The Swapper - facepalmg
<<< BEGIN INCOMING TRANSMISSION >>>

Survey expedition reporting again. The maintenance update is now available for all players. The original purpose of this release was addressing bit rot that had accumulated over the years, but we couldn't resist including some visual, aural and input adjustments that make the game feel a little bit smoother. The visual improvements can be toggled on/off in the options menu under Bump map anti-aliasing, Enhanced edges, Vignette and Dithering.

While these changes are subtle enough that they could go unnoticed if you're not looking for them, we've created a Legacy branch for those of you who want to play the game like it's 2013 again. It includes only essential fixes that affect game stability and compatibility.

We're also happy to report that the game seems to run just fine on Steam Deck. We hope it will be reviewed for official compatibility soon. EDIT: The game has now been verified for Steam Deck. The main branch is recommended when playing handheld because the visual stability improvements have a more noticeable effect on smaller resolutions.

The Swapper - facepalmg
Some of you have been wondering if there's ever going to be another game from the developers of The Swapper. A new game, Noita, by bunch of friends and me (Olli), is launching in Early Access in less than a month:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/881100/Noita/

Noita has been a a ton of fun to work on. The game's pixel based physics and chemistry simulations still provide fresh gameplay after over six years of development.

Without further ado, here's the early access launch date trailer for Noita:

We've just released an update that we decided to call v1.16.
It adds and contains, amongst other boring techy things:
  • Linux support!
  • OSX support!
  • SDL2 as platform abstraction library instead of OpenTK, fixes multiple compatibility issues
  • GPU-scaled fullscreen mode, the game never changes screen resolution anymore
  • Updated FMOD audio library to version 4.44.30, fixes audio related crashes
  • The game doesn't use XML serializers anymore, fixes an extremely rare crash issue
  • Improved debug logging
  • Made gamepad support more robust
  • Got rid of GLU requirement
  • Multiple minor compatibility fixes

Linux and OS X versions will be available for download also for people who bought the game before the update!

Now you can explore the dark mysteries of Theseus from the comfort of your sofa!

As the title says this update adds native gamepad support to The Swapper. We've put a big effort into making playing with gamepad feel natural by adding snapping support to the map and reworking all menu controls. The game also supports rumble on some controllers.

The update should be automatically downloaded by Steam. If that doesn't happen a Steam client restart should fix the problem.
