quick update to say that the final stages of revisions and bug fixing has started for the new update to both the free demo and the closed alpha. In addition to adding non-VR play this will also bring HOTAS support for all players including in VR along with a host of other updates.

Black Hole Fishing - SDG Games

Welcome to a very special edition of Fishy Friday. Today, I am happy to announce our partnership with Playsaurus! Playsaurus has a long history of creating and publishing idle games. They are the exact partner I need right now, and I am extremely excited about the possibilities they bring!

What does this mean?

In short, Black Hole Fishing just got an upgrade.

  • Playsaurus will be providing me with much needed support, including marketing, funding, QA, etc. They have been making idle games for years, and are able to help me get this project across the finish line.

  • Playsaurus will not be changing the creative vision for the game. They are here to help, but they are a studio that respects the creative visions of their partners. I will be asking them for guidance and feedback, but ultimately, the design of the game remains my responsibility.

  • The release date will be changing. To quote Miyamoto: "A delayed game is eventually good, a rushed game is bad forever" I was running out of resources, and was going to have to release the game before it was ready. This is no longer the case, and I can now promise that Black Hole Fishing will be a game worth playing when you finally get your hands on it.

  • Your feedback will continue to matter to me/us. If you are a part of the community already, or you are waiting for those playtests to finally start (soon, I promise), then expect development to continue as it has been.

  • And, finally, I will finally start posting more consistent development updates... probably. I have a lot less gamedev-adjacent work to do now (marketing, various paperwork), so I have fewer excuses now. Stay tuned.

  • Fixed: Translation parsing errors in the item management section

Hello everyone, welcome to this week's progress report.

Level:
Our work on adding foliage details to some parts of the canyon continues and is progressing well. We are also preparing a (probably) sandbox exclusive tileset for stone-walls and other building props for medieval themed architecture like castles. Something for the Halloween spirit :)

Code:
A few UI screens like the Inventory, Player HUD and interactables have received minor layout improvements to make some spacing more consistent. A new In-world UI has also been added for the "Shey's Drones" quest, showing the last recorded footage to aid in recovery.

In the sandbox, the implementation for the "Look at" and "Eye offset" for the face-pose override in the sex animations has been completed.
The Gizmo has also received some upgrades:
In rotation mode, a new screen aligned rotation handle has been added around the gizmo, allowing camera-based rotation.
Additionally, using MMB anywhere in the screen (you don't have to hover over the gizmo), you can now transform the selected object(s) in screen space.

Character:
The new version of the Arac creature model is progressing well so far, we hope to finish it by next week. Also the harem outfit is coming along nicely while we are additionally focusing on various user-requested outfit transfers.

Animations:
In the animation department, work on combat continues steadily: This week, we implemented melee AIs for spears and swords and finished up the Feral Bull miniboss AI and animation polish. We also implemented the heavy "gatling" type of ranged weapon with the plasma thrower for Maya, Max, Bol and Tali type character skeletons (the latter because it is also used for the large female lizards, which will wield this type of weapon around Yterra). Meanwhile, our biggest task of transferring melee animations over to other skeletons continues as well.

Design:
This week, we have continued our work on Adûn, built and tested a lot of the lizard combat AIs, and the design of the perk system is progressing, too. The list of perks in the game is done and now we are defining unlock mechanics, as well as the design of the perk GUI. Further we are finishing up on a big quest for Shey where you need to collect some lost drones.

📜 Chapter One – Harmony and Peace

Long ago, Ethernia was a single, majestic island, bathed in sunlight and embraced by the waves of the sea. It was a place of unparalleled beauty, where lush forests met vast plains, and icy mountain peaks rose high enough to touch the sky. In those ancient times, life in Ethernia was harmonious and joyful, with its people living in peace and prosperity.

However, that peace did not last forever. Due to dark and mystical powers never fully understood, the island of Ethernia was torn apart into three distinct continents: the Kingdom of Ice, the Kingdom of Desert, and the Kingdom of Forest. Each continent was ruled by its own royalty and separated by vast oceans that seemed to deepen with each passing day.

Before the division, the three kingdoms coexisted in harmony, sharing resources and knowledge for the good of all. Yet with Ethernia’s separation, tensions and conflicts began to rise among them. Instead of uniting to face the challenges brought by the division, the leaders of the kingdoms began blaming one another for the chaos that followed.

For years upon years, the kingdoms waged war against each other, feeding resentment and cultivating hatred. Devastating wars swept across the lands of Ethernia, leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair. Cities were reduced to rubble, forests burned to ash, and mountains carved open in the endless pursuit of power.
