Added some fixes and quality of life tweaks:
  • Slowed down sprinting to a more reasonable speed.
  • Elevator now shows "Everyone must be on" when waiting for everyone to get on.
  • Fixed: Distance tethering now ignores dead players.
  • Tuned placement of first lever in The Outer Ward.

Genome Guardian - Alpherior
Lots of bugs have arisen due to a big change I made behind the scenes for players that can't run the game at full 60 FPS - the whole point was that these changes would ensure that the game feels the same regardless of framerate, but ironically this big change has produced the opposite effect.

I'm completely undoing that change and taking an entirely different & better approach that hopefully won't result in any new bugs popping up.

There's still a few things I need to check & change, but they're things that (if broken in this update) have been broken for players at low FPS basically since launch. I'll have more coverage of these things by 5.0.4.

Regardless, it's clear what the real problem is - the game obviously shouldn't be running as poorly as it does. I've said before that I want to address this and I've said I've tried to - aside from bug fixes, this is going to be my top priority again.

⚖ BALANCE
  • (perk) Briefcase: it's super confusing how it works, and there's no way I can properly fit an explanation in its description, so I'm changing it into something that I think could be cool maybe: Briefcase is now "Knockback +100%, Range -50%". (this change was actually in 5.0.3 but I didn't mention it in patch notes because I forgot to update the in-game description 😅)

🔨 FIXES
  • Various bugs relating to microbe eliminations attained while at sub-60 FPS have been fixed (more Biomass per elimination, eliminations counting as multiple eliminations, Targets for eliminating microbes incrementing faster than they should, etc.).
  • The Abyss would enter the visible area much faster than intended when below 60 FPS.
  • The Abyss' Health drain is now consistent across all framerates.
  • Multiple DEFEAT screens would appear if you died while at sub-60 FPS.
  • Some turrets like Chronos and Tower would exhibit twitchy behaviour.
  • Projectile Damage is now increased to compensate for when Firerate exceeds framerate (you probably didn't even notice, but if your framerate was, say, 30, and you were using AACC Hyperbeam, which has 60/s Firerate, you would have only been doing half the DPS!)
  • "DANGER ALERT" text would sometimes overlap with the Bonus Research popup when you're able to pursue The Abyss.
  • Various fade effects & spooky purple text popups will fade at the correct rate while below 60 FPS.

Fixed multiple security vulnerablities to address the recent wave of hackers causing issues. Sorry for the issues. Security should be vastly improved and should prevent further issues from occurring.

Bastide - medievalnexus
New field, pasture placement plus more.

  • New construction system for fields and pastures. This will now allow for more custom shapes and sizes. Pasture works the same but with more point options whereas fields now procedurally place crops rather than the set block based spawning. There are a few bugs that will be fixed in the future. All your previous saved pasture and fields wont be able to be loaded. Field fertility to be fixed.



  • Updated to unreal engine 5.4.

  • Added more micro foliage.

  • Happiness item benefits is now sometimes displayed with + to give understanding of what contributes more, will be added to everything in the future.




  • Improved fur clothing integration.

  • Added forest spawner currently minimal use for now.

  • Now only returns clothing and tools to warehouses set to be able to store those items when someone dies.

  • Moved processes out of main bp to improve performance.

  • Different path snow build up.

  • Field optimizations.

  • Removed an unneeded calculation from villager, animal and cart movement reducing CPU usage.

  • Removed incorrect carry visual for tiles.

  • Fixed main menu not updating trees to the current settings.

  • Fixed tutorial links and set them to be the more basic buildings such as forge and sewing hut rather than blacksmith and tailor.

  • Fixed backend issue with progress tracking.

  • Fixed lumber, fur, tiles, clay, hunter icon hover bug.

This update took much longer than expected due to many issues and a holiday.

Will be focusing bug fixes and performance over the next few weeks. Please report any issues I will attempt to fix them as soon as possible.

Then onto finishing much of the content already half done such as new jobs, house construction system and procedural generation.

Hey all!

Popcorn! is currently fully supported on the Steam Deck, utilizing the default settings.

The touch screen is seemingly the best way to play, but you can use the touch pad cursor along with the trigger buttons to click.
